Genesis 23

Abraham was the heir of Shem[1]
Abram had departed[2] from cities [3] and learned to walk in righteousness and faith. He chose not eat the dainties of the city states.[4]
He was not of the evil the way of Sodom nor Nimrod's Babylon and his altars formed the social bonds of liberty.
Abraham formed a free "Polis" through a network of Altars funded by freewill sacrifice that strengthen the bands of a free society like Moses through the practice of pure Religion?

V2 "the same is Hebron(חֶבְר֖וֹן ḥebrōwn)[5] in the land of Canaan:"
Kirjatharba aka Hebron are the result of a league, confederation, or alliance.
"Originally it was named Kirjath-arba, and though Arba is called “the father of Anak(קנַעָ chain)” (Joshua 15:13), yet the literal meaning City of Four (arba being the Hebrew numeral four)..." Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers
Cities were the result of agreement banned by the Ten Commandments for Israel because they lead to a centralization of power. We can see this in numerous studies of the Cauldron, flesh pots, cities of blood[3] and the dainties offered at those tables of welfare state that are a snare and a trap.
V2 "and Abraham came to mourn (לִסְפֹּ֥ד lispōd)[6] "For thus saith the LORD Enter not into the house of mourning neither go to lament nor bemoan them for I have taken away my peace from this people saith the LORD even lovingkindness and mercies" Jeremiah 16:5
What was "Abraham" really doing?
Abraham was learning to walk in faith. The lessons and temptations of Abraham would help him understand more and more about the Smoking furnace and a burning lamp of his original vision of Genesis 15 verse 17.
That understanding like the tree of life is spiritual.,
V3 And Abraham stood up (wayyāqām וַיָּ֙קָם֙)[7] from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth [8], saying,
V3 "spake unto the sons of Heth [8]" Who are the sons of Heth? They were the תחֵ ChetTav ‭from 02865‎ chathath ‎ חָתַת‎ Chet double Tav. The single Tav suggest they have some faith, though it be not yet in Spirit and Truth. Even the word we see for fear in 1 Samuel 11:7 "the fear of the LORD contains the letter Chet suggesting the "The Life Force - cause and effect"[9]
Stood up and bowed

V7 "Abraham stood up (wayyāqām וַיָּ֙קָם֙ which is VavYodKufMem in stead of the root KufVavMem)[7]" which suggest the divine spark gave him the authority to stand up. But it also says he "bowed himself (wayyištaḥū וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ VavYodShinTavHeyVav)[10] " includes the Yod and a Tav. So is that saying he stood by the "divine spark" of revelation but bowed with faith in humility.

Moses would stand up and set the captives free as a servant rather than a master.
Jesus would stand up to set the captive free and yet coming as a servant who even washed feet.
What does it mean "thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;"?
Sarah had made a remarkable contribution to Abraham's walk of faith which was according to the order of Melchizedek.[11]
Two houses of Mammon

The righteous and the unrighteous Mammons want to be served. but you cannot serve both.[12]

What was the "House of Abraham"?
How does it differ from the modern "Abraham House"?[13]
The modern charitable foundation called "Abraham House" wants "corporate leaders to drive positive social change." It wants "to harness the collective power of global leaders to promote peace..."[14] Rome promoted peace through the Pax Romana which was not the peace of Abraham nor Christ but peace through power.
They "cry peace, peace" but there is none.[15]

How does it relate to the gospel of the Kingdom? What is the kingdom of God and what is the Church or ekklesia of Christ?
Who should clarify for us what is true and what is not?
Is it a matter of knowledge or revelation?

Questions
Why did Abraham not want to live in a city-state?
Why did Lot insist upon living in the city-state in Genesis 19?
Why did Bera king of Sodom see the people as human resources in Genesis 14:21?
What are the deeds God hate?[16]
What is the corban of unrighteousness?
What is the Reward of unrighteousness? Is it the dainties of rulers provided through covetous practices[17] applying to men who exercise authority one over the other which is idolatry?[18]
Did Abram avoid agreements[19] and debt[20] with these men because their welfare was a snare and a trap as David and Paul stated and would make us merchandise and curse children as Peter said?

Sarah's Death and Burial

1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.

2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba[21] the same is Hebron(חֶבְר֖וֹן ḥebrōwn)[5] in the land of Canaan:[22] and Abraham came to mourn (לִסְפֹּ֥ד lispōd)[6] for Sarah, and to weep[23] for her.

3 And Abraham stood up (wayyāqām וַיָּ֙קָם֙ )[7] from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth[8], saying,

A stranger

4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,

6 Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.

Abraham stood and bowed

7 And Abraham stood up (wayyāqām וַיָּ֙קָם֙ )[7], and bowed himself (wayyištaḥū וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ)[10] to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.

8 And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,

9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah (הַמַּכְפֵּלָה֙ ), which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.

Ephron dwelt

10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,

11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.

Abraham bowed

12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.

13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.

Ephron answered

14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,

15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee?[24] bury therefore thy dead.

Measured current money

16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, [25] which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.[26]

17 And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah(בַּמַּכְפֵּלָ֔ה), which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure

18 Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.

Buried before Memre

19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah(הַמַּכְפֵּלָ֛ה)[27] before Mamre:[28] the same is Hebron[5] in the land of Canaan.

20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.[8]

  15. “‭10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it. ‭11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days. ‭12 And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD. ‭13 For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. ‭14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace. ‭15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD. ‭16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. ‭17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. ‭18 Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. ‭19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.” Jeremiah 6:10-19.
  16. God hates the deeds

    • "There is a distinction between a `debt discharged' and a `debt paid.' When discharged the debt still exists though divested of its character as a legal obligation during the operation of the discharge. Something of the original vitality of the debt continues to exist, which may be transferred, even though the transferee takes it subject to its disability incident to the discharge. The fact that it carries something which may be a consideration for a new promise to pay, so as to make an otherwise worthless promise a legal obligation, makes it the subject of transfer by assignment." Stanek v. White. 172 Minn. 390, 215 N. W. 784.
