Whoredom is relation with a whore or harlot instead of the bride. What does a harlot symbolize?
Who is the Harlot of Babylon?
What does this have to do with the adulterous generation of Matthew 12:39 and the Corban of the Pharisees?
Why is it said to ride a beast?
What does the beast represent?
Who are her daughters?
A bride serves out of love but a harlot does it for money. Who are the "strange women" of Proverbs?
And what does a strange woman have to do with strange fire?[1] Is the harlot, the strange woman? Is it a symbol of the false church? What does she look like, and what does she teach? Are they the harlots of false religion who ride the beast that goes about and devours who they will? Do we give power to the beast when we bite one another with our covetous practices?

Whoredom

The word whoredom is from one of 2 Hebrew words, zanuwn ZayinNunVavNun[2] from the word zanah ZayinNunHey[3] often translated whore or it is from the word taznuwth TavZayinNunVavTav used by Ezekiel[4] but from the same word zanah. It is akin to Adultery and Fornication.

Exodus 34:15 "Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring[3] after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;"

Their sacrifices are the dainties of rulers and the wages of unrighteousness that we should not have an appetite for because they degenerate the people and turn the masses into perfect savages ushering in tribute of tyrants who exercise authority. Because you are biting one anther you are devoured.

This national adultery warning is repeated in Exodus 34:16 "And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring[3] after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring[3] after their gods."

The free bread of Rome doled out to the members of the temples was at the heart of the Christian conflict. Christ forbid us to be like the Benefactors of the world who exercised authority nor should we eat at their table which Paul and David told us was a snare. Such systems were covetous practices that would make us merchandise and curse children. Living by force is not the same as living by faith. Repenting meant we could not think like the Pharisees and live by their Corban. To eat the things sacrificed to these idolatrous systems was fornication and if we would become accustomed to living at the expense of others like the Romans we would become perfect savages too.
Early Christians knew they could not seek the social welfare benefits offered by Rome nor eat free bread at their tables because that was fornication.

Fornication

The word fornication appears mostly in the New Testament as used by Paul. The Greek word is porneiaes(πορνεία)[5] which can mean "illicit sexual intercourse" but is also a metaphor describing "the worship of idols".

The whoredom and harlotry of those temples which were often rooted in forms of false religions like the Goddess of Sumer, the Temple of Diana and of course the the temple of Roma.

We know that the worship of idols and idolatry often had to do with membership in one of the temples which through their diverse means and methods of operation caused the masses to degenerate according to Polybius and all the prophets. The would rely on men in governments who exercise authority [6] and provided a a social welfare at civil tables that were a snare and a trap.

These temples provided a variety of government services including the free bread of Rome and other welfare services including record keeping to determine who was eligible for those services, benefits, or dainties offered by the Roman or other governments.

There is also the verb porneuo (πορνεύω) [7] which we see in several verses which can mean "to prostitute one’s body" but is also a metaphor for "to be given to idolatry, to worship idols".[8]

Even the word porne (πόρνη)[9]can mean "a woman who sells her body for sexual uses" but is also a metaphor for "an idolatress" and even "Babylon" i.e. Rome, the chief seat of idolatry sometimes associated with error of Balaam.[10]

Adultery (National)

  • James 4:4 "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

Most of the adultery in the Bible is national adultery. This is about asking amiss for what we want. Like the Corban that made the word of God to none effect and the Covetous Practices that made us merchandise and cursed our children. It is about our Wantonness and what "should have been for our Welfare but was a snare". James understood what Pure Religion was and certainly understood the Christian conflict with Rome and its Imperial cult.

  • Exodus 20:14 "Thou shalt not commit adultery."

Adultery and Fornication

We know that both the words translated into adultery and fornication are commonly used in the Bible to denote the acts of a whole nation. What is the adultery spoken of in the ten commandments? Is it just about sex?

In the matter of fornication we see a number of quotes to do with the Nation and Kingdom.

Isaiah 23:17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall turn to her hire, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
Ezekiel 16:26 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.
Acts 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and [from] fornication, and [from] things strangled, and [from] blood.
Acts 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
1 Corinthians 4:20 For the kingdom of God [is] not in word, but in power. 1
Corinthians 5:1 It is reported commonly [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
Exodus 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

And in the matter of adultery we see that whole nations and the Church can commit adultery which is idolatry.

Jeremiah 3:8, 10 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also. And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. And yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned unto me with her whole heart, but feignedly, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 5:7 How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by [them that are] no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.... Jeremiah 7:9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
Romans 2:22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
2 Peter 2:14,19 "Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet. These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage."

The way nations do this is by covenanting with other peoples who do not love God and by becoming unequally yoked with those people and their gods by those covenants that are contrary in nature to the ways of the God of heaven:

Exodus 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

It may become painfully obvious that these gods of those other people and nations are nothing more than the judges within their judicial system of judges who exercise authority one over the other in deciding what is good and evil.

If we know that a marriage license is a contract with the state and is not merely a personal ecclesiastical vow before God but an agreement that brings you under the authority of the State law makers and judges rather than the God in Heaven then that contract binds as one flesh not merely with our spouse but with the men of state who may now rule over that relationship with their own morality.

Holy Matrimony vs. Marriage
Chapter 1. of the book The Covenants of the gods

And if our vows of Matrimony are to be before God and between us and our spouse:

Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Then any other contract, covenant or conditions that binds us under another authority other than God would be a betrayal of our faith in God. Since adultery is really a matter of betrayal of faith then by the voluntary act of obtaining a marriage license and going under the authority of the judges of a civil court, who are called gods both in Israel and Rome at the time of the writing of the bible, as opposed to matrimony before God is in fact an act of adultery.

Ohio’s Marriage Laws Document.

“Marriage is a legal as well as spiritual and personal relationship. When you repeat your marriage vows, you enter into a legal contract. There are three parties to that legal contract: 1) you; 2) your spouse; and 3) the state of Ohio. The state is a party to the contract because under its laws, you have certain obligations and responsibilities to each other, to any children you may have, and to Ohio.[12]
“Marriage is often referred to as a civil contract, but the emphasis in such a reference is not on the word ‘contract’ but upon the word ‘civil’ as distinguished from ecclesiastical; since there is religious freedom in this country a religious ceremony, and rules of ecclesiastical organizations with regard to marriage have no legal significance.”
“Though mutual assent is necessary to enter into a marriage the marriage itself is a status or relationship rather than a contract, the rights and obligations of the parties thereto being fixed by the law instead of by the parties themselves. Hence marriages are not within the provision of the United States Constitution forbidding a state to impair the obligation of contracts.” [13]

Supreme Court of Nebraska stated that:

“It (marriage) differs from all other contracts in its far-reaching consequences to the body politic itself, and for that reason, in dealing with it or the status resulting therefrom, the state never stands indifferent, but is always a party whose interest must be taken into account.” [14]

By this information it may seem reasonable to conclude that anyone who gets a marriage license is living in an adulterous state.

But is the marriage contract the only binding covenant with the gods of the people of the world?

Or are there many others?

    • Benson Commentary states : "The original word, πορνεια, implies criminal conversation of any kind whatever; and is used by the LXX., and by the writers of the New Testament, in the latitude which its correspondent word hath in the Hebrew language, namely, to denote all the different kinds of uncleanness committed, whether between men and women, or between men, or with beasts. Accordingly it is used in the plural number, chap. 1 Corinthians 7:2. Here the word signifies incest joined with adultery, the woman’s husband being still living, as appears from 2 Corinthians 7:12. In the Old Testament whoredom sometimes signifies idolatry, because the union of the Israelites with God as their king being represented by God himself as a marriage, their giving themselves up to idolatry was considered as adultery."

Revelation 2:14-17 "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication ("to permit one’s self to be drawn away by another into idolatry"). 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it]."
