In the short epistle Jude professed the doctrines of Jesus and urged us to do the same with stern warnings concerning our spots that come from our dependence upon the welfare systems of the world and its covetous practices rather than the practice of pure Religion.
Polybius saw the downfall of the republic a 100 years before the first Emperor of Rome by way of their free bread and the welfare state. John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ said it mad the word of God to none effect. And Peter said it would make you "human resources" an Paul said it was a "snare and a trap". But the masses still bite the bate and are devoured and destroyed.

Jude

The Epistle of Jude is a single chapter of 25 verses. It was an encyclical letter intended to be circulated and read in all churches dated between 70 and 90 AD.

Jude urges us to defend Christ's doctrine which is the Doctrines of Jesus and to remember the words and warnings of the apostles. His words are similar to the second epistle of Peter.

He warns of mockers and those ungodly souls who lust.

Controversy in earliest text

There is a controversy concerning the name of Jesus which appears in verse 5. It does not appear until much later texts.[1]

The earliest text is Papyrus 72 (P72 or Papyrus Bodmer VIII), which is the earliest known manuscript of Jude from the 2nd century,[2] but its text actually says θεός χριστός or Theos christos or "God anointed" because the Greek word Christos means anointed.

Many anointed

Moses was the first God anointed because God empowered him with His Holy Spirit as a divine "anointing" to lead the Israelites out of the bondage of Egypt.

Also kings Saul, David, Solomon were anointed, and prophets Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, and also the priests Aaron and his sons were anointed and of course Jesus was also anointed by the Holy Spirit and by Mary before His crucifixion.

The Greek manuscripts supporting the appearance of the name "Jesus" in Jude 1:5 include the 5th-century Codex Alexandrinus (A) (400–440) and the 4th-century Codex Vaticanus (B). They were created by the followers of the Church of Constantine.

Most commonly accepted manuscripts do not include the name of Jesus in the Greek text.[1]

Jude speaks of how the Lord saved his people out of the land of Egypt, but also destroyed those who failed to believe, like the fallen angels.

Jude quotes others

Jude quotes the Book of Enoch, part of the scripture of the Ethiopian and Eritrean churches but rejected by other churches. and about Satan and Michael quarreling over the body of Moses.

Jude the servant

Comments and Study
Jude was a servant of Jesus who he calls Christ because he was anointed who was also the brother of James and who both were sanctified. The word sanctified is said to be from hagiazo ἁγιάζω but in the earliest text and in others we see ēgapēmenois ἠγαπημένοις[3] which is from agapao ἀγαπάω meaning to love.
The "error of Balaam for reward," is the error of the Nicolaitans whose deeds God hates. They are the people conquered by their own covetous practices and made merchandise[4] and curse children by making them a surety for debt.
It is the desire for the wages of unrighteousness that cultivates the selfish heart.
This is what the modern Christian has done in order to return to the bondage of Egypt. Because they were willing to have one purse and were greedy for gain at the expense of others.
Because they were willing to sit at the table of rulers and ate with great appetite, they are snared by his "dainties: for they are deceitful meat".
They, their parents and grandparents consented to the Benefactors who exercise authority one over the other to get benefits like social security, eating at a table that was supposed to be for their welfare but was actually a snare.
They pray daily to the Fathers of the earth, not to their Father in Heaven nor His ordained saints for their daily bread, the daily ministration of His Church.
The "feasts of charity" of the modern Church are not the Pure Religion of the early Church but are more like the Corban of the Pharisees which is the error of the Nicolaitans.

Verses 14–15 may contain direct quotations from 1 Enoch 1:9 the book "Enoch, the seventh from Adam" is also sourced from 1 En. 60:1. Others think it more likely an expansion of the words of Moses from Deuteronomy 33:2.
V14 The full identity of Jude is continuously debated, but what is not debated is his scholarship. Since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls, there is little doubt the author of the Epistle of Jude was familiar with the Book of Enoch and was influenced by it or copies of it or similar writings.
V22 Westcott and Hort 1881 set the text of 22 as:
Καὶ οὓς μὲν ἐλεᾶτε διακρινομένους σώζετε ἐκ πυρὸς ἁρπάζοντες,
Kaí oús mén eleáte diakrinoménous sózete ek pyrós arpázontes,
"And those who have mercy on me, having discerned, you save by snatching them out of the fire,"
The most common text form among accepted manuscripts is:
καὶ οὓς μὲν ἐλεᾶτε διακρινομένους
kaí oús mén eleáte diakrinoménous
And have mercy on some, who are doubting;
Verse 25 our God is not the gods of Rome but is our Lord and sovereign who has dominion[5] through His government if we will seek His righteousness according to the perfect law of liberty and the power to choose[6] granted us by His grace in the present tense.

2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Men crept in

4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained[7] to this condemnation[8], ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness[9], and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord,[1] having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

Fallen

6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7 Even as Sodom[10] and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication[11], and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Filthy dreamers

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers[12] defile the flesh, despise dominion[13], and speak evil of dignities.[14] [15]

Rebuke corruption

9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute[16] beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.[17]

Way of Cain and Balsaam

11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain[18], and ran greedily after the error of Balaam[18] for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.[19] [20]

12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Execute judgement

14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.[21]

Remember

17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

18 How that they told you there should be mockers[22] in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Beloved build

20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Have compassion

22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted[23] by the flesh.

24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

25 To the only wise[24] God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion[5] and power,[6] both now and ever. Amen.

    Doxa is a Greek word meaning common belief or popular opinion. Used by the Greek rhetoricians as a tool for the formation of argument by using common opinions, the doxa was often manipulated by sophists to persuade the people. The word doxa picked up a new meaning between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC when the Septuagint translated the Hebrew word for "glory" (כבוד, kavod) as doxa.
