A Peace offering

The Peace offering[1] symbolized the spiritual state in conformity to the Law of nature which is Divine will. It was said to be one of the earliest of the sacrificial offerings but had to do more with the character of intent than the sacrifice itself. Any worshipper meaning those who desired to serve God did so by freely offering this "peace offering".

Any ordinary Israelite, could bring a bullock, a lamb or a goat, male or female and the ritual that followed was like unto a sin offering (Leviticus 3:1-17). Of course again the "bullock, a lamb or a goat" are symbols of things you want to give up to bless your fellowman in the practice of Pure Religion.

We are told if the worshiper was a priest the fatty portions of the animal were removed and burned on the altar of God. but of course we should understand the burning, as with all burnt offerings, is a metaphor for letting go of the control. So the fat being burned up for a priest meant that he personally was not to profit from the sacrifice. Even the "blood sprinkled at the base of the sacrificial altar" is symbolic.

To understand a peace offering[1] we need to understand the difference between the Corban of the pharisees and the Corban of Christ. The Pharisees had altered the way of the LORD with the help of Herod and now they were making the word of God to none effect. John the Baptist called them to repent.

ShinLamedMem

The word for peace offering consists of the three letters ShinLamedMem שֶׁלֶם shelem.[1] ‎We find the same letters in numerous other words like שָׁלַם‎ shalam[2] meaning make peace.

There is the word that means to finish or complete also spelled ShinLamedMem שְׁלַם‎ shëlam.[3]

There is the term for welfare שְׁלָם‎ shëlam[4] which is said to be from the word שָׁלוֹם‎ shalowm[4] that is said to mean welfare, safe, health.

We see it used in Psalms 69:22 when David writes, "Let their table <07979> become a snare <06341> before them: and [that which should have been] for [their] welfare((שָׁלוֹם)‎ shalowm)[4], [let it become] a trap <04170>. Paul will quote David in Romans on this same subject:

"(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: 10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway." Romans 11:8-10

In Deuteronomy 25:15 Moses warns about "perfect <08003> and just weight, a perfect <08003> and just measure using שָׁלֵם‎ shalem [5] a word with the sense of complete, safe, peaceful, perfect, whole.

There is the name of Salem (שָׁלֵם) or Shalem[6] which had Melchizedek as its king but his name was not Melchizedek king of Salem but he was the righteous king peace. He may have been a leader but his polis obviously operated according to faith, hope, and charity like the altars of Abraham which brings peace.

There are still more words like שִׁלֵּם‎ shillem[7] meaning recompense and the name שִׁלֵּם‎ Shillem[8] which is said to mean repaid which is what recompence means.

The word ShinLamedMemHey is a word that is translated garment as we see with שַׂלְמָה salmah‎[9] But the same letters also produce the name שְׁלמֹה‎ Shëlomoh[10] which is the name of Solomon and is said to be from שָׁלוֹם‎ shalowm[11] which is translated peace 175 times, well 14, peaceably 9, and welfare 5 times.

1 Kings 4:21 "And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life."

Israel was to be priest to all nations and not force tribute which is the antitheses of a peace offering.

The Corban of peace

The term korban shelamim is also used in many rabbinical writings.

It was a freewill offerings or gifts of service shared or granted to society for the purpose of procuring peace through peace or even reconciliation in order to assure proper communion with God through blessing others.

There are at least 84 occurrences of "peace offerings but there are other words associated with a peace offering[1] because peace offering was one of the sacrifices and offerings in the Hebrew Bible. The term "peace offering" is said to be associated with offerings and sacrifices because of the means and manner or the way you choose to sacrifice rather than the act itself.

Cain and Abel had altars of sacrifice but something was wrong with Cain's sacrifice. People will offer reasons but in Psalms 4:5 we see “Offer right sacrifices(zabach)[12], and put your trust in the LORD.” We know that Moses emphasized all the offerings were to be Freewill offering the same as Jesus did with his charity and love which David confirmed in Psalms 54:6 – “With a freewill(nëdabah)[13] offering(zabach)[12] I will sacrifice to You; I will give thanks to Your name, O LORD, for it is good.”

The Corban under Herod and the Pharisees had become a system of social welfare through compelled offerings making their social safety net system to none effect. John the Baptist would oppose that system and the followers of Christ would go another way.

Leviticus 2:4 And if thou bring an oblation(qorban)[14] of a meat offering(minchah)[15] baken in the oven, [it shall be] unleavened cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, or unleavened wafers anointed with oil.
