There are several words related to Mamre ( מַמְרֵא)[1] which contains a Double Mem.

Mamre is said to be from Mara (ארָמָ MemReishAlef)[2] Which is said to mean "filthy" but the same letters(ארָמָ )[3] are also said to mean "lord" or "bitterness" (ארָמָ )[4]. The word marar ( מָרַר‎ ) [5] with a double Reish is also said to mean "bitterness".


Genesis 13:18 Then Abram removed [his] tent, and came and dwelt in the plain(בְּאֵֽלֹנֵ֜י bə’êlōnê) of Mamre (מַמְרֵ֖א mamrê) <04471>, which [is] in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.

Genesis 49:30 In the cave that [is] in the field of Machpelah, which [is] before Mamre <04471>, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.

Genesis 50:13 For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a possession of a buryingplace of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre <04471>.
