Genesis 32

Jacob's dream reveals the nature of the kingdom of God from the foundation upon earth to the heaven above. Babylon sought to build a tower from the earth to the heavens[1] but Nimrods method brought confusion and divided the people and scattered them as they degenerated becoming a top down rule of the Masses through the welfare State.
Jacob's dream talks of angels who may be messengers[2] who go up and down is about the form of governance required to become Israel.

Angels and Messengers
In V1 we see "the angels[2] of God" met(וַיִּפְגְּעוּ־ wayyip̄gə‘ū-)[3] Jacob. The original word translated "angels"(111) appearing here as מַלְאֲכֵ֣י mal’ăḵê but from מֲלְאָךְ mal'ak. It is often translated messenger(98) or even ambassador(4). And we also see this malake מַלְאֲכֵ֣י with a Yod in many other verses suggesting the presence of the "Spirit of God ":
  • Genesis 28:12 "And he dreamed and behold a ladder set up on the earth and the top of it reached to heaven and behold the angels (מַלְאֲכֵ֣י) of God ascending and descending on it."
  • Judges 11:13 "answered unto the messengers מַלְאֲכֵ֣י of Jephthah,
  • 1 Samuel 19:20 "the Spirit of God was upon the messengers מַלְאֲכֵ֣י of Saul,
  • 1 Samuel 25:42 "after the messengers מַלְאֲכֵ֣י of David,
  • 2 Kings 1:3 "to meet the messengers מַלְאֲכֵ֣י of the king"
  • Proverbs 16:11 "A just weight and balance [are] the LORD S: all the weights of the bag [are] his work. 12 [It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. 13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. 14 The wrath of a king is as messengers (מַלְאֲכֵ֣י) of death: but a wise man will pacify it."
V2 "When Jacob saw" the angels, "he said, This is God's host(ma·ḥă·nêh מַחֲנֵ֥ה MemChetNunHey The camp:) and he called the name of that place Mahanaim, maḥănāyim. (מַֽחֲנָֽיִם׃ MemChetNunYodMem Mahanaim).
Strong's defines this as "Dual of machaneh; double camp; Machanajim"
While the letters for the word camp (מַחֲנֵ֥ה) do appear twice in the text it is the two Mems, including the suffix YodMem as a substitute instead of only the letter Hey that defines its meaning. The letters ChetNun can mean favour <02581> or grace <02580> and Chet with a double Nun means mercy <02603> and chanah (ChetNunHey) meaning encamp because these camps are places where social bonds through mercy, favor, and grace are created.
"the angels of God" "For this unusual expression, cf. Genesis 32:1-2. The expression “the angel of God” is common, but that of “the angels of God” is most rare. We are to suppose that to the sleeper’s eyes were revealed the heavenly hosts, the members and attendants of the heavenly court." Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges
AI says "The term "heavenly host"[4] has a dual meaning in Abrahamic religions, referring to the stars in the sky and the celestial army of angels that serve God. As a host of angels, they are described as a vast army of spiritual beings who praise God, act as messengers, and participate in his divine plans. The phrase is also used in connection to God as the "Lord of Hosts," signifying his universal dominion over all armies and realms."
v13 "that which came to his hand a present(offering)[5] for Esau his brother;"
v24 The root word קבַאָ ‘abaq[6] is translated wrestled and is only found in verses v24 as וַיֵּאָבֵ֥ק (way-yê-’ā-ḇêq VavYodAlefBeitKuf) and in v25 בְּהֵֽאָבְק֖וֹ (bə-hê-’ā-ḇə-qōw BeitHeyAlefBeitKufVav). Both of these words are based on the root word אָבַק‘abaq[6]
Other word like pathal and naphtuwl are previously seen in Genesis 30:8, “‭ And Rachel said, With great wrestlings ‭ (patha לתַפָ[7]) have I wrestled (naphtuwl לוּתּפְנַ[8] with my sister, and I have prevailed: and she called his name Naphtali.”
But Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges says, "The word for “wrestled,” yêâbêk, is very possibly intended to be a play on the name of the river Jabbok as if it meant “twisting.” In Genesis 32:28, and in Hosea 12:4, a different word, “to strive,” is used for the “wrestling” of Jacob. It is this scene of “wrestling” which has become, in the language of spiritual experience, the classical symbol for “agonizing” in prayer."
Jesus agonized in prayer with the sweating blood in the garden before the crucifixion.
Jacob struggled, strived, or wrestled, supposedly, with some one called a man which is commonly ‘enowsh or אֱנוֹשׁ‎ but the word we see in the Hebrew is ’îš represented in the text with no Nun or Vav but only the letters אִישׁ֙ AlefYodShin which are normally not translated "man" but is translated "another".
We see in Hosea 12:4 "Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spake with us;" But the Hebrew text shows us the word mal-’āḵ מַלְאָךְ֙ which also translated "ambassador, angel, king, messenger" as we will see in the next chapter.
Jacob wrestled with something and there are those who want to make this struggle like two men rolling in the dirt. But the author is describing a deeply spiritual struggle with human earthly terms. While the story teller is inventing new words to describe the event and consequences the translators struggle themselves to draw a picture for the reader.
V28 "And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power(śārîṯā שָׂרִ֧יתָ ShinReishYodTav ) with God and with men, and hast prevailed." We see in Hosea 12:3 "He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power(śā-rāh שָׂרָ֥ה ) with God:"
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers discussing "The sinew which shrank.—This translation has much authority in its favour, as the LXX. render the sinew that became numb, and the Vulgate the sinew that withered... Technically it is called nervus ischiaticus,
The injury symbolizes the point at which Jacob's self-reliance was broken, forcing him to depend on God's strength rather than his own.

At its core, Tractate Chullin metaphorically argues that holiness is not confined to the Temple or specific rituals but can be found in ordinary, everyday life.

V30 Pni-El means face of God, pineal is derived from Latin pinea, which means pine cone, referring to the shape of the gland. There is a theory that suggests a metaphorical connection between seeing God's "face" and the pineal gland as the "seat of the soul" or "third eye". Adam and Eve hid from God but Jacob is seeking him. And it is a struggle.
Questions
1

Met angels

1 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels(mal’ăḵê מַלְאֲכֵ֥י)[2] of God met him.

2 And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host: and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.(ma·ḥă·nā·yim. מַֽחֲנָֽיִם׃ Mahanaim)

Sent Messengers

3 And Jacob sent messengers(hammal’āḵîm הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים )[2] before him to Esau his brother unto the land of Seir(שֵׂעִ֖יר śê‘îr), the country of Edom.

4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye speak unto my lord Esau; Thy servant Jacob saith thus, I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now:

5 And I have oxen, and asses, flocks, and menservants, and womenservants: and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.

Jacob fears being attacked

6 And the messengers (hammal’āḵîm הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים ) returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau, and also he cometh to meet thee, and four hundred men with him.

7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed: and he divided the people that was with him, and the flocks, and herds, and the camels, into two bands;

8 And said, If Esau come to the one company, and smite it, then the other company which is left shall escape.

Jacob prays

9 And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:

10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands.

11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children.

12 And thou saidst,[9] I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

A Present for Esau

13 And he lodged there that same night; and took of that which came to his hand a present(offering)[5] for Esau his brother;

14 Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two hundred ewes, and twenty rams,

15 Thirty milch camels with their colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.

16 And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every drove by themselves; and said unto his servants, Pass over before me, and put a space betwixt drove and drove.

17 And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?

18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's; it is a present sent unto my lord Esau: and, behold, also he is behind us.

19 And so commanded he the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this manner shall ye speak unto Esau, when ye find him.

20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me.

21 So went the present over before him: and himself lodged that night in the company.

Jacob secures his family

22 And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.

23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.

Jacob wrestles

24 And Jacob was left alone[10] ; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

Called Israel

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

The place Peniel

30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel[11]: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
