Genesis 28

Jacob's dream reveals the nature of the kingdom of God from the foundation upon earth to the heaven above. Babylon sought to build a tower from the earth to the heavens[1] but Nimrods method brought confusion and divided the people and scattered them.

If we examine the interlinear Genesis 28 we me discern the message of the text if we have eyes to see.
V1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed(וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ)[2] him, and charged(וַיְצַוֵּ֙הוּ֙ )[3] him(אֹת֔וֹ).
V3 "thou mayest be a multitude of people;" the word for multitude is 06951 liq·hal לִקְהַ֥ל an assembly
Verse 4 expresses the idea that Isaac accepts having given the "blessing(בִּרְכַּ֣ת)[4] of Abraham" to Jacob but he needs to take a wife from the family of Laban so that he "mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger"(מְגֻרֶ֔יךָ)[5].
The term stranger or me·gu·re·kā is only here in verse 4 and Genesis 17:8 "And I will give unto thee and to thy seed after thee the land wherein thou art a stranger (מְגֻרֶ֔יךָ)[5] all the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession(לַאֲחֻזַּ֖ת) and I will be their God".
The Dreams, visions, and the stones.
In Verse 10 it is said that
Jacob went out from Beersheba? Beer Sheba is normally בְּאֵר שֶׁבַע BeitAlefReish ShinBeitAyin but the text shows only the word saba 0884 šā·ḇa‘ which is ShinBeitAyin (שָׁ֑בַע) without Beer.
The text says he went out of Sheba not Beersheba?
Sheba can mean seven or also satisfaction.
Jacob lived a good life in his father's house. Now he was going into the unknown.
You could say he left a place where he was satisfied, i.e. his comfort zone.
Who would be his comforter now?
Who will lead him to become Israel?
And he went toward Haran from the word Charr which is 02787 חָרַר ChetDouble Reish meaning burned or parched place and because of the blessing he will be led "in spirit and truth".
Haran was not just an area or location, but these stories are allegories and we should look at the words as representative of a deeper meaning like the vision of Abraham and the smoking furnace and a burning lamp. A consuming sacrifice that brings with it a light, not darkness and degeneration. This passes through the sacrifice. There is, from the beginning, a distinction between two forms of sacrifice. That difference is found in choice.
V11 And he took the stones of that place and made a pillow of it.
The root word for stone is אֶבֶן‎ AlefBeitNun ‘eben[6] but we see in the text is mê’aḇnê (מֵאַבְנֵ֣י) MemAlefBeitNunYod.
This form of the word for stone only appears in this one verse beginning with Mem and ending with Yod which represent two new ideas.
Although a similar word form is found in Isaiah[7] and associated with Jerusalem but also the altar of Jehovahnissi which means The Lord is My Banner and the verse calls for us to "lift up a standard" which is a banner.
Did Jacob actually use a stone as a pillow or is there a deeper meaning?
Jesus Christ is described as the "Chief Corner Stone" and we are to be "living stone".
Verse 11 The Stone and the pillow continues to say "put them (the stone) for his pillows".
We see the phrase "and put it at" in the Hebrew as וַיָּ֥שֶׂם way·yā·śem VavYodShinMem from the root word שׂוּם‎ suwm ShinVavMem[8].
The first time we see this form is when Abraham "laid his son on the altar".
Questions
Was the divine spark, the Yod, telling him to lay his son on the altar to sacrifice the boys life and blood?
Was Abraham misinterpreting the nature of the revelation concerning sacrifice?
What was he going to be calling his son to sacrifice when he laid him down(way·yā·śem VavYodShinMem)?
Would Isaac rule like Terah the idolater, like Abimelech, or like Melchizedek??
In Verse 11 The word for pillow here is mə·ra·’ă·šō·ṯāw, מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֔יו under his head which appears again in verse 18.
This is a rather long version of the root word MemReishAlefHey used in the text.
"מְרַאֲשָׁה designates the area immediately beside or beneath a person’s head while reclining. Across its eight Old Testament occurrences the term anchors scenes of sleep, vulnerability, and divine intervention."[9]
The Pillow appears as:
Mem-Reish-Alef-Shin-Tav-Yod-Vav
The root of this long Hebrew word is from marshah and is given Strong's numbers from 04761-04763 concerning dominion and principalities.
Why Principalities[10], pillow (at the head)[11]. We should note that in Genesis 29 one of the first things we see in Verse 10 is "Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth" so that the sheep could drink and then go to graze.
A stone can make for an uncomfortable pillow.
Samson used Delilah as his pillow[12] and ended up losing his Vision.
This all happens as he approaches Haran and when he lay down to sleep from שָׁכַב‎ shakab[13] but appears in the text with the Yod (way·yiš·kaḇ וַיִּשְׁכַּ֖ב).
V12 And he dreamed 02492 way·ya·ḥă·lōm (וַֽיַּחֲלֹ֗ם ) from the root word חָלַם‎ chalam ChetLamedMem but beginning with VavYod.
The term "ladder" in Genesis 28:12 is translated from cullam (סֻלָּם֙) Samech Lamed Mem 05551 which is ‭from 05549 (סָלַל‎) calal saw-lal’ Samech Double Lamed and said to mean lift up in spirit and truth.
V14 "thou shalt spread abroad"(ū·p̄ā·raṣ·tā וּפָרַצְתָּ֛)[14] which is פ Pei ר Reish צ Tzadik ת Tav. The addition of the Tav is adding Faith in a process of clarification concerning the way of Abraham which was not the way of Abimelech nor Nimrod and Babylon.
V14 "and in thee and in thy seed"(ū·ḇə·zar·‘e·ḵā. וּבְזַרְעֶֽךָ׃)[15] shall all the families(miš·pə·ḥōṯ מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת)[16] of the earth be blessed.(wə·niḇ·ră·ḵū וְנִבְרֲכ֥וּ)[2]
The factions struggle for meaning like the Syriac version, the Peshitta, renders “and like an acorn that has fallen from its cup” clearly influenced by the Septuagint. While the Targum infers trees “when their leaves drop off" they remain "green enough to set the seed", the Vulgate can be rendered “(like an oak) that has expanded its branches”[17]

Questions
Why was he to be a stranger rather that a part of Canaan as a person like lot?
What did it mean to be a stranger (מְגֻרֶ֔יךָ)[5]?
In our study of Isaiah 62 there are to questions asked:
If the standard or banner of verse 10 to be raised is נֵ֖ס nês what does it have to do with the altar of Jehovahnissi(Exodus 17:15) which means The Lord is My Banner the call for us to "lift up a standard" which is a banner?
If from Melchizedek to Jesus who was the Christ followed the way of the righteousness of God, the Creator how does it differ from the Nimrods and Abimelech of the world?
If Jehovahnissi was an altar created by Moses after the war that provision and protection his people who suffered in the battle with the Amalek[18] then is that altar a continuation of a war against idolatry?[19]
If we closely examine Isaiah 62 calling for watchmen to prepare the people, by raising up this same form of banner as a call for God's people to rally to Him in a system of freewill offerings?
Did the way of Canaan make men merchandise and degenerate the children?
Was the way of Canaan in conflict with the way of Christ and the Corban of Christ?

Isaac calls Jacob

1 And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed(וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ)[2] him, and charged him(וַיְצַוֵּ֙הוּ֙)[3], and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

2 Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.

3 And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

Blessing of Abraham

4 And give thee the blessing(בִּרְכַּ֣ת)[4] of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham.

5 And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

6 When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padanaram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

7 And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padanaram;

Esau sees

8 And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan[20] pleased not Isaac his father;

9 Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife.

Jacob goes and dreams

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.

11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows(mə·ra·’ă·šō·ṯāw; מְרַֽאֲשֹׁתָ֑יו [11]), and lay down in that place to sleep.

12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

The LORD stood

13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad(ū·p̄ā·raṣ·tā וּפָרַצְתָּ֛)[14] to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

Jacob awoke at Bethel

16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar(maṣ·ṣê·ḇāh מַצֵּבָ֑ה)[21], and poured(way·yi·ṣōq וַיִּצֹ֥ק)[22] oil(še·men שֶׁ֖מֶן)[23] upon the top of it(rō·šāh רֹאשָֽׁהּ׃)[24].

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

Jacob vowed

20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,

21 So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar(maṣ·ṣê·ḇāh מַצֵּבָ֑ה)[21], shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.
