Creed
Creed defined
A "creed" is a statement of belief or a system of principles that influence one's life based on a personal set of convictions that guide one's actions but often shared within a community.
A creed is even said to be a set of beliefs, principles, or opinions that strongly influence the way people live or work.
Beliefs
"The word “believe” in the Bible means more than simply agreeing in our minds that something might be true. It means “trust”—that we believe so strongly in God that we are willing to commit our lives to Him and live the way we know He wants us to live.
Beliefs are thoughts or ideas an individual accepts as true or real, often with a degree of conviction,[1] even without absolute proof. They are fundamental to how people understand and interact with the world, shaping their actions, values, and interpretations of events. Beliefs can stem from various sources, including personal experiences, cultural norms, religious teachings, and philosophical frameworks but also by inspiration through revelation of the comforter.
The Creed of Abraham
Abraham's creed (aka the Millat-e-Ibrahim) refers to the religious beliefs and practices of Abraham, as depicted in the Bible in both Old and New Testaments and even the Quran, and forms a common foundation for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These religions, collectively known as Abrahamic religions, share a reverence for Abraham as a father of faith and a prophet. But how much do these modern versions of those religious groups actually adhere to Abraham?
It is the "actions and dialogues" of Abraham in the often allegorical stories within the context of his journey from Ur to Haran and as a Hebrew which may give us insight into the Creed of Abraham.
Abraham, like Moses, could have had a luxurious and prestigious life following the position and prominence of his father Terah. He forsook the society and security of the city-states and was commanded by his faith and conviction[1] to step out into the wilderness.
Abraham had been commanded to traverse the whole land (Genesis 13:17-18) and in Genesis 20:1 "...Abraham sought to dwell between Kadesh[2] and Shur[3], and sojourned in Gerar."[4]
The Hebrew term Gerar גְּרָר has a Beit at the beginning in this text and suggests the dwelling with or sitting in the house of Gerar. Gerar is spelled with a Gimel and a double Reish.
rather than the darkness in which people often sat in at the time of Christ.</Ref> We saw in Genesis 14 Verse 7 that Enmishpat (עֵ֤ין ‘ên מִשְׁפָּט֙ mispat)[5], which is Kadesh [6],means a fountain of justice.
Genesis 12:1-3: God calls Abraham and makes promises of blessing, land, and descendants, which form the foundation of the Abrahamic Covenant.
Genesis 15:1-6: God reaffirms His promises to Abraham, and Abraham's belief in these promises is accounted to him as righteousness.
Genesis 17: God establishes the covenant with Abraham, marked by the sign of circumcision, as an everlasting covenant for him and his descendants.
Genesis 22: The binding of Isaac (Akedah) reveals Abraham's ultimate faith and trust in God's mercy, even in the face of a seemingly contradictory command.
1. Obedience and Trust: Genesis 12:1: . "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you." Abraham's faith is evident in his immediate obedience to this command, even though the destination was unknown. Hebrews 11:8-10: . This passage highlights Abraham's faith as he obeyed God's call to leave his homeland, "not knowing where he was going." Hebrews 11:11: . Abraham is commended for believing that God would fulfill his promises, even when faced with seemingly impossible circumstances. 2. Faith and Works: James 2:22: "You see, his (Abraham's) faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete." This verse emphasizes the importance of faith being accompanied by action. 3. Faith as a Source of Righteousness: Genesis 15:6: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." This verse is often cited as a cornerstone of the concept of justification by faith, where God recognizes a person as righteous based on their faith. 4. Abraham's Faith as an Example: Galatians 3:6: . "Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." Paul uses Abraham's example to illustrate the concept of justification by faith for those who believe in Jesus Christ. Romans 4:3: . "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." This verse, along with other passages, highlights the importance of faith in God's promises. 5. The Depth of Abraham's Faith: Hebrews 11:10:
Abraham "was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God," indicating that his faith extended beyond the physical world to a spiritual realm.
'Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. ' And he was called the friend of God. You see then, that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only” (James 2:20-24)
The term Creed
The term "Creed" used to mean 'I engage'. It was supposed to be a personal profession of your deeply held opinion, that is to say convictions, which provoke you to action.
Any formal or official rendition of a creed of the Holy Church established by Jesus the Christ should consist only of the words of Christ and the Doctrines of Jesus.
Since His Church was "founded and established by Jesus Christ alone, to receive, preserve, and propagate his doctrines and ordinances" and He granted no power or authority to exercise control one over the other, and people of faith should only be the led by the Holy Spirit acting as our guide and comforter in the formation of a personal creed, which would have to be inconformity with the Creed of Christ.
Compare creeds
What about the creed[7] for true Christians who actually follow Christ?
A creed is even said to be a set of beliefs, principles, or opinions that strongly influence the way people live or work?
In both a creed causes action and influences what we do and the way we do it.
Anyone can voice a creed from words but only if it is from their own heart will their conviction cause the individuals actions to follow the way of Christ.
Many claiming to be followers of Christ may say "The Christian Creed refers to formal summaries of core Christian beliefs, with the most prominent being the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.
These creeds may serve as concise statements of what Christians say they believe about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and salvation as a basis for theological discussion.
But many of the things included in such statements may only be the Doctrines of men and often fail to guide actions or influence specific behavior which seem to be required by Christ as righteous of God which we are supposed to be seeking along with the Kingdom of God.
Any gathering of believers can express a creed in their heart and mind at a given moment but it should always include elements of the Creed of Chris evidenced by His word. Probably if a creed encourages by influence or allows actions contrary to Christ they would not be of the doctrine of Jesus.
A Church can also publish a creed but can they impose that creed upon another through the exercise of authority? Athanasius the champion of orthodoxy version of a creed against Arian withheld grain to starving people to force is beliefs.
Who is to define and explain it the creed of Christ but Christ and His Holy Spirit?
Do we have to agree with men who seek to exercise authority one over the other concerning the Creed of Jesus?
And who other than the Holy Ghost should have authority?

| The Apostles Creed and a creed specifically attributed to Jesus are not the same. The Apostles' Creed are an early attempt by men to establish an official summary of what some saw as "Christian beliefs", an attempt at codification'. While Jesus's teachings, which should be foundational to His form of Christianity, are not formally codified as a creed in the same way as those who met at Nicaea. "The ministers of God may seek to define the will of God in word and deed, but it is God who is the final judge of who conforms to the true Creed of God." If you were to attempt to sum-up what Jesus taught it must be accepted that "Jesus is Lord". This confession like "Jesus Christ our Lord", is repeated in the writings[25] of the actual Apostles and should be sufficient without adding to them. | ||

- “13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.” James 3:13-18
