Kadesh

Kadesh or Qadesh or Cades is a place-name that occurs several times in the Hebrew Bible, describing a site or sites located south of, or at the southern border of, Canaan and the Kingdom of Judah in the kingdom of Israel.

Kadesh also has the meaning of "holy" or "sacred" in Hebrew. It is a biblical place associated with significant events during the Israelites' journey to Canaan, particularly as a site of encampment and the sending of spies into the land.

There is no direct Greek equivalent for Kadesh[1] in the Strong's Greek Dictionary, as it is a proper noun specific to the Hebrew Bible.

However, the concept of holiness, related to the root of Kadesh, can be linked to Greek words such as ἅγιος (hagios), meaning "holy" or "sacred." For the Ishmaelites to be holy they would have to follow the ways of Abraham just as the sons of Jacob would have to learn the way of Israel, which is the way of Christ.

The Verb

The following is Excerpted from: Abarim Publications' Biblical Dictionary:

The verb קדש (qadash) means to be holy, which essentially means to be permanent and unalterable. This verb is the opposite of חלל (halal), to be profane, which actually means to pierce, and thus to alter or use until entirely worn. Over the centuries many items have been declared holy and kept in glass boxes and devoid of any practical usefulness, but despite the best intentions of men, everything falls apart and only the laws of nature are truly holy. The Bible's unique insight in these matters has the human embodiment of natural law pierced rather than preserved behind bullet proof glass. The hallowed alternative, still painfully rampant in our modern world, violates the First Commandment and is destined to be ruined by the very natural law it sought to represent.

The noun

Noun קדש (qodesh), meaning apartness or sacredness of items and places. The familiar term קדש הקדשים (qodesh haqodeshim), or Holy of Holies, is formed from this word. Adjective קדוש (qadosh) means sacred or holy. This is also the word for "saint." Verb קדש (qadash) means to consecrate, make or be holy. Nouns קדש (qadesh) and קדשה (qadesha) refer respectively to male and female religious prostitutes. Noun מקדש (miqdash), literally a place of separateness or holiness, denotes a religious place or facility.

Between Kadesh and Shur

To dwell between Kadesh[2] and Shur[3]. Kadesh means holy and holy means separate from something while consecrated to something else.

The root is composed of the "Redemption of Fallen Spark" (ק Kuf) in a union power of the divine or separateness (Reish) from that which falls short (Zayin) by way of Charity (ד Dalet) opening a door or pathway to that (ש Shin) Spiritual Revelation (Shur)[3] that comes with the pursuit of righteousness, which is the Divine Essence.

This is a journey back to the Tree of life from the tree of knowledge.

Gerar the place between

This place between is Gerar[4] which is not a physical place but the dwelling in the righteousness of God and not the ways of the world. The term Gerar in the text of Genesis 20:1 appears as Beit at the beginning of the Gimel double Reish (בִּגְרָֽר) which expresses the cause and effect of living within the house of the righteousness of spirit and truth.

But Abraham lived by faith and honor, compassion and sacrifice which brought him along a straight way of "righteousness".
