Revelation 14

The painting shows a Roman slave market with people wearing clay tablets to identify them and the owner of their labor. Identifying slaves or a citizen's eligibility for benefits and even a liability for taxes in Rome was often done with a clay plaque made with a charag to produce a "Charagma". The Greek word Charagma we often translate "mark" in Revelation specifically means a “badge of servitude”.
The ““mark” is specifically a “badge of servitude” based upon the Greek word Charagma and its use in scripture is evidence to show membership where you are required to “labor” without compensation which is the definition of “servitude”. The “beasts” in scripture is about the use of force. There is nothing in the text to suggest that the “Mark of the Beast” prophesied will be a chip and certainly it was not a chip under Caligula, Claudius, nor Nero.
See the Mark of the Beast.
Comments
Beasts[1] in prophecy are generally identified as governments. In Egypt the Israelites were bound by a different form of servitude as members of the corvee under the care of the Social welfare of the government of Pharaoh but this meant that all the citizens of Egypt owed 1/5 of their labor. This was the socialist bondage of Egypt.
What is your government issued badge of servitude required by law in almost every country in the world to get work, bank accounts, benefits, even a passport or identification?
Verse 1 is the Father's name written in their foreheads by adding a chip or is it about thinking like the Father in heaven rather than the fathers of the earth. Remember repentance is about thinking differently.
V2 The author writes of voices[2] that may be metaphor but that does not mean that others will be able to hear them.
V3 Many could not hear the voice of God at Mt Sinai and many will not hear the Song of the Lamb.
V4 They were not fornicating with the Harlot Church who rode on the back of the beast[1] for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb and the doctrine of Jesus and were not the merchandise of the rulers of the world being redeemed as the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb much like the Levites who were the church in the wilderness.
V5 The no guile[3] means none of the deceit you find in the doctrine of men and they are without spot[4] before the throne[5] preaching the Pure Religion of Christ and therefore of God in the world but not of it.
V6 The everlasting gospel is the Gospel of the kingdom from generation to generation that does not make men merchandise nor entangle them in a yoke of bondage.
V7Be moved by God, giving glory to his opinion and judgement which separates[6] man from the ways of the world; for the hour of his judgment[7] is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters[8].
V8 The way of Cain, Nimrod, Pharaoh, Caesar as the Son of God which all form the system of Babylon. This verse predicts that the great city of blood will fall like the unrighteous mammon. Social welfare through the Legal charity of the State which exercise authority like that of FDR and LBJ make the word of God to one effect like the Corban of Herod and the Pharisees. The wrath us the consequences of fornication with the harlot church who say it is okay to engage in covetous practices even though Paul says it is idolatry and a snare and Peter says it will make you merchandise and curse children.
V9 To worship the beast[1] is to serve that government, making the gods of that government your gods. To get the dainties and benefits of that world system, which is a city of blood where the people bite one another and requires [his] mark[9] which makes you merchandise in a bondage like Egypt again.
V10 The legal charity of the world degenerates the soul[10] and the wrath[11] comes as the consequences which tests the heart[12].
V11 Their torment[13] aloud no rest[14] for the burden of their worship the beast was grievous.
Those burdens are the consequences of not keeping the commandments.[15]
We a messenger with a sickle coming to reap but by verse 18 there is someone has liberty[16] over the fire.
The winepress of the wrath of God represents sever consequences of not keeping the commandments.[15]
The earth is made by God but the action and choices of men make the world of men according to the Law of Nature.
If you want to rule over your neighbor you will be rulled over. If you covet your neighbors goods you will become merchandise. If you bite one another you will be devoured.
V18 There is a messenger of God who came out out from the altar, which had the power choice[16] over fire;

The Lamb and the 144,000

[1] And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, [17] and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

[2] And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice[2] of many waters[8], and as the voice[2] of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

New Song

[3] And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

Not defiled

[4] These are they which were not defiled [18] with women;[19] for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

No Deceit nor Fault

[5] And in their mouth was found no guile[3]: for they are without fault[4] before the throne[5] of God.

The Messages of the Three Angels

[6] And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Worship the Creator

[7] Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment[6] is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters[8].

The consequence of Babylon

[8] And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Serving the beast

[9] And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man[20] worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark[9] in his forehead, or in his hand,

Test the sobriety of the soul

[10] "The same shall drink[10] of the wine of the wrath of God[11], which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation[21]; and he shall be tormented[12] with fire and brimstone in the presence[22] of the holy angels, and in the presence[22] of the Lamb:"[23]

[11] And the smoke of their torment[13] ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest[14] day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark[9] of his name.

Patience of saints

[12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep[24] the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

works do follow

[13] And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

The Harvest of the Earth

[14] And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

[15] And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

[16] And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

[17] And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.

[18] And another angel came out from the altar, which had power[16] over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.

[19] And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

[20] And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Doxa is a Greek word meaning common belief or popular opinion. Used by the Greek rhetoricians as a tool for the formation of argument by using common opinions, the doxa was often manipulated by sophists to persuade the people. The word doxa picked up a new meaning between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC when the Septuagint translated the Hebrew word for "glory" (כבוד, kavod) as doxa.
