V1 The serpent[1] was more subtil[2] which is to say crafty. The same letters NunChetShin nachash we see translated serpent are also translated divination or enchanter.[3] In the text we see וְהַנָּחָשׁ֙ wəhannāḥāš composed of VavHeyNunChetShin and not merely the base word for serpent ^שׁחנ^ NunChetShin nachash. Coupled with the fact this form is only found here and we know Hebrew words commonly have more than one meaning and the serpent could talk and was considered to be a crafty enchanter there is no clear reason to believe it is a snake like artists commonly draw. We should always careful not to add to the text without own imagination.
V4 & V5 The serpent said they would not die but be like gods deciding good and evil.
V6 The women ate and gave it to her husband who also ate.
V7 - V11 When they realized the were naked they knew the truth was that they had no authority to decide good and evil, especially concerning using the tree of knowledge. "Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God" because they knew they had done wrong but did not want to admit it.
'V12 Adam does not only hide from the truth he blames his error upon God and the woman God gave him. This was the beginning of sin.
The normal word of tree is ‘ets which is AyinTzadik[4] which is a source. But if you add a Hey like AyinTzadikHey it becomes the word counsel[5] or add a Yod becomes YodAyinTzadik meaning to advise, to consult[6].
In order to overcome the consequences of their sin against the creator we see them sewing fig[7] leaves[8] together to remedy their what we have been told is nakedness. Fig is normally TavAlefNun but in the original text we see TavAlefNunHey תְאֵנָ֔ה ṯə-’ê-nāh, which is translated occasion.[9] AlefNunHey is numbered 0579[10] and translated deliver or AlefNunHey as 0578[11] is translated lament but as 05927[12] it is translated up, offer, come, bring, ascend, go, chew, offering, light, increase, burn, depart, put, spring, raised, arose, break, exalted, and 33 other miscellaneous ways.
If this is an allegory the point is they tried to remedy the situation by covering it up and hiding rather than admission, confession and repentance.
'
Genesis 3:22 verse is so often misunderstood.
First there is no "us" in the original text. The word is mim-men-nū. The root word is NunVav but appears here and in over a hundred other places as MemMemNunVav and only translated "us" here. It is commonly translated "at" or "any" or "some" referring to a condition of something. Remember the Nun is the fish and Vav is a division word or a connecting word but nothing is connected in this word so to put it simply man is "a fish out of water", in this case out of the flow (MemMem) out of the stream of life, out of the way of Yah-weh.
Because we see the word Yah-weh in the text we know that it is Right Reason, Divine will, the "I am that I am" making judgement come into being. That means that what is to follow is built into the creation. It is predestined that if you eat of the tree of knowledge vainly deciding good and evil for yourself and even for others as Cain does eventually you will be separated from the tree of life which is the Holy Spirit.
In the very next verse that is what happens.
It is the Divine Nature of the "I am that I am" or Right Reason that drove the proud man who is unwilling to see the truth away. We see this in John 3: 20 "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
The Cherubim with its "flaming sword" is actually a beacon to guide you back when you are finally willing to repent and seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness instead of your own self righteousness.
The word for life in the "tree of life" is יח ChetYod which is in the Bible 500 times but in this verse it is HeyChetYodYodMem חַיִּ֔ים ha-ḥay-yîm, Which only appears 27 times. We lose a lot with these omissions of words and letters.
Genesis 3

1 Now the serpent[1] was more subtil[2] than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden[13]?

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig[7] leaves[8] together, and made themselves aprons.[14]

8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.

11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.

13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent[1] beguiled[15] me, and I did eat.

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent[1], Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;

19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. ģ 22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life[16], and eat, and live for ever:

23 Therefore the LORD God sent(wayšalleḥêhū, וַֽיְשַׁלְּחֵ֛הוּ, VavYodShinLamedChetHeyVav)[17] him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

24 So he drove out[18] the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.[16]
