Strong delusion

We see in 2 Thessalonians 2:11 "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"

What is this strong delusion?

And why does God cause it to be sent to the people?

The word we see as strong in the text is energeia^[1]most often translated "working" or "effectual working".

The word "delusion" is from the Greek word plane ^[2] from the Greek word πλάνος or planos^[3] meaning a wondering or misleading impostor or deceiver.

From the beginning women and men were deceived. Today there are thousands of denominations filled with Modern Christians who are all sure they are right and not deceived.

Peter warns us that we will become merchandise and curse our children. He uses the same word we see as delusion but it is translated error in:

2 Peter 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error <4106>.

And in:

2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error <4106> of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

It is very clear that it there is a real danger that through our own wantonness and desire for benefits to say nothing of our covetous practices that we may be deceived and again entangled in a yoke of bondage^[4] from which Jesus desired to free us.

In Jude 1^[5] we see this word delusion again translated error in relation to the error of Balaam which is the same as the deeds of the Nicolaitan and Cain. These deeds and errors are the same covetous practices done by the Pharisees with their Corban which made the word of God to none effect and now done daily by millions of Modern Christians who may seem nice but are under the same iniquitous and strong delusion.

Jesus tells us that "many" will think they are Christians but will actually be Workers of Iniquity.

How do we know we are not amongst the deceived?

We know that the prophecy is that the "whole world" will be deceived by deception from Revelation 12:9.^[6] How do we know that we are not already deceived?

We see this Greek word "plane" translated delusion only once. Seven times it is translated error. It is also translated to deceive and deceit once each. So the word may mean delusion in relation to an error related to deception.

How do we know we are true Christians or actually just deceived Workers of Iniquity?

People would have to be in a hypnotic state to believe that Christ wanted them to pray at a modern Church *building* but if they actually need anything they should go to *"men who exercise authority one over the other"*?
Jesus was so clear^[7] that His disciples were instructed to not be that way.
While the Testaments are also clear that you may legally apply for a multitude of benefits through a socialist state, but not without consequences. Dependence upon "legal charity" will make you "merchandise", "curse children" and bring again the captivity of Egypt. This is undoubtedly why both the Testaments tells us not to covet.
Those gifts, gratuities, and benefits are the wages of unrighteousness which destroy liberty and degenerate the people into perfect savages because they are the dainties and deceitful meats of rulers provided through the covetous practices of the world which "makes the word of God to none effect".
But the modern Christian does that every day to get free schooling for their children, and social security for their parents and a myriad of other public benefits imagining they are not "workers of iniquity".
How is that the daily ministration of the early Church, the table of the LORD which is not a snare? How is fhat seeking the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness? The Christian conflict with Rome was with the welfare system of the Imperial Cult of Rome and the public religion of the world and others like Herod and the Pharisees which was again "making the word of God to none effect".
We are to live by faith, hope, and charity which is love according to The Way of Christ and not the force, fear, and fealty which was the the ways of the world.

They do these things and actually still think they are followers of Christ or even know him like the Pharisees thought they knew Moses

We need to ask lots of questions.

Can you answer these questions in the context of their use in history and the Bible?

What was the bondage of Egypt, and why were we to never go back there again?
Have people given consent to a social compact that might enslave them, like in the days of Egypt?
Why would the slothful be under tribute?
Why did the Corban of the Pharisees make the word of God to none effect?
Why did Jesus say "Call no man Father upon the earth"?
Why did Jesus say not to be like the rulers who called themselves Benefactors?
Why did Peter say covetous practices would make us Merchandise and curse children?
What did Jesus list off as the Weightier matters?
Why did Jesus command that the people sit down in Tens?
What is Religion and what is Pure Religion?
What was Public religion and the imperial Cult of Rome? How did it differ from Pure Religion practiced by early Christians?
Why did the Church have a Daily ministration?
How do the Modern Christians differ from the early Church who followed The Way of Christ?
What were the deeds of the Nicolaitans, and why did God hate those deeds?
What was the Christian conflict with Rome?
Are modern Christians actually workers of iniquity?
Do people today make covenants with the gods of this world because they love the wages of unrighteousness?
What is the difference between the Baptism of John the Baptist and the Baptism of Herod or Constantine or Rabbinical Baptism?
Israel was not to have a golden calf but what did that mean?
What were the altars of earth and stone?
What are lively stones?
Was the Sabbath a way or a day?

More Questions

Were those rituals of ancient societies merely mindless acts of superstition, or were they metaphors?
What are the rituals of the Church, and do they point to The Way of Christ and God?
Could Welfare systems of the world be Snares and Traps?
And what does this all have to do with Nimrod, Cain and Caesar who called themselves Benefactors but exercise authority one over the other?
What was the Mark of Cain and the Mark of God and even the Mark of the Beast?
Did Constantine start a different Church not of Christ?
Why did the people have to sew Breeches for the Levites?
What was early Israel like before the Voice of the people rejected God?
Why were they organized by Tens?
How was the Early Church funded, and what did they use the funds for?
Did it operate by force or Freewill offerings?
Do all governments of the world operate according to the ways of God?
Or do they operate according to the ways of Cain and Nimrod?
Who were the Nicolaitans, and what did they do that included the error of Balaam, and why does God hate their deeds?
What was Christ trying to tell us about the Fathers of the earth and who are they?
And who is The Beloved Anarchist?
What do you want to do about all this?

To find the answers, we must seek and strive to do what Jesus said the way He said to do it... Including attending to the Weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith which include caring for the needs of our neighbors and the widows and orphans of our society through Pure Religion in matters of health, education, and welfare. We are NOT to provide for the needy of society through the Covetous Practices and the men who call themselves benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other like the socialists do.

The Way of Christ was like neither the way of the world of Rome nor the governments of the gentiles who depend on those fathers of the earth through force, fear and fealty who deliver the people back in bondage again like they were in Egypt. Christ's ministers and true Christians do not depend upon systems of social welfare that force the contributions of the people like the corban of the Pharisees which made the word of God to none effect. Many people have been deceived to go the way of Balaam and the Nicolaitan and out of The Way of Christ and have become workers of iniquity.

The Christian conflict with Rome in the first century Church appointed by Christ was because they would not apply to the fathers of the earth for their free bread but instead relied upon a voluntary network providing a daily ministration to the needy of society through Faith, Hope, and Charity by way of freewill offerings of the people, for the people, and by the people through the perfect law of liberty in Free Assemblies according to the ancient pattern of Tuns or Tens as He commanded.

The modern Christians are in need of repentance.

"Follow me!" —Jesus the Christ.

One of the most important things to do is to become involved in a network of Charitable Practices. Everyone should want to join a Living Network of Love and Charity.
