2 Timothy 3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness[1], but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.[2][3][4]
Comments
V1-2 Jesus is not impressed by the TEMPLE. No stone upon a stone was the way the kingdom of God was meant to be, made from unhewn living stone to form Living Altars of Men filled with the Holy Spirit.
V3-4 On the side of the temple, a select group asked what to look for "when all these things shall be fulfilled?"
V5-7 Was the "no stone upon a stone" about the destruction of that temple by Titus or about the authority of the new world order and the Mark of the Beast? Or about both?
V8-9 It could mean both expressing common principle that repeat in history.
V10 To publish is to officiate.[5]
V11 Not ye but the Holy Ghost should put words in your mouth and not the doctrines of men.
V13Persecution of Christians continued until this day but more than that many preach a false Christ where Christian persecute one another even betraying one another. To preach the whole gospel will likely incur the same hatred of the pharisees for Christ because many believe a lie.[6]
V14-18 There was an abomination of desolation[7], spoken of by Daniel because the abomination of desolation always come when you do not Keep the commandments
V19 Some of that affliction[8] and the abomination is associated with the covetous practices of the cities of blood which use systems like the Corban of Herod and the pharisees or the tables of rulers who exercise authority to provide benefits and dainties for the people but were also a snare and a trap that made the people human resource.
V22 The word Christ means the anointed and many may be anointed but many will be false prophets. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise.[9]
V24-27 These verses speak of apparent physical tribulation and the son of man and gathering his elect. In Revelation there is the Mark of the Beast but also the seal[10] of God.[11]
The seal seems to also include writing on your heart by God a new name.[12]
In verse 32 it may be interesting to note that it is the Father who knows but not the Son.
V33-37 There is an instruction to watch and to pray numerous times in the text.[13]
Questions
What would the abomination of desolation[7], spoken of by Daniel the prophet, look like today?
Was the Golden image of Nebuchadnezzar like the golden calf?
What does it mean to worship a graven image of gold?
Why does Jesus not know the date?
Why does Jesus not want the cup before him but consents to follow the divine will of the Father in Heaven?
Does the Logos of Christ differ from the word of God?
Was the kingdom of God at hand within the reach of the people?
Did Jesus take that government[14] from the pharisees and appoint it to His disciples? Was it another form of government?
What is wrong with national socialism?[15]

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple

[1] And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!

[2] And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Signs of the Close of the Age

[3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,

[4] Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?

Lest any man deceive you

[5] And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive[16] you:

[6] For many shall come in my name[17], saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive[16][18] many.

[7] And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.

[8] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

[9] But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils[19]; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

Must first be published

[10] And the gospel must first be published[5] among all nations.

[11] But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

[12] Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

[13] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure[20] unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Abomination of desolation

[14] But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation[7], spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

[15] And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:

Not turn back again

[16] And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

[17] But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

[18] And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

Shall be affliction

[19] For in those days shall be affliction[8], such as was not from the beginning of the creation[21] which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

[20] And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

[21] And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

[22] For false Christs and false prophets shall rise[9], and shall shew signs[22] and wonders[23], to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.[24]

[23] But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

The Coming of the Son of Man

[24] But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened[25], and the moon shall not give her light,

[25] And the stars of heaven shall fall [26], and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

[26] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

[27] And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

[28] Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

[29] So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors.

[30] Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.[27]

[31] Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

No One Knows That Day or Hour

[32] But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

[33] Take ye heed, watch[13] and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

[34] For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.

[35] Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

[36] Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

[37] And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.[13]

  1. A conscience seared

  3. Not inherit

  6. Why we Believe a lie
