What the Kingdom of Heaven is like is explained in parables. |
Parable of the sower of good seed who throws the seeds which may flourish or not. |
Why Parables? |
What are the Mysteries of the kingdom of heaven including the Mysteries of the Universe, like what is the "Mark of the Beast"? What is Mystery Babylon? The word "mysteries" in the New Testament is consistently translated from musterion.[2] |
V15 people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed... Matthew 15:V11, What cometh from the heart defileth?[3] like Matthew 15:V17-V19 but also V8 with their mouth, and ... lips; but their heart[4] is far... away from the God of heaven. |
V18 begins with the "You therefore hear". The Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers
states that "The “ye” is emphatic. The interpretation which is withheld from others is given to you." |
[19] ... heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth[5] |
[20] But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon[6] with joy receiveth it; |
[21] because of the word, by and by he is offended.[7] |
[22] ... the care[8] of this world <age>, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. |
[23] ..received seed into the good ground ... heareth[9] the word, and understandeth[5] it; which also beareth fruit... |
[25] But while men slept, his enemy came... "How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard[10] ? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man." Proverbs 6:9 |
[28] Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? |
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest... |
The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed. |
[33] The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. But the leaven though hidden must grow inside. |
[35] "...spoken by the prophet" Psalms 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: |
[37, 43]He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man... The field is the world... tares are the children of the wicked[11] |
How do you know which you are? Tare or barley? |
[44, 46]To Get the pearl of the kingdom ... sold all that he had, and bought it. |
[47, 48] kingdom of heaven is like unto a net... gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. |
[49] ...the angels shall ... sever the wicked from among the just, |
[50] ... there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. |
[51] Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord. |
[53] And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence. |
[54] In his own country,[12] ... they were offended[7] in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country[12], and in his own house.[13] |
[58] And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. |
The Parable of the Sower
[1] The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
[2] And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
[3] And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
[4] And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
[5] fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
[6] And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
[7] And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
[8] other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
[9] Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
The Kingdom of Heaven is like
[10] And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
[11] He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries[2] of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
[12] For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
The Purpose of the Parables
[13] Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see[14] not; and hearing they hear[14] not, neither do they understand.[15]
[14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:[16]
[15] For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see[16] with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
[16] But blessed[17] are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
[17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see[16] those things which ye see, and have not seen[16] them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
The Parable of the Sower Explained
[18] Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
[19] When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth[5] it not, then cometh the wicked[11] one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
[20] But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon[6] with joy receiveth it;
[21] Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.[7]
[22] He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care[8] of this world <age>, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
[23] But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
The Parable of the Weeds
[24] Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field[18]:
[25] But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
[26] But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
[27] So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
[28] He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
[29] But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
The Mustard Seed and Heaven
[31] Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field[18]:
[32] Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
The good Leaven
[33] Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven[18], which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Prophecy and Parables
[34] All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:
[35] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
The tares explained
[36] Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
[37] He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil[19]; the harvest is the end of the world(aion); and the reapers are the angels.[20]
[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.(aion)
[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.[21]
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
The Parable of the Hidden Treasure
[44] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field[18]; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
The Parable of the Pearl of Great Value
[45] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls[18]:
[46] Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The Parable of the Net
[47] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind[18]:
[48] Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
[49] So shall it be at the end of the world(aion): the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
[50] And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
New and Old Treasures
[51] Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.
[52] Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.[18]
Jesus Rejected
[53] And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
[54] And when he was come into his own country,[12] he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
[55] Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
[56] And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?
[57] And they were offended[7] in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country[12], and in his own house.[13]
[58] And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

- ↑ The way of error
- 2 Peter 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam [the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
- Jude 1:11 "Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 12 These are spots(not "unspotted" like Pure Religion) in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;"
- Revelation 2:14-17 "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication ("to permit one’s self to be drawn away by another into idolatry"). 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth [it]."
- Ezekiel 16:49 "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy."
- The way of the world is the way of Cain and His city-state, the Corban of the Pharisees and the cities of blood, Nimrod and the Nicolaitan, Babylon and Balaam, Sumer and Sodom, Pharaoh and the foolishness of Saul, and more recently FDR and LBJ and all the welfare States who use legal charity which is not The Way of Christ, the Kingdom of God nor the righteousness of God.

- Matthew 12:22-26 “22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?”
- Matthew 13:39-41 “39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;”
- Matthew 15:22-28 “22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”
- Matthew 17:15-19 “15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?”
- Mark 5:15-18 “15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. 16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. 18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.”
- Mark 7:26-30 “26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.”
