V1 If ye believe in God, believe also in Jesus and doeth according to the doctrine of Jesus as the Christ will repeat in verses 10, 15, 21 and 23 through 24.
V2 The Greek word for “house” (oikia)[1] is slightly different from that used of the material temple on earth in John 2:16 (oikon). Like 2 Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
The word mansion is also seen in verse 23 as abode.[2] Since, this word is said to be a metaphor of God, through the Holy Spirit, indwelling in many people rather than just one?
V3 Jesus prepare[3] the minds of men so their will be a place[4] for you to be received of Christ. Matthew 20:15 "Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?"
V4 And He tells them that they know how to get to where he is going.
V5 But Thomas doubts he knows the way.
6V Jesus clarifies the way and His way is that way of truth.
The Way "Jesus saith unto him, I am[5] the way, the truth[6], and the life:[7] no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
V7-11 repeats in several ways who and what the the Father is by saying If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. Knowing Jesus is not the same as knowing about Jesus nor claiming he is your Lord.[8]
V8 Philip asks to be shewn[9] us the Father but in V9 asks why you ask after all this time.
V10 Believest thou ... the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
V11 Jesus gives a choice to Philip Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. [10]
v12 Verily, verily or Truly, Truly, (Amen,Amen) These two form of belief produce different outcomes.
In the Greek the word for "I am" is "Ego".[11] which is used in various ways and like the name "I AM" may give us clue as to what Christ is telling us in these verses.[5]
V15 He explains to those who love Him keep my commandments.[12]
V16 He speaks of the Comforter, that may abide with us for ever;
V17 Says the world cannot receive the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit of truth.
V18-21 Jesus references that the world cannot see things of the Holy Spirit but we will if we keep His commandments.
V21-24 Who loves Christ and who loves Him not?
V25-27 "These things have I spoken"[13]
V28-31 Ye should rejoice.
Jesus' peace mentioned in verse 27 is not the peace of the world which was the PAX ROMANA expanded by ^the Emperator calleď Caesar who holding the offices of the "Son of God" for the Imperial cult of Rome changed Rome from a great Republic to a system of decadence and tyranny. Also, as president of Rome and Apotheos of the courts the were the blind leading the blind[14] while the people sat in darkness[15] eating from the tables of welfare which have always been a snare and a trap.
The Imperial Cult of Rome operated like the Corban of the Pharisees which exercised authority one over the other to provide free bread through the social safety net of their public religion. Such systems "made the word of God to none effect" and degenerated the masses as prophesied by the Bible, Polybius and Plutarch.

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house[1] are many mansions[2]: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place[4] for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Ye should know

4 ¶ And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.[10]

12 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.[12]

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Not comfortless

18 ¶ I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.[5]

Loves me loves me not

21 He that hath my commandments[12], and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode[2] with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

Things have I spoken

25 ¶ These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Ye sould rejoice

28 ¶ Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

John 8:28 “‭Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.” (future tense)
John 8:58 “‭Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” (past tense)
Jesus honoured, which is to magnify the Creator, rather than himself.
John 8:54 "Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:"
The Creator is the Father who gives life. To take life is contrary to the Logos of the I am The I am is the preexisting breath of the Creator of the Divine Will. Jesus was one with the logos of the "I am" of God made flesh. The people did not know the God that gave them life because the did not want to see themself in the light of His truth. Jesus brought the light and those that hated the light hated Him.
John 8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
Many may think they are born again but they do not love the light. They say Lord, Lord but are under a strong delusion and invent the doctrines of men so they may remain in darkness and in denial about the true Logos of God.
John 9:9;“‭Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.”
John 10:9 “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
John 13:19 “Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.”
John 14 “‭3 ... where I am, there ye may be also. ‭4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. ‭5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? ‭6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way(Egō eimi hē hodos), the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me(emou)... ‭9 ... Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:"

Matthew 2541 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
Luke 13:25-27 “‭25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: ‭26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. ‭27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.”
