Choose

Acts 15:7 "And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice^[1] among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe."

There is no sin without consent just as the power to repent requires the power to choose. The power to change requires the power to choose. Love is a product of choice. Love requires sacrifice which is why freewill offerings and charity were so much a part of the Old and New Testaments. Got created the individual where we may choose to eat of the tree of life or the tree of knowledge.

"Freedom is the Right to Choose, the Right to create for oneself the alternatives of Choice. Without the possibility of Choice, and the exercise of Choice, a man is not a man but a member, an instrument, a thing.” Archibald MacLeish

If you desire the right to choose you must protect the right of choice through the whole of society. To protect that liberty of choice within every society the people will be gathered together by the bands of Love or licentiousness, by charity or covetous practices.

We are endowed by Our Creator with that right to choose righteousness of the way or suffer the consequences of sloth and avarice for the right to choose includes the responsibility to choose righteously.

Tools of Choice

Everyone has trouble making choices.

The tree of knowledge is not our best nor should it be our primary source especially for making choices. As the story of the two trees goes there are only those two source available to man from which he can know the truth. It is the Tree of life which reveals the whole truth us and it requires us to see the truth about our selves, to know ourself just to approach or eat of its revealing fruit. To know the whole truth always requires humility.

All mankind sit in some darkness^[2] and have often in their life made some faltering choices. It can be painful to see our errors which again requires humility and patience.

The State and its courts, its human services, and medical marvels along with the politicians, bureaucrats, and professionals don't always make good choices either.

We often have little influence over the consequences of their choices despite the hollow promises of Democracy. But the Holy Spirit can influence them but if we let the Spirit of God influence us.

First, we must set aside our will, our fear, our anger, our vanity which feeds the spirit of unforgiveness. We must let go of all those vices that bias our perception of the truth about ourselves and about the world.

It is essential to Know thyself in order to critically know anything else.

That is seldom easy, and without the light of God it is impossible. To know thyself will bring us face to face with the conflict between our will and God's will. Our fear keeps us from faith and hope, and our unforgiveness keeps us from love and charity.

If you desire to know how to love and help other people we must first know ourselves which allows us to know the will of God who knows what everyone truly needs.

Forgiving others is a part of that process.^[3]

Evil, which is found in the darkness^[2] of the world, hates the light. It does not want you to forgive. It wants you to hate, be afraid, and be angry. It wants to keep you unforgiven and in the dark too.

People do sit in darkness again because they did contrary to the will of God and the doctrine of Jesus.^[2] They did not head the warnings of the prophets.

Like we said "unforgiveness keeps us from the love and charity" of God and therefor from the light only the God of creation can offer. So, we must forgive the evil in spirit and in truth in order to find the whole truth and see the choices before us in the light of that truth.

We often think we have forgiven others but that forgiveness should be tested or at least stand a test. Forgiveness is tested by our willingness to sacrifice/serve others, even those who despise and curse you.^[4]

To be forgiving and giving at the same time is thanksgiving (The Eucharist). We may find ourselves religiously doing at least two things especially if we do them according to the will of God:

First, leaving judgement to to God, which requires both belief and submission;

Second, our sacrifice/service must primarily be to God, our Father, not for personal gratification or praise of the people we serve nor others.^[5]

Neither of these practices (as deeds and actions) have anything to do with what we feel someone deserves.

Your service or sacrifice only has to do with serving the God of life and love.

There are lots of things that keep us from knowing ourself and therefor knowing the will of the Father.

Many of those things are already carried within our minds and spirit, and recorded even in our flesh:

Hate,
Anger,
Resentment,
Fear,
Pride,
Vanity,
Selfishness.

But also:

Trauma,
Drugs,
Injuries.

We must be healed of these, which is a process.

But the world and even the devil/adversary can also block or keep us off balance and anxious and out of sorts so that we cannot "be still"^[6] enough to know thyself and therefore also keep you from knowing the Will of God.

The phrase stated by both Jesus and John instructs us to "seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness" which suggest that act of seeking is part of a process. Also we are to repent which is to think differently.

It would seem reasonable to try to think like Christ who said to lay down our lives so that we can have a life more abundant which is a much different way of thinking than much of the world thinks today.

It would seem if we would deal with those things which are already inside us because they internal to us but not eternally with us. Psalms 46:10 says,

"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."^[6]

When you try to be still is to "watch and pray", a process where you may become aware and let go of those things already within you as they bubble up and reveal themselves in your mind, emotions, and body.

This process or exercise is called meditation.

If we would learn to properly and proficiently watch and pray^[7] , meditate, and confess and forgive those things that halt you own soul while trusting in God and hoping for His grace and protection, that is to say "Be still and know He is God then He be there with you.

Predestination

Predestination, in theology, is the doctrine that all events have been willed by God, usually with reference to the eventual fate of the individual soul.

Explanations of predestination often seek to address the "paradox of free will", whereby God's omniscience seems incompatible with human free will.

Freewill may be at the core of God's gift of life in love to man, and His Divine hope for man to choose to love Him back.

Predestination as a doctrine in Calvinism deals with the question of the control that God exercises over the world. In the words of the Westminster Confession of Faith, God "freely and unchangeably ordained whatsoever comes to pass."

"This terrible doctrine of predestination was taken up again in various forms at various ages by Cathars, Albigenses, Calvinists, and Jansenists, and was also to play a curious part in the theological struggles of Kepler and Galileo."

Is there any validity to the arguments in favor of predestination?

Once someone makes a choice, there may be a cause and effect which will produce an inevitable consequence. But to suggest that there is no choice at all, and we are condemned only to exist within the whim of God's singular power of choice, is to suggest there is no love.

There can be no such thing as love without choice. That is the way things work, by definition, love can only be a product of choice.

If there is no choice, we are just biological puppets. Can a puppet love? Can a robot?

How many times does the Bible talk about free will choice, freewill offerings, and free assemblies?

If there is no free will then why do we see the Bible talk about giving man choices, warnings, and even rebukes, none of which would be needed in a universe without choice.

Freewill offerings are mentioned dozens of time^[8] which we are told were offered "willingly".^[9]

We are told to choose and are given choices hundreds of times in the Bible. From the very beginning, there were explicit instructions about eating or not eating of the two trees.

Infact without some choice the law is superfluous and of no consequence along with judgement itself.

If God did not give man a right to choose, man becomes a mere toy in a childish god's sandbox.

But no, God is great, and gave enough of Himself to man that he not only has a right to choose, but is imposed upon by the responsibility to do so.

"Choose you this day whom ye will serve;"

Every choice is not yours to make. You are only predestined based on those fundamental choices you make.

You are supposed to choose to repent and to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, or you can "choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that [were] on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

Unfortunately, most people choose to serve those lesser gods many.

Where did it come from

Predestination as a theology seems to be constructed from the use of one word that appears in two places in the epistle to the Romans and Ephesians.

Romans 8:29 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

Ephesians 1:5 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will... 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:"

What was the purpose of Christ?

Was it to set the captive free so that he could make freewill offerings of charity in love for one another?

If everything is predestined that there is no charity nor love.

Do you imagine it was to start a church that says it is okay to covet your neighbor's goods through men who exercise authority one over the other, like the governments of the gentiles do?

Do you believe in the love of Christ that commanded that His disciples make the people sit down in the Tens so that they can form a network capable of a daily ministration that provides for the needy of society in Pure Religion through charity, love, and hope?

If you choose the unrighteous way of force, fear, and fealty, there will be sacrifice but little or no mercy.

In such covetous practices through men who exercise authority one over the other, you will be predestined for destruction through the strong delusion that the evil of coveting and biting one another is good.

But if you choose to live by faith, hope, and charity, which is The Way of Christ, you will have sacrifice too but also mercy. You will be predestined by that choice for eternal life.

So, you have the choice of loving the gods of this world who by their nature take away choice and make you mere [merchandise]], or serve the God of heaven by loving one another.

Out of time

God is out side of time and space. We are not.

God created a cause and effect universe.

God hates the deeds of the Nicolaitan. Why would he hate them if they were predestined?

The grace or wrath of God may be the effect caused by what you have done or will do if they are a product of a God who is outside of time or space and is the alfa and omega, the beginning and the end.
