The original term we see translated tradition is associated with paradosis[1]:'"to surrender to cities" and didomi "to give".
The Bible contains story after story about men who give themselves and their God given rights over to the cities of blood with appetite for the dainties of rulers which as "deceitful meats" are a snare. The false doctrines of men are the antitheses of the true doctrines of Jesus. Jesus the Christ told his followers to not covet the wages of unrighteousness offered by those rulers who call themselves benefactors but merely exercise authority one over the other.
Also the term
paradidomi[2] is translated deliver as in deliver up and even betray.

Tradition

The Pharisees were accused by Jesus of transgressing the commandments of God and even making the word of God to no effect by their traditions.

"But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?" Matthew 15:3

Would modern Christians be accused today by Christ of the same transgression by which he accused the Pharisees because of their present "traditions"?

The English word traditions today means, "what is a customary practice."

We should not just apply the most common meaning of tradition today to the text written in the scriptures but seek to the meaning intended by the authors.

The term we see translated tradition in the Greek text of the Bible is paradosis which shows up a dozen times in the New Testament scriptures[3] meaning "the act of giving up" and "the surrender of cities".

In Greek it meant "delivery (of goods, parcels, etc" or from a military view "surrender".)[1] is also translated "ordinances".

In Mark 7[4] we see the Pharisees Making the word of God of none effect through their tradition.[4] By the same verse 13 we could see they had many things they were doing to add to that effect of neutralizing the word of God.

We need to know what those traditions were, what was wrong with them. How can we make sure we are not doing that with our traditions today?

In verse 8[4] Jesus accuses them of laying aside the commandment of God replacing them with their tradition of men. In verse 11 we see that was the Corban of the Pharisees which was a system of the welfare state of Judea run through the temple in Jerusalem. That allowed children to often do "no more ought for his father or his mother" as we see in verse 12.[4]

The tradition of social security through the State by FDR does the same as the Corban of the Pharisees. The responsibility of caring for our parents was turned over to the civil state by the New Deal.

There are also traditions that have to do with the doctrines of men that counter the Doctrines of Jesus. Men create new things we are told we must believe in that Jesus never mentions. They impose the concepts on people which is bad enough but they often at the same time cause the people to walk in ways contrary to the Christ and The Way of righteousness.[5]


The ordinance of God are always the doctrines of Jesus which should never be replaced by the doctrines of men or their traditions.

Ordinances in the New Testaments

The word ordinance is defined today as "a piece of legislation enacted by a municipal authority." But when we see the term in the Bible it may have been used in a different sense.

The first place we see the term in the New Testament is Luke 1:6

And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances [6] of the Lord blameless.

The word here is dikaioma which is translated ordinance three times[7] but four times[8] it is translated righteousness.

It is also translated judgment twice[9]. It is even translated justification once[10] in Romans 5:16 where the word judgment had already appeared from the word krima [11]

The next time we see the word Ordinance in the Bible it is translated from a different Greek word diatage [12] which actually means disposition[13] or arrangement.

Romans 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

It should be clear that the appearance of the word ordinance in the Bible does not have to mean "a piece of legislation enacted by a municipal authority."

So, again another word is used the third time we see the word ordinance in the Bible which is paradosis[1]:

1 Corinthians 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

The word paradosis[1] is normally translated traditions a dozen times[3]

It is from the word paradidomi [2] which means to give into the hands (of another) and commonly translated deliver or betray. This word paradosis is probably closest to our modern use of the word ordinance.

There is still another word sometimes translated ordinance which is dogma [14] which can mean a public decree by a ruler like a king or Senate or government authority but is also defined as a doctrine which should normally mean teaching.

Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The word appears five times[15] in the Biblical text. Twice it references the decrees of Caesar in Luke 2:1 and Acts 17:7 and once the decrees of the Apostles Acts 16:4 but the apostles were forbidden to exercise authority one over the other like the Benefactors of the world. It should be clear that the apostles did not enforce their decrees like Caesar enforced his because Christ ordained a different kind of government or kingdom.

This is why we see in Colossians 2:14 that Jesus blotted out the handwriting of ordinances for true Christians who followed Christ in their hearts and in their minds.

Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"

Here is where we come to another Greek word dogmatizo [16] which is from that word dogma and translated "subject to ordinances".

Colossians 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

Here we might want to examine the word which also appears as rudiments and Elements.

Finally we find one more word translated ordinance which is in 1 Peter 2:13 "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;"

The word is ktisis [17] appears in 12 verses as creature[18], and creation 6 times[19] and even building once[20] and of course ordinances in 1 Peter 2:13 but means something you establish or create by agreements or contracts such as institutions like civil municipalities.

Decree

Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree[14] from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
Acts 16:4 And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees[14] for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
Acts 17:7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees[14] of Caesar, saying that there is another king, [one] Jesus.

We see the word decree in Corinthians but it is from the Greek word Krino.[21]

1 Corinthians 7:37 Nevertheless he that standeth stedfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed[21] in his heart that he will keep his virgin, doeth well.

The word means separate but is translated many different ways such as -judge 88, determine 7, condemn 5, go to law 2...

It appears in almost a hundred verses:[22]

The pharisees were experts and said they were Jews as followers of Moses and Abraham. Jesus called many of them vipers and hypocrites and others would say that they were "the synagogue of Satan" the congregations of the adversary of what Jesus said.
How did they get it so wrong?
Were they blinded by pride, greed, hate and judgement?
What is the opposite but humility, generosity, love and forgiveness?
What blinded them?[23]
Why did they live in darkness? [24]
Why did they not understand the word, the Logos of Christ and the Father?
Their Corban caused their worship to be in vain making the word of God to none effect.
In their blindness they made their Doctrines of men.
Some say they are Christians today but are they too workers of iniquity engaged in covetous practices?
God hates the deeds of the Nicolaitan which is also the error of Balaam. Repent! And Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Most "modern Christians" believe in "doctrines of men" that are posing as the doctrine of Jesus. They are in need of repentance just like those men who call themselves New but are adversaries of The doctrine of Moses and Abraham.

Doctrines of men

We can look up the Doctrines of Jesus by reading those printed statements of parables, directives, and doctrines in the red-letter Bible.

Since, the Church was established by Christ we can easily reason that the doctrines of the Church must be limited to the Doctrines of Jesus if those institutions calling themselves churches are truly His Church.

The creation of new doctrines by men through the logic and private interpretation of men and their institutions of authority should always be questioned, especialy since it was a directive of Christ that His disciples did not exercise authority one over the other.[25]

We have been warned that men who often "lack knowledge"<Rek name"'lackkn">Lack knowledge

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. 13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.</Ref> of God will produce teachings contrary to the word of God and even the impose directives and commandments that are false while proclaiming themselves to be of Christ.[26]

The often errant, fictional, and private interpretations of the Torah by the people like the Pharisees, Sadducees, and Zealots who distorted the truths expressed by Moses at the time of Christ had brought Jews into an apostasy that made the Word of God to none effect.

back then was a pervasive result of the Sophistry of vain scholars climbing around in their own personally tree of knowledge.

There are a myriad of doctrines amongst the modern Christians that are a part of what Jesus meant when he referred to the need for us to "Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees".[27]

That leaven was about more than adding the doctrines of men but it included doctrines which seared the conscience with vanity and self Righteousness. It would be the blind leading the blind.[23]

Quora Question

Quora asked the question "Where in the Bible does it say that after a person dies they go to heaven or hell right away?" Answer were all over the place yet the idea is common among many religions yet the Bible says very little about the idea.

Someone wrote that at death we sleep and there is such a reference in the text when Jesus says Lazarus sleeps and he goes to wake him.[28] One individual on Quora added the comment that when we sleep we are “unaware of what is occurring around them”. This idea is added to the narrative by people’s imagination and is contrary to what we can see in the text. Many times in the Bible revelation, inspiration, and messages come to people when they sleep.

They go on with the statement “until they are resurrected at Jesus’ second coming” which is also a man made created doctrine from bits and pieces that are not detailed in the text as much as the many direct statements made by Jesus that seem fundamentally and consistently ignored.

There are many such doctrines created by modern religions who do not practice “Pure Religion” or even know what that phrase means. They are so focused on these many “doctrines of men” until they become “workers of iniquity” and do not even see the obvious truth of what Jesus directly stated.

Some are already “asleep”. Some are even “dead”[29] already according to Jesus because they “sit in darkness”.[24]

You can make the bible mean whatever you want if you leave out the inconvenient truth and people often do. They often unmoor the metaphors from the meaning in order to create these doctrines of men and leave off the weightier matters which Jesús spoke about very clear without metaphors.

It was obvious that part of that righteousness we are suppose to be seeking was to "Keep the commandments" and to not covet thy neighbor's goods nor anything that was thy neighbors. And were were certainly not to do it through governments exercise authority.[25]

There are many places in the Bible that suggest something about life after death but mostly it is concerned about what you do in this life. The foundational statement of the Gospel is to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all else will take care of itself.[30]

Meanings and means

The metaphors built into the Hebrew language lend themselves to creating new doctrines by denying alternative uses of words or by altering their meaning. The Pharisees were known to unmoor the meaning of the metaphor until they were worshiping the letter as they interpreted it leading to many false doctrines which created traditions that weakened the poor[31] and the general population from the righteous ways of God.

There are traditions that have to do with the doctrines of men that counter the Doctrines of Jesus. Men create new things we are told we must believe in that Jesus never mentions. They impose the concepts on people which is bad enough but they often at the same time cause the people to walk in ways contrary to the Christ and The Way of righteousness.[32]

Means and methods

We were not to do lie those who say in the governing seat of Moses. At least some of the reason for that instruction was their Corban.

Men establish doctrines of their own by studying the Bible and constructing additional doctrines based on their private interpretation, study, depending on their conjecture rather than the true comforter.

Some of these doctrines of men may be true but some may be false or misleading.[33] using the Bible.

While we may certainly examine these doctrines of men we should never let them divide us into denominations for the denominator of the Church appointed by Jesus and the Kingdom of God is Christ alone.

To fail to put His teachings first will allow false christs to overshadow the true Doctrines of Jesus with the traditions of men, even if they are gleaned from the Bible.[34]

Our dependence upon the the covetous practices of legal charity of the Public religions of the world has returned the masses to become entangled again in the yoke of bondage. We have need of repentance.

"Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know [these things] before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness."
  27. Bread of oppression
    Matthew 16:6 "Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees... 11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake [it] not to you concerning daily bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12 Then understood they how that he bade [them] not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
    Mark 8:15 "And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and [of] the leaven of Herod."
    Matthew 16:11 "How is it that ye do not understand that I spake [it] not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?"
    Mark 8:15 "And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod."
    Luke 12:1 "In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy."
    Jesus and John the Baptist opposed the leaven of Herod, the Pharisees and of the Sadducees because they misinterpreted the way of Moses and the LORD. They collected the resources for their tables of welfare, their social safety net of free bread and care for the needy of society through forced offerings. Peter, Paul, David, and the prophets have been warned us that such covetous practices were setting a snare and a trap. Herod and the Pharisees had set up a system of legal charity rather than fervent charity which always makes the word of God to none effect so that Christ would say the kingdom of God shall be taken from them and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits. We should know that their system "degenerates" the "masses" until they become "perfect savages". Legal charity and its benefits and dainties provided through men who exercise authority are the wages of unrighteousness and the covetous practices that makes men merchandise and will curse children.

    GOD

    CHRIST
    Jesus was in fact God incarnate in human form. He is the second person in the Trinity who came to live among us, die for us, and resurrect that someday we might be able to live with Him forever.
    THE HOLY SPIRIT
    The Holy Spirit is not merely a force, but has all the attributes of personality and is also God as the third person of the Trinity.     PEOPLE
    People are unique beings. Contrary to the evolutionary view of origins, the biblical view of people identifies them as unique from animals, created in the image and likeness of God. People have both a physical and metaphysical aspect — body and soul or spirit. Because of our ancestral parent’s failure to obey God, sin was introduced into the human experience — causing the need for reconciliation to God our creator.
    SALVATION
    The single most significant experience in life is that involved in receiving the salvation provided by Christ on the Cross. This experience involves conversion, regeneration, justification, and sanctification and grants us eternal life with Christ.
