Sin of Sodom
Are we Mystery Babylon ... are we Sodom?
- "And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;..." Genesis 18:20
What makes sin very grievous?
Most people will tell you that the sin of Sodom was sodomy but that is not what Ezekiel tells us.
- "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." Ezekiel 16:49
The word strengthen[1] is from the root KufZayinChet but here we see it written with additional letters of HeyKufYodZayinChetHey הֶחֱזִֽיקָה preceeded by the negative LamedAlef.
- ה Hey Expression--Thought, Speech, Action. Manifest seeds of thought and life. [Emphasize, jubilation, window, fence] (Numeric value: 5)
- ק Kuf or Kof Omnipresence - Redemption of Fallen Sparks The paradoxical union Reish and a Zayin holiness or separateness omnipresence of God [Cord and needle 𐤒 ... back of head neck... the last or least] (Numeric value: 100)
- י Yod The Infinite Point of essential good. Divine spark hidden in the ט Tet. Spark of spirit. [closed hand... Deed, work, to make] (Numeric value: 10)
- זָ ז Zayin The "Crowned" head. The Service and Valor, cut and bread, war and nourish. [weapon.... Cut, to cut off, manacle] (Numeric value: 7)
- ח Chet The Life Force - Dynamic nature of - cause and effect - give life and live.[fence, thread, hedge, chamber...cycle] (Numeric value: 8)
- ה Hey Expression--Thought, Speech, Action. Manifest seeds of thought and life. [Emphasize, jubilation, window, fence] (Numeric value: 5)
- This word HeyKufYodZayinChetHey הֶחֱזִֽיקָה [he·ḥĕ·zî·qāh] has to do with the Expression of Thought manifesting in Speech and Action in a process of Redemption of the Fallen Spark of God ... the rekindling of the divine spark in man through The Service and Valor of The Life Force and the Dynamic nature of the cause and effect through the manifesting nature of the power or spirit of creation working in us.
The sin was not that there was no free bread or welfare from the city but that the form and manner of that welfare failed "to be or grow firm or strong, strengthen" the hand[2] of the poor[3] and needy[4].
The socialism and common purse of Sodom weakened the people. It made the government the owner of the possessions of the people and even the people[5] themselves as human resources.
Salvation from Sin
Abraham, Moses', and Christ's form of government returned every man to his family and to his possessions.[6] But the covetous practices of the people and the exercising authority of civil benefactors of the world not only make the word of God to none effect it makes the people merchandise and curses their children.
The Way of righteousness leads to liberty under God. All other ways are sin.
Sin
What is sin?
The word translated sin in the text is chatta’ah which is ChetTetAlefHey.[7] Although in this verse we see additional letters added to the primary word. VavChetTetAlefTavMem וְחַ֨טָּאתָ֔ם which is wə·ḥaṭ·ṭā·ṯām. It is consistently translated "and their sin". The letter Tav meaning "faith" and the letter Mem tells us this has something to do with the "flow of faith". The Vav at the beginning may be inferring that there is a separation because people are cut off from the "flow of faith". The root word is chata[8] which is some times translated sin ut specifically means "to miss the way, go wrong."
What we often call sin is really only the evidence that we have separated ourselves from the righteous way by going or being led off the path. Sodomy, covetousness, or acts of wantonness or violence or addiction may merely be evidence that we have abandoned a natural life of faith and charity.
Supporting the poor with funds forced from one class of citizens or people by the exercise of authority by the State as we see in all forms of Socialism brings the whole of society into bondage, often addicting the people to a dependence upon the State as the power elite of the State becomes just as addicted to the power the exercise one over the other.
If a society accepts the idea that forced offerings extract from the people to provide welfare for the people is acceptable all of society will go under the power of that force. Only a society willing to support the needs of society with freewill offerings and a daily ministration through charity will remain free under the perfect law of liberty.
Polybius said it best.
"The masses continue with an appetite for benefits and the habit of receiving them by way of a rule of force and violence. The people, having grown accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others... institute the rule of violence; [9] and now uniting their forces massacre, banish, and plunder,[10] until they degenerate again into perfect savages and find once more a master and monarch." [11] [12]
- Polybius saw the downfall of the republic by way of their free bread and welfare a 150 years before the first Emperor of Rome and 175 years before the birth of John the Baptist and Jesus the Christ who opposed these same systems of free bread at your neighbor's expense.
- The authoritarian State often uses force and violence to become the Benefactors of the people if the covet what is their neighbors'. They make a social contract where one class of citizen is forced to provide for another class through "legal charity" which is not true charity. The writings of the Apostles warned along with countless passages of ancient writings of the prophets including Proverbs 23 which warned them about what Christ forbid which was the covetous practices of socialist forms of government.
If people leave the righteousness of The Way there will be sin and the evidence of sin is seen in their wantonness for the wages of unrighteousness and their fear of choosing a life of faith. The poor will be weakened and society will go under tyrants until it falls. Not only the Ten Commandments but the long list of sins given us by Paul is warning us that we are going wrong and we will Not inherit the kingdom.
This is not to say that we are saved by works but if we are workers of iniquity in our practice of religion or works or lack of them give us a warning that our faith may not be as real as we would like to think.
Peter, Paul, James, and John Warned
Peter[13], Paul[14], James[15] and John[16]all 'warned the New Covenant Church that what they were doing and not doing would reveal the truth of their claim to faith in God and His Holy Spirit. Paul warned people to test their faith[17] to make sure they were not deceived or reprobates[18].
Even John warns that we need to walk according to what Jesus showed us and confess our sins if we are to be cleansed of unrighteousness.[19] John even gives the keeping of the commandments as the rod by which we measure the truth of our faith.[20] And those who do not keep the commandments are a liar and Christ is not in them.[21] Over and over John repeats that he that "doeth not righteousness" is not born again of Christ and the Father.[22] And John warns us that we may not only be deceived but may deceive ourselves [23] warning us of the many false teachers who are "out in the world".[24]
Jude 1:16 "These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words], having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage."
We are told that we are told in Jude 1:21 "Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."
The Bible from the beginning warns[25] and continues those warnings throughout the New Testament that many will be decieved thinking they are believers while in truth they are workers of iniquity.[26] Because these warnings are ignored by the modern Church, the welfare of a foolish[27] society has become a snare.
- “It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.”[28]
The lamentation of the fool
In order to stand for the good you need to know what is corrupt.
When the blind lead the blind they both will fall into a pit.[29]
What made the people of Sodom human resources, literally merchandise of the king, was that system of social welfare through the State.[30]
The masses have been tempted throughout the ages to institute the rule of force through the foolish rulers who offer dainties of free bread which will turn them into perfect savages.
- "That the man who first ruined the Roman people twas he who first gave them treats and gratuities" Plutarch's Life of Coriolanus (c. 100 AD.)
The reason this ruined the Roman people is because social welfare through the power and authority of the government, also called "legal charity", which robs the people of the wisdom and social bonds which only comes through the pain of voluntary Sacrifice out of love of neighbor.

Polybius: The Histories (composed at Rome around 130 BC)Fragments of Book at Loeb's classic library, or see our comparison of translations at Polybius#Translations_compare
- ↑ An alternate translation in context, "9. For no sooner had the knowledge of the jealousy and hatred existing in the citizens against them which is replaced by democracy, emboldened some one to oppose the government by word or deed, than he was sure to find the whole people ready and prepared to take his side. Having then got rid of these rulers by assassination or exile, they do not venture to set up a king again, being still in terror of the injustice to which this led before; nor dare they intrust the common interests again to more than one, considering the recent example of their misconduct: and therefore, as the only sound hope left them is that which depends upon themselves, they are driven to take refuge in that; and so changed the constitution from an oligarchy to a democracy, and took upon themselves the superintendence and charge of the state. And as long as any survive who have had experience of oligarchical supremacy and domination, they regard their present constitution as a blessing, and hold equality and freedom as of the utmost value. But as soon as a new generation has arisen, and the democracy has descended to their children’s children, long association weakens their value for equality and freedom, and some seek to become more powerful than the ordinary citizens; and the most liable to this temptation are the rich. (which degenerates into rule of corruption and violence, only to be stopped by a return to despotism.) So when they begin to be fond of office, and find themselves unable to obtain it by their own unassisted efforts and their own merits, they ruin their estates, while enticing and corrupting the common people in every possible way. By which means when, in their senseless mania for reputation, they have made the populace ready and greedy to receive bribes, the virtue of democracy is destroyed, and it is transformed into a government of violence and the strong hand. For the mob, habituated to feed at the expense of others, and to have its hopes of a livelihood in the property of its neighbours, as soon as it has got a leader sufficiently ambitious and daring, being excluded by poverty from the sweets of civil honours, produces a reign of mere violence. Then come tumultuous assemblies, massacres, banishments, redivisions of land; until, after losing all trace of civilisation, it has once more found a master and a despot." For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

- Isaiah 42:13 The LORD shall go forth as a mighty man, he shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry, yea, roar; he shall prevail against his enemies. 14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once. 15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools. 16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them. 17 They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, Ye are our gods. 18 Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see. 19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD's servant? 20 Seeing many things, but thou observest not; opening the ears, but he heareth not. 21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable. 22 But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore. 23 Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
