Betrayed Christ new the sacrifice he was going to have to make. Do you? | |
The plot Why did they feel the need to kill him?< Mark 14:1 "After two days was [the feast of] the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put [him] to death. ..." What was the driving force behind their efforts? Understanding the story of the moneychangers (following the money) and the system of Corban which made the word of God to non effect should clarify why there was such a conflict. Their religion had become the legal charity of Herod and the Pharisees rather than the pure Religion of fervent charity taught by Moses, the prophets, John the Baptist, Jesus, and apostles. Christ opposed the dependence of the people on these benefits because these covetous practices will always degenerate the people like in the days of Sodom. Christ was teaching the way of righteousness but they were teaching the way of unrighteous mammon which offers wages of unrighteousness was full of leaven but a snare. | |

Keep the passover Jesus would keep the passover but the Pharisees would not because their borders were full of leaven. What and where is that Leaven? | |
Sharing with Traitors Can you love your enemy even though his heart is willing to betray you? Do you trust The Way and judgement of God? Most people cannot assemble with their neighbor without dividing them with ideologies and the doctrines of men. Will you gather in love and sacrifice like Christ? Likewise also said all the disciples. Gethsemane[36] Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. [37] And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. [38] Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch[7] with me. O my Father[39] And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. One hour[40] And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch[7] with me one hour? [41] Watch[7] and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Second hour[42] He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. [43] And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. Third hour[44] And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.[5] [45] Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.[2]

As a thief[55] In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me. [56] But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. [57] And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. Peter followed[58] But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end. false witness[59] Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council,[8] sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; [60] But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. They answered and said, He is guilty of death. [67] Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, [68] Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
