Moses provides a narrative by summarizing the story He wishes to tell first. He is telling us that God is going to be the cause that will effect the outcome that he will see. | |
In V3 we see JEHOVAH but the original text it is YHWH the same word we see in verse 1 and 2 translated LORD. | |
V4 speaks of God establishing[1] His covenant[2] to give[3] the land[4] of Canaan to the people. The Hebrew word for give[3] is normally "nathan" NunTavNun but in V4 and V8 we see La’tet. </Ref> written as Lamed-Tav-Tav לתת, with a double Tav. | |
"Latet" and the double Tav: Normally written "nathan" NunTavNun but in V4 we see La’tetCite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag which does not appear as the normal ChetTavNun חָתַן or chathan but is TavTavChetTavNun תִתְחַתֵּ֖ן ṯiṯ-ḥat-tên which is about making contracts, covenants and constitutions with someone in Spirit and Truth because of the double Tavs which suggests righteousness. In Mark 7: 10- 13 Corban (Sacrifice) that is to say ( רצון לתת Ratzon La’Tet), a gift to God, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free of charge.” - | |
There are well over a hundred variation in the Hebrew text for this word[3]. In V4 and means the to give which includes the will to receive on condition. In V4 we see the words I will give which is normally nâthan, NunTavNun[3] but in the text we see another variation again wənāṯattî VavNunTavTavYod וְנָתַתִּ֨י with another double Tav which means that Israel must be willing to accept the gift on the conditions of their conformity to the righteousness of God in "Spirit and Truth". | |
V12 What are "uncircumcised lips"? The word for lips[7] is saphah ShinPieHey (שָׂפָה) but here we see śəp̄āṯāyim ShinPeiTavYodMem (שְׂפָתָֽיִם׃). The word translated uncircumcised is also translated unskilled and is ‘ăral[8] AyinReishLamed (עֲרַ֥ל). | |
V13 "gave them a charge unto the children of Israel" Charge is tsavah TzadikVavHey[9] but we see way·ṣaw·wêm (וַיְצַוֵּם֙) VavYodTzadikVavMem ehich we will see again Exodus 34:32 and most often translated command. | V14 to 25 is the genealogy of the Levites. |
V26 The phrase "their armies" is from tsaba’ TzadikBeitAlef[10] but the word in the text is ṣiḇ·’ō·ṯām TzadikBeitAlefTavMem (צִבְאֹתָֽם׃) which only appears hear and in Exodus 12:51. A similar form is also seen in Exodus 7:4 TzadikBeitAlefTavYod | |

God Promises Deliverance
1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
4 And I have also established[1] my covenant[2] with them, to give[3] them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am the LORD.
9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
10 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11 Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
12 And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?
13 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.

23 And Aaron took him Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, to wife; and she bare him Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
24 And the sons of Korah; Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph: these are the families of the Korhites.
25 And Eleazar Aaron's son took him one of the daughters of Putiel to wife; and she bare him Phinehas: these are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.

27 These are they which spake to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these are that Moses and Aaron.
28 And it came to pass on the day when the LORD spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
29 That the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, I am the LORD: speak thou unto Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.
