Fables
Are there fables in the Bible?
A Fable is a short story—usually with animals as the main characters—that conveys a moral. ... but can also be a myth and legend or a false statement or belief.
- 1 Timothy 1:4 "Neither give heed to fables[1] and endless genealogies[2], which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do."
Allegories
We know there are allegories.
- Galatians 4:24 "Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar."
An Allegory is also a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one.
Parables
And there are parables, too. Parables are short stories that teach a moral or spiritual lesson.
A Parable is a short story that teaches a moral or spiritual lesson.
The Levites and Pharisees were steeped in practices they thought the Torah told them to do but they were not bearing the fruit of sacrifice and love which the early Church "called out" by Jesus would generate by what they did. The replacing the ritual altars of the apostate Levites with the living altars of stone that the original Torah had meant to be from the beginning was a part of the redemption of those Jews who repented.
- 1 Timothy 1:3 sought to stop people from teaching other doctrine. The Church was preoccupied with providing benefits and care through a daily ministration of charity and faith as the government of God.
Modern Christians often do not understand that Jesus preached a government, took the government from the Jews and appointed it to others who were also Jews. They were doing the job of that government which is spelled out in the Old Testament.
Unmooring the meaning
The meaning of metaphors in stories must not be unmoored from the message of religion or else superstition and the confusions of false religion will reign in the minds of men and women.
Unfortunately most Modern Christians do not understand the Old Testament. The sophistry of the Pharisees and their blindness to the covetous practices of their Corban was directly contradictory to the Doctrine of Jesus. That is also true for the modern Jews and even Messianic Jews. This lack of understanding is because of a Cognitive dissonance which began when we started eating of the wrong tree.
But Paul also wanted the people to avoid fables like those spread by people who had the same mind set as the pharisees or the Nicolaitans which was the error of Balaam.
While the ministers of God were being the government of God others were more concerned with form and practices, words and phrases, jots and titles, and the private interpretation and personal doctrines rather than the weightier matters of the doctrine of Jesus.
Some may not want to be ruled over by the governments of the world and even avoided eating the dainties of rulers at the tables of kings which was a snare but they do not understand what it takes to set the table of the Lord.
We not only show how the Modern Christians are not doers of the words taught by Christ compared to the daily ministration and pure Religion of that early Church but they are also not doing what the Church in the wilderness was doing because they were both facilitating a national network of charity and freewill offerings and not the legal charity of Cain, Nimrod, Pharaoh and Caesar of force, fear, and fealty.
Eyes darkened
Jesus took the kingdom from the Jews who believed in false doctrines and Jewish fables so much so that they were not bearing the fruit as a peculiar people because they sat in darkness.[3] Jesus taught the people The Way of Godliness that would bear fruit of a nation and kingdom is one that operated through a network of faith, hope and charity.
- "For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them." Matthew 13:15
The Pharisees as a whole could not see it or hear the message of Christ which was the message of God through Moses. You cannot really love your neighbor as yourself as a nation of peculiar people without a network of dedicated ministers operating by charity to connect you as one body.
All the prophets
Abraham, Moses, the prophets, John the Baptist and Christ knew this. This is why they all set up living altars for the welfare of the people in the service to the tents of the congregations.
The religion of the ancients always involved the performance of a duty to our fellowman. This is how they created the social bonds that made them both strong and free. The legal charity of Cain, Nimrod, the king of Sodom and of course Pharaoh, Caesar, and Herod made the word of God to none effect. Those dainties and the civil tables which provided them were a snare and a trap. And it was the sophistry of the Pharisees that allowed this false religion to persist.

It should be absolutely clear that everyone was responsible for the widows and needy of society within the gates. That has always been the definition of Pure Religion.
http://www.preparingyou.com/wiki/Widow
Even though the words religion and charity never appear in the Old Testament it is overwhelmingly obvious that in order to love your neighbor as yourself like Moses said you would need to care for one another in a variety of ways.
Rules about gleaning were established but many would not be able to care for their needs with gleaning alone. People were often spread out and sometimes aid would be needed in large amounts in different parts of the land.
- Deuteronomy 14:29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which [are] within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
Within the gates was within the network of Israel which was a kingdom, the Kingdom of God. Jesus came to take the kingdom from those who were doing things wrong and appoint it to those who would do it right. Wrong was by force. Right was by charity and freewill offerings in love.
That is simple.
But like Saturninus and the trial of the Acts of the Scillitan Martyrs they do not want to hear.
Tithe of charity
Leviticus 27:30 says, “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord: it is holy to the Lord.” These gifts were a reminder that everything belonged to God and a portion was given back to God to thank him for what they had received. There was no top-down enforcement or collection. The power of Choice on how to share and with whom was their own.
The tithe was what freely flowed from the tens. It was given to the ministers of the nation who were called out by Moses to serve the tabernacle of the nation and the tabernacles or the tents of the congregation, to sustain a healthy viable nation.
Isolated congregations would have made them a scattered flock. To be a nation people had to create a national body supported by freewill offerings that could come to the aid of local areas on a national level by moving needed resources through that charitable network.
Nimrod had built a system of tens but appointed from the top down. Jethro knew of that system and was a priest of his own people. This pattern of small cell groups linked together is the most common form of government used throughout man's history, The chief difference is how it comes about and where the power of choice resides.
Is it centralized and collective or does it remain in the hearts of the individual?
This was all done to bind the people together by love and honor and hope rather than contracts. If people cannot see the simplicity and wisdom of that voluntary system they will produce unsound doctrines like the Pharisees and produce a scattered community which is incapable of sustaining itself in a crisis.
The support of the leaders of the Network like Aaron and the Levites was an essential element in the protection and care of society. That support was all voluntary and from the ground up for there was no king in Israel.
- 2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."
We can show in detail that God never intended people to pile up dead stones and burn up sheep. But common sense alone should tell you such bloody rituals and macabre practices could not bind people together nor inspire and promote Social Virtues.

But a network of living stones freely receiving the sacrifices of the people and rightly dividing that bread from house to house or tent to tent could produce those needed results.
Foolish tithing
The forcing of contributions was seen with King Saul and in the Corban of the Pharisees.
This is absolutely foolish and comes from unmooring the meaning from the allegory and metaphors of the testaments. Under such nonsense most of the wealthiest people of Israel and Judea would pay no tithe. There may have been some pharisees that thought so but that would be contrary to the word and precept of God.
- Ecclesiastes 11:1 "Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. 2 Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth."
Moses was addressing the idea that what you produced was an increase not just what you sold. Miss the allegory and metaphor and you will be tossed about by convenient doctrines. God does not want you to be casting your bread out on the lake in hope that it will come back to you.
While it is written some of these offerings of support were said to result from commands but the word for command varied for these offerings were called freewill offerings time and time again. Sometimes the word command[4] was just dabar[5]meaning word. Or the word mitsvah [6] which can mean a precept which in this case means the flow of righteousness divided from one to another.
Offerings and that which flowed from the congregations of the people was like Abraham's "tithes of all".
God's desire for man was to learn to love and share, give and forgive, bless one another in righteousness. People strain at gnats and swallow camels. Even when the Levites are told to take the tithe the word is actually just receive.

Offices of the Church
- "Bishops, presbyters(Elder) and deacons occupy in the church the same positions as those which were occupied by Aaron, his sons, and the Levites in the temple." Jerome, Ep. 146

- 1 Timothy 4:7 "But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness."
Tithing was a part of the Kingdom of God from Melchizedek to the charity of the early Church.

Even the Seven men chosen by the people who trusted them had a purpose in a Kingdom in Acts 6 and in Ecclesiastes 11.

Jesus did not preach isolated congregations or a plan where people forsook the gathering together. Charity is not just helping the needy you stumble upon or even just those you love and love you. Such ideas are void of Christ and grace. Without a broad network your love falls short.
- 2 Peter 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
