"Unchurched" as an adjective is defined as "not belonging to or connected with a church". When concerning religious participation, it refers specifically to people who do not attend worship services. A worship services or "church service" or sometimes  called a "service of worship"  is a formal group or communal gathering to perform a wide variety of what is often called "worship" in some ceremonial or ritualistic Christian tradition generally involving some form of clergy.

According to one christian polling group if someone does not attend a church for 6 months they can be counted as unchurched. That makes for  wide range of people who would be classified as unchurched. The reason for not attending Church can be very broad and unrelated.

There are people who claim to be "unchurched" who are seeking to deconstruct the modern "organized church" model which they find unsatisfactory while at the same time seeking ways of establishing genuine church community centered around a faith in Christ and His Way. Many of the people labeled as the unchurched have made a conscious decision to go about things a different way than the paths and practices offered by the Modern Churches of today.

These unchurched people have often attempted to adapt themselves into a paradigm presented by variety of modern church communities with neither satisfaction nor success. They are often seeking an intimate group environment through which they might grow and thrive. Their attempts to conform to the different Church practices often fail to satisfy them. But the question naturally arises as to the reason for this failure to conform or fit into these church paradigms.

There is also another question too often neglected by the modern Christian. Does the modern Church conform to the original intent of the early Church community?

Is the problem with the Church or is it with what is posing as the Church but is not?

At the time of the early Church there were those that said they were Jews but were not. But He was also the rightful high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. While the church included numerous forms of fellowship, it was not a social club and certainly not merely a community.

The Church legally defined is, "In its most general sense, the religious society founded and established by Jesus Christ, to receive, preserve, and propagate his doctrines and ordinances."

Since there are over forty thousand denominations calling themselves a church many question may arise:
* What are the specific doctrines of Jesus Christ before the private interpretation of men?
* How should that Church society order itself?
* What is the mission directed by Christ for the Church?
* Should the Church exercise authority one over the other?

A society is defined as "the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community often so that they are not destroyed by other societies or acts of nature."

There are people who claim to be "unchurched" who are seeking to deconstruct the modern "organized church" model which they find unsatisfactory while at the same time are seeking ways of establishing genuine church community centered around a faith in Christ and His Way. Many of the people labeled as the unchurched have made a conscious decision to go about things a different way than the paths and practices offered by the Modern Churches of today.
Also the Church legally defined is, "A body or community of Christians, united under one form of government by the profession of one faith, and the observance of the same rituals and ceremonies."

These unchurched people have often attempted to adapt themselves into a paradigm presented by variety of modern church communities with neither satisfaction or success. They are often seeking an intimate group environment into which they might grow and thrive. Their attempt to conform to the different Church practices often fail. But the question naturally arises as to the reason for this failure to conform or fit into these church paradigms.
A community is "a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common."  The community of the Church may not be as geographically in the same place as it is spiritually based in the character or name of Christ. Since the Kingdom of God is first within you, the community of the Church may have "a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals" of Christ. In relationship to the community of the early Church it included a daily ministration and Pure Religion through charity.

There is also another  question to often neglected by the modern Christian, Does the modern church conform to the original intent of the early Church community?
Does the society and community of the Church organize from the bottom up by the service of trustworthy leaders in a charitable network or from the top down through rulers who exercise authority by way of a social contract?

Is the problem with the unchurched or is it with the Modern Church?
Is The Way of the Church through charity or force?
What was the Church meant to be?
Before we can answer this question there are other questions and terms that could be addressed. See other questions and terms

The Church or ekklesia as we see in Greek was appointed by Christ who was not only the rightful king of Judea but also a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. While the church included numerous forms of fellowship it was not a social club and certainly not merely a community. Besides being at the center of a community and part of the Christian society it was also a unique form of government that operated by what James would call the perfect law of liberty.
Jesus was "another king" of a Society and Community that made it possible for the people to survive and thrive during the decline and fall of Rome.

It was a body of people that sought to follow The Way of Christ. We can only hope to conform to Christ by doing the will of the Father. This distribution of bread and provisions by the ministers of the Church trained and appointed by Christ was different from that free bread distributed by Rome. It was the product of faith, hope and charity through that perfect law of liberty of James and was not merely the distribution of a ritualized wafer of bread. It was a form of social welfare through the practice of Pure Religion which  consisted of the community of Christians engaged in the Eucharist of Christ. It was the result of the true love of one another in action that out preformed the government welfare of Rome and the Corban of Judea and was at the core of the Christian conflict.

Basic Institutional Church Doctrines
It should be absolutely clear that Jesus instituted a Church to serve those seeking the kingdom. Jesus put forward doctrines that were used and repeated by the early Church which eventually saved the Christian community all over the Roman Empire and beyond.

Today there are many people saying they are Christians but they are not doing what the early Christians felt compelled to do by their faith. With the rise of the welfare state and the covetous practices of modern Socialism many Christians have become accustomed to the receiving and living by the support offered by State sponsored benefit and welfare programs.

This pattern of social dependence is not unprecedented in History. Polybius saw the downfall of the republic 150 years before the first Emperor of Rome and 175 years before the birth of Jesus Christ and John the Baptist who preached the importance of charity in maintaining a free society.

<blockquote>"The masses continue with an appetite for benefits and the habit of receiving them by way of a rule of force and violence. The people, having grown accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others... institute the rule of violence; and now uniting their forces massacre, banish, and plunder, until they degenerate again into perfect savages and find once more a master and monarch." Polybius .</blockquote>
Free societies seldom continue without moral base which recognizes a right to private property and some form of what used to be called "Religion" which is how you take care of the needy of society. That care formed the bonds of society. Pure Religion accomplishes that care without the force and power of the State.

The job and service of the "daily ministration" of the "early Church" and the "church in the wilderness" has been abandoned by the "modern Church" and supplanted by the "legal charity" of what has been called "[[public religion]".

Even with the persecution through the Christian conflict with the Public religion of Rome Christians thrived. But the institution of a counterfeit Christianity by Constantine would eventually undermine the practice of true faith in Jesus and what he actually taught His Disciples. This Coercive Church would unite with the State abandoning Pure Religion. And sophistry, subversion and violence suppressed the true teachings and doctrines of Jesus until "many", as Christ warned, would think they were Christians but actually become workers of iniquity.

Jesus commanded that His Church not depend on the other government rulers who exercises authority one over the other to provide benefits for the people. Many modern Christians do not understand Jesus' prohibitions about these Fathers of the earth and the Benefactors who exercise authority one over the other because of a myriad of false doctrines being taught today by modern Church preachers. Constantine, if not Satan himself, is responsible for the beginning of this acceptance of State sponsored welfare for institutions  calling themselves the Church.

Any Church that strays from the doctrines of Jesus is not His Church.

Did those authors of the New Covenant Epistles warn us also?

What is the whole truth?
Christianity was never just a feeling nor a fancy. Christians had changed their thinking about the Corban of the Pharisees and Rome, and they were diligently seeking the Kingdom of God and the righteousness of God through mutual sacrifice and a daily ministration of charity.

Being "Unchurched"  because the Modern Church is falling short or even in apostasy is simply not enough. We must strive to be conformed to Christ and The Way of His appointed Church.

We were warned of false Christs and prophets<Ref>Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

* Patrick Henry said "Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it."

Christians had changed their thinking about the Corban of the Pharisees and Rome and were diligently seeking the Kingdom of God and the righteousness of God through mutual sacrifice and a daily ministration of charity. Being "Unchurched" is not enough to conform to Christ.

People would have to be in a hypnotic state to believe that Christ wanted them to pray at a modern Church building but if they actually need anything they should go to "men who exercise authority one over the other"?
Jesus was so clear[1] that His disciples were instructed to not be that way.
While the Testaments are also clear that you may legally apply for a multitude of benefits through a socialist state, but not without consequences. Dependence upon "legal charity" will make you "merchandise", "curse children" and bring again the captivity of Egypt. This is undoubtedly why both the Testaments tells us not to covet.
Those gifts, gratuities, and benefits are the wages of unrighteousness which destroy liberty and degenerate the people into perfect savages because they are the dainties and deceitful meats of rulers provided through the covetous practices of the world which "makes the word of God to none effect".
But the modern Christian does that every day to get free schooling for their children, and social security for their parents and a myriad of other public benefits imagining they are not "workers of iniquity".
How is that the daily ministration of the early Church, the table of the LORD which is not a snare? How is fhat seeking the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness? The Christian conflict with Rome was with the welfare system of the Imperial Cult of Rome and the public religion of the world and others like Herod and the Pharisees which was again "making the word of God to none effect".
We are to live by faith, hope, and charity which is love according to The Way of Christ and not the force, fear, and fealty which was the the ways of the world.
If Modern Christians, Jews, and Muslims would repent and seek to see the truth of their own history they could recover from the strong delusion of public religion. They think they understand the teachings in the Bible but have been doing the opposite of what doctrine of Jesus, Moses, and Abraham were telling their followers to do for over a century

Unchurched Movement

"Unchurched" as an adjective is defined as "not belonging to or connected with a church". When concerning religious participation, it refers specifically to people who do not attend worship services. A worship services or "church service" or sometimes called a "service of worship" is a formal group or communal gathering to perform a wide variety of what is often called "worship" in some ceremonial or ritualistic Christian tradition generally involving some form of clergy.

According to one christian polling group if someone does not attend a church for 6 months they can be counted as unchurched. That makes for wide range of people who would be classified as unchurched. The reasons for not attending Church can be very broad and unrelated.

At the time of the early Church there were those that said they were Jews but were not.[2] In fact they gathered in an adversarial spirit which we may be seeing today in some of the Modern Churches.

What was the Church meant to be?

Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist and Jesus and the early Church advocated a Daily ministration for the needy. Jesus called out His ekklesia. The Church as we say today was institutionalized by Christ, Institutionalized means "established in practice or custom." Jesus spent years training His disciples which means "students" to be the ministers of His kingdom at hand, His government of God, which He took from those who were not bearing fruit and appointed to His "little flock". The problem today is most Churches are descended from the institutional Church of Constantine which was "established in practice or custom" in a different way. Constantine funded his new Church with tax money which provided for the poor. The modern institutional Church does the same. While there are many people who "say they are Christians" and many who are charitable people most of the care of the needy among the Churched and unchurched alike is provided by the state who merely takes from your neighbor to provide those benefits. These "covetous practices and customs" are contrary to the teachings of the prophets and certainly Jesus, James, Paul the Apostle and Peter and the "new covenant".

The Church, or ekklesia, meaning called out in Greek, was appointed by Christ who was not only the rightful king of Judea which was the Kingdom of God if not its remnant at that time.[3] But He was also the rightful high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

A society is defined as "the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community often so that they are not destroyed by other societies or acts of nature."

Also the Church legally defined is, "A body or community of Christians, united under one form of government by the profession of one faith, and the observance of the same rituals and ceremonies."

Does the society and community of the Church organize from the bottom up by the service of trustworthy leaders in a charitable network or from the top down through rulers who exercise authority by way of a social contract?

Is The Way of the Church through charity or force?

Before we can answer this question there are other questions and terms that could be addressed. See other questions and terms

Jesus was "another king"[4] of a Society and Community that made it possible for the people to survive and thrive during the decline and fall of Rome.

Besides being at the center of a community and part of the Christian society, the Church, appointed by Jesus who was the Christ, Messiah and anointed King, was also a unique form of government that operated by what James would call the perfect law of liberty.

The early Church in its most general sense was a community of people that sought to follow The Way of Christ who was the king of the kingdom of God at hand and appointed to His ministers to serve the people rather than rule over them like the governments of the other nations. We can only hope to conform to Christ by doing the will of the Father.[5]

The unchurched have at least decided that there is something wrong with the Modern Church. The modern Church and the modern Christians who cling to it are often not doing things like the early Church according to the doctrines of Jesus nor the will of the Father who art in heaven. By simply being the unchurched, there is no reason to believe that they are actually going in or following The Way of Christ which was fundamentally different than the way of Rome.

It is not enough to turn from the wrong path but we need to also seek the path of righteousness of God. It is up to every soul to seek that kingdom and to strive to know what the righteousness of God actually looks like.

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God

Another important question might be, "What is worship?", or "What is religious worship?", or "What is "religion?", since the definitions of these words have changed over the years. Today "worship" has been defined as "reverent honor and homage paid to God", while "worship service" has been defined as "to show profound religious devotion and respect to; adore or venerate (God or any person or thing considered divine)".

But paying homage to God and Jesus is not just saying that you love him or praising him with your lips. If we examine the Bible we see Jesus saying in Luke 6:46, "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"[6] and in Exodus 20:5 we see, "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;".

This reference to bowing down is a form of or at least a part of the idea of worship in the sense of homage or adoration, but worship also includes actual serving.

This reference to actual service to God in the form of services performed by people strengthening others seems to be at the core of Christ's teachings and His purposes as we see in Luke 22:27 "For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth." and in John 12:26 "If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour."

In John 12:26 we see this reference to actual service beyond mere ritual or ceremony of the Modern Church. And again in Luke 12:37 "Blessed [are] those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them."

There was a church appointed by Christ that "continued daily with one accord in the temple, dividing bread from house to house so that the people were able to eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart".[7] This distribution of bread and provisions by the ministers of the Church, trained and appointed by Christ, was different from that free bread distributed by Rome. It was the product of faith, hope and charity through that perfect law of liberty of James, and it was not merely the distribution of a ritualized wafer of bread. It was a form of social welfare through the practice of Pure Religion which consisted of the community of Christians engaged in the Eucharist of Christ. It was the result of the true love of one another in action that out-performed the government welfare of Rome and the Corban of Judea, and it was at the core of the Christian conflict.

"The masses continue with an appetite for benefits and the habit of receiving them by way of a rule of force and violence. The people, having grown accustomed to feed at the expense of others and to depend for their livelihood on the property of others... institute the rule of violence; [8] and now uniting their forces massacre, banish, and plunder,[9] until they degenerate again into perfect savages and find once more a master and monarch." Polybius [10] .

And sophistry, subversion and violence suppressed the true teachings and doctrines of Jesus until "many", as Christ warned,[11] would think they were Christians but actually become workers of iniquity.

Peter, Paul, James, and John Warned

Peter[12], Paul[13], James[14] and John[15]all 'warned the New Covenant Church that what they were doing and not doing would reveal the truth of their claim to faith in God and His Holy Spirit. Paul warned people to test their faith[16] to make sure they were not deceived or reprobates[17].

Even John warns that we need to walk according to what Jesus showed us and confess our sins if we are to be cleansed of unrighteousness.[18] John even gives the keeping of the commandments as the rod by which we measure the truth of our faith.[19] And those who do not keep the commandments are a liar and Christ is not in them.[20] Over and over John repeats that he that "doeth not righteousness" is not born again of Christ and the Father.[21] And John warns us that we may not only be deceived but may deceive ourselves [22] warning us of the many false teachers who are "out in the world".[23]

Jude 1:16 "These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling [words], having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage."

We are told that we are told in Jude 1:21 "Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."

The Bible from the beginning warns[24] and continues those warnings throughout the New Testament that many will be decieved thinking they are believers while in truth they are workers of iniquity.[25] Because these warnings are ignored by the modern Church, the welfare of a foolish[26] society has become a snare.

  • “It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.”[27]

We were warned of false Christs and prophets[28] which would include false pastors and churches deceiving many[29] except by the grace of God.

  • Patrick Henry said "Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it."

Are some of the unchurched those who sense that deception and the hypocrisy and apostasy of the modern Church?

Are they willing to go deeper and see the whole truth and provide for it?

Many will imagine themselves saved in the Church and out but they are actually workers of iniquity. [30]

And we were told in Matthew 5:48, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

But to be perfected in Christ we must accept the whole gospel and be of one mind[31] which will require repentance.

God wishes to open our eyes so that we may see that whole truth of His Kingdom of God.[32]

We must continue to act with love concerning those things we see so that God may continue to remove the scales from our eyes[33] and give us the sight and insight to see the truth of the Christian conflict with the covetous practices of the Corban of the Imperial Cult of Rome.

We must cleanse ourselves of the covetous practices that have become acceptable in the Modern Church by walking in all The Ways of Christ and setting the table of His Daily ministration in Pure Religion.[34]

Ephesians 5:1 ¶ Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. 3 ¶ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." Galatians 5:1 Galatians 5:15 "But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another."

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.".
  14. James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
