Contradictions of Paul

Paul the Apostle was considered a brother by Peter who was going to speak to the people about things hard to understand. Today The Modern Christians' misunderstanding of Paul is fueled by the same spirit that caused the Pharisees to misunderstand Moses, Abraham and therefore Jesus the Christ himself.

Contradictions of Paul

There is a growing anti Paul movement among modern Christians. The problem is not so much that Paul is misunderstood but that Jesus is not understood by many who claim to profess a belief in Him and what He taught. Jesus said there would be many who thought they knew Him and even served Him, but they did not. This is also due to the fact that many do not understand Abraham and Moses, which the Pharisees and lawyers[1] of that day, despite all their study, did not understand, or else they would have known Christ.[2]

These misunderstandings and the refusal to see the truth about Jesus and Paul or even the Old Testament duties of the Levites and the early Church are due to numerous things and practices. Those practices were rejected by early Christian, which brought them into conflict with Rome. But modern Christians have accepted a lie as true, which has brought the people under a strong delusion.

People are correct to say that the doctrines of the Church should be doctrines of Jesus only, but Paul “preached Christ first”.

If we look at the assumed or imagined claims of the contradictions of Paul, in almost every point the individual is misunderstanding the meaning of Paul or the teachings of Christ or both. They do not understand that Jesus preached "one form of government" that does not exercise authority one over the other like the governments of the other nations but requires that the people exercise charitable practices in faith and hope instead of the covetous practices we see among most people of the world.

Peter said that Paul was going to talk about "some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." The word for destruction is from the word apollumi meaning “to destroy, to put out of the way entirely,”

Most modern Christians have gone out of The Way of Christ. They have been " led away with the error of the wicked"[3]

They think they know Christ, but John says "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." 1 John 2:3-4

You cannot get much clearer than that.

Peter had just warned the people that through the sin of covetousness you would be made merchandise, human resources. [4] And through those covetous practices, the people would curse their own children[5] with debt and bondage.

The modern Christians do this daily by the administration of the governments they have chosen for themselves instead of a daily ministration through the Government of God, appointed by Christ, His Church. The modern Christians do not understand the gospel of the kingdom, Jesus the Christ or what the early Church was doing to be considered "doers of the word", so certainly they find it difficult to understand Paul.

Paul's writings lend themselves to misunderstanding the gospel, especially in the hands of those who already missed the points Jesus was making and teaching.

This is why many fall prey to the twisting of Paul's words by errant pastors and theologians.

False Claims

Some falsely claim that there are at least 25 places Paul Contradicts Jesus[6]:

  1. False claim, "Jesus Says Not To Eat Meat Sacrificed to Idols, But Paul Says It Is Ok"
What does Paul say about idols and idolaters?[7] He makes it clear that the covetous practices idolatry which is applying to the gods of the world is wrong, but in one place he is talking about what is sold in the meat market that may or may not have come from the sacrifice to idols. That is not being an idolater or engaged in idolatry.[8]
Paul does not say it is okay to apply for Meat Sacrificed to Idols and explains why.[9]
Does the modern Christians eat meat, take the benefits, sacrificed to the idols of the world. Most do because they pray to the Fathers of the earth and the gods of governments of the world who call themselves Benefactors who exercise authority for their benefits provided through a system of Corban like that of the Pharisees.[10]
  2. False claim[6], Jesus Says The Law Continues, But Paul Says No
Paul did not contradict but confirmed the words of Jesus. The Pharisees were strict in the subjection to the law as they saw it, but they did not see it rightly. They thought they knew Moses, but did not, so they did not know Christ. The law had been reduced to the rituals and ceremonies and interpretations of the Pharisees and other Jews, but it was not the law of righteousness because the law is spiritual, which Jesus was saying when he said all the law hinged on two commandments. Again, the Pharisees practiced a form of Corban that was making the word of God to none effect. Modern Christians do the same.
  3. False claim[6], Paul Says The Pharisees Followed The Law Rigorously, But Jesus Says They Were Lax About The Law
Paul Says The Pharisees Followed their version of the Law Rigorously. But again Paul is arguing against those who unmoor the spiritual meaning of the law and reduce laws concerning things like, as an example, the Sabbath, reducing it to a day rather than a way, or altars as the ancient system of freewill offerings and Corban being reduced to a system of modern social welfare or legal charity through taxation rather than charitable tithes. The Modern Church and Christians, like the author of these false claims -- who do not know Christ -- agree to have things reduced and unmoored in this manner.
Paul served an international network of true Christians which provide all the social welfare, emergency relief and aid through the practice of Pure Religion for the Christian communities all over the world. He needed to do that because Christians would not apply to the governments of the world for the benefits from the men who called themselves benefactors but exercised authority one over the other because Jesus said it was not to be that way with us. He was able to do that because the people organized themselves in ranks of tens as Christ commanded.
  4. False claim[6], Jesus Says Salvation Initiates And Continues By Repentance From Sin and Obedience Besides Faith; Paul Says This is Heresy
Jesus does say Salvation is By Repentance From Sin and Obedience but he does not say this is "Besides Faith". Real Faith compels the actions of obedience. Paul does say that cannot follow the 'form' of the law in the sense of the ordinances of the pharisees and earn salvation. Again he is talking to the Romans the ritual forms being imposed upon them by Jews. Paul is absolutely clear about his opposition to those who unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death[11] relling us with another long list to turn away from these sinners who violate the real law of God[12] because those sinners have no inheritance in the kingdom because they do not keep the Law of God even though they follow the strict religious rituals and rules of the Pharisees. [13]
Blotting out the hand written ordinances of the Pharisees and Rome that bound the people who had signed up for their benefits and been snared by their appetite, is not doing away with the Ten Commandments.[14]
  5. False claim[6], Jesus Tells Apostles To Teach His Commands Given Prior to His Ascension While In The Flesh, But Paul Says Not To Do So
Paul preached Christ first. The Churches he was writing were already following Christ's teachings. For the most part they were no longer praying to the Fathers of the earth like the Patronus of Rome or the Conscripted fathers and those Benefactors who were exercising authority one over the other for their benefits. The early Church were now helping to provide those welfare benefits of society through faith, hope and charity and the perfect law of liberty.
Again Paul goes into great detail about those who will Not inherit the kingdom because of what they do and do not do in clear violations of the commandments of Jesus. Just because some say that "Paul's statement in 2 Corinthians 5:16 is interpreted to justify rejecting the idea of teaching the commandments by Jesus before the crucifixion" that does not mean that Paul was saying that at all. Paul is not responsible for false interpretations by others.
Reading Paul in context of what he is writing and to whom he is writing is important. When he says "we" he is talking to Christians who saw "the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God" and "renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth..."[15] The truth is that Christians would not pray to the gods of the world nor apply for their benefits and social welfare. In that time the people were blinded by the rulers who offered them welfare through their Temples. The difference between caring for the needy of society by taxation or by charity was at the heart of the Christian conflict with Rome.[16]
Paul spoke of their persecution but encouraged their willingness to bear the burden working in them.[17]
  6. False claim[6], Paul Says Elders Are Entitled To Pay for 'Preaching & Teaching,' But Jesus Says No"
This is not what Paul says, and in fact Paul, and Barnabas who was a levite, was more in compliance with Jesus than most modern Christians concerning the ministers of Christ. You need to learn about who the elders were and what Jesus meant by disciples and getting rid of your personal estates and why.
People like to quote Matthew 10[18] suggesting that ministers should not be paid or eat of the offerings like Paul says. But this was a one-time thing, to learn to walk in faith. Later Jesus says take your purse[19] and even a sword.
Jesus' ministry was even supported by offerings from poor and wealthy alike.[20]
The practice of Pure Religion requires ministers providing for the needy Christians in a system of Corban supported by charity rather than men who exercises authority that would make the word of God to effect like the Corban of the Pharisees. see treasury
  7. False claim, "Jesus Teaches There Are Only 12 Apostles Into Eternity, But Paul Adds Himself To The List As a Thirteenth." There were twelve original apostles, which means the "sent ones". Barnabas was also called an apostle in Acts 14:14. Jesus sent the apostles and they sent others. Paul claimed to be also sent by Christ, and Peter calls him "our beloved brother" in 2 Peter 3:15.
  8. False claim[6], "Paul Exhorts Celibacy, But Jesus Clearly Says It is A Choice Not Within Everyone's Power."
If this was true, then why does Paul talk about ministers and bishops being a "husband of one wife."1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:6. In one of the few references to being unmarried, he specifically says that the idea of remaining single is "not of commandment". 1 Corinthians 7:6. He is even critical of those "Forbidding to marry" in 1 Timothy 4:3. There is no reason to believe that Celibacy played any role in the early Church.
    To be continued
  9. False claim, "Jesus Says There Is One Pastor and Teacher (Himself), But Paul Says There Are Many Pastors and Teachers"
John 10:16 "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, [and] one shepherd."
Jesus is just continuing with the idea of God writing upon your hearts and mind by revelation through His Holy Spirit rather than flesh and blood teaching you.
Paul is constantly talking about everything coming as spiritual gifts saying even the law is spiritual. He does say in Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" but goes on to say in Ephesians 4:12-16 "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."
  10. False claim[6], "Paul Says God Is The God of the Dead, But Jesus Says God Is Not The God of the Dead"
Romans 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Luke 20:38 For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.
  11. False claim[6], "Says God Does Not Live in Temples Made of Human Hands, But Jesus Says He Does"Paul
Paul says "God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands." (Acts 17:24)(Greek cheiropoietois - hand-made).However, Jesus said, in a correction of Pharisees who thought an oath offered "by" articles offered at the Temple were binding but not an oath by the Temple at Jerusalem itself: "And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it." (Matt. 23:21.) Jesus elsewhere referred to the Temple at Jerusalem as a "Temple made with hands." (Mark 14:58)(Greek cheiropoieton, 'made with hands.')Hence, Jesus clearly said God dwells at the Temple made of human hands. Paul quite clearly says the opposite as a principle true at all times. The importance of this is that Jesus affirms God does live in a temple made of human hands, but Paul says this is untrue." <-- Paul Says God Does Not Live in Temples -->
  12. False claim[6], "Jesus says Nations Of The World Are Under Satan, But Paul Says Their Rulers Are Agents of God"
Compare Lk 4:5-8 (Satan offers his authority to Jesus to rule the kingdoms of the world), Jn 18:36 ("my kingdom is not of this world") 19:18 ("they crucified him"), Ac 4:26 ("rulers of the world rise up against the Annointed One") (Ps 2:2) versus Paul in Rom 13:1-5.The celestial kingdom is described in the Gospels as of another order from the entire realm of the nations, which are ruled by Satan and whereby Christ was crucified. (See our webpage discussion.)On the other hand, the secular authorities with all their weaponry (including Mk 15:16 ff) are stated by Paul to be God's own agents. (Romans 13:1-5.) (Source: Metalog) [Added 9/25/2010]Paul also contradicts Hosea 8:4 (700s BC): "They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval." (NIV) Paul also contradicts Peter and John who when the first time they were told not to preach, they responded in Acts 4:19: “But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!” The same happened again in Acts 5:29, and they responded similarly for "Peter and the other apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than human beings!'”Paul also contradicts the sound example of Daniel who refused to stop worshipping Yahweh when a king's decree ordered him to do so: “Then they answered and spoke before the king, ‘Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the injunction which you signed, but keeps making his petition three times a day.” (Daniel 6:13.)Also, Moses' life as a child depended upon such disobedience. In Exodus 1:17, we similarly read: “But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt had commanded them, but let the boys live.”Cf. Thomas Aquinas recognized a Christian had no duty to obey unjust laws, implicitly recognizing the world's rulers are not God's agents. (Summa Theolgia (Copleston) Question 96, Art. 6; see Feldman at 307 fn. 125.)
  13. False claim, "Jesus Teaches Rapture is Of Evil Ones First, But Paul Teaches The Opposite"
There is a false claim that Jesus and Paul are 180 degrees opposite. There s a great controversy over whether Paul is actually preaching a pre-tribulation rapture or even what the rapture, a modern term, even means. We have already seen how scripture can be take out of contexts and then add connections never intended. This issue will be revisited but the rapture theory has been a great distraction from the basic command to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
  14. False claim[6], "Jesus Says A Call Is Revocable, But Paul Says It Is Irrevocable"
"'The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable' (Rom 11:29). The birthright of Esau was revoked, as was the calling of the House of Eli. If 'many are called, but few are chosen' (Matt 22:14), then the calling is revocable." (Femi Aribisala, Nigerian Christian, "A-Paul-ing Epistles.")
  15. False claim[6], "Jesus Says Some Are Righteous, But Paul Says It Is Impossible"
    see discussion
  16. False claim[6], "Paul Excludes Eating With Sinners, But Christ's Example We Are To Follow, and the Lost Sheep Parable Is Contrary"
    see discussion
  17. False claim[6], "Paul Teaches We Are Eternally Secure, But Jesus Teaches Insecurity to a Sinning Believer"
The question is are you a real believer?
Jesus is clear that many will think they are believers but are actually workers of iniquity. James and Jesus make it clear that just saying that you believe is not enough. Your works are a part of that confession of faith. If you are works are not in accord with Christ then your faith is dead, not real faith.
    see discussion
  18. False claim[6], "Paul Teaches an Original Sin, But Jesus Contradicts"
"Paul has managed to contradict Jesus in almost every single area of faith and practice. Jesus says that there is no original sin (Mark 10:13-14) while Paul says there is (Rom. 5:12-14). ("Can Paul Be Trusted")"
  19. False claim[6], "Jesus' Command About Calling Anyone Fool Is Violated by Paul"
  20. False claim[6], "Paul Denies Obedience Grants Any Righteousness Unto Life, But Jesus Says It Does"
  21. False claim[6], "Jesus Sends The Apostles to Baptize, But Paul Says Jesus Did Not Send Him to Baptize"
  22. False claim[6], "Jesus Says the Merciful Receive Mercy, But Paul Says Only Those God Chooses Arbitrarily Will Receive Mercy" from
  23. False claim[6], Paul Says Salvation Does Not Depend Upon Exertion, But Jesus Says It Does
  24. False claim[6], "Paul Says He Could Be Justified of The Sin that Never Could be Justified under the Law given Moses (Blasphemy), but Jesus says to the contrary that it is The Unpardonable Sin."
  25. False claim[6], "Paul Says Flesh will not inherit the Kingdom of God, but Jesus in Flesh ascended to heaven, and promises to resurrect our bodies to heaven / New Jerusalem, giving us the same physical resurrection that Jesus had."

Extra Material: Paul's Contradictions of Yahweh in Original Testament False claim[6], "Paul's View of Justification versus Jesus' View of Justification"

  1. When Jesus uses the term “justified,” Jesus links it to repentance from sin. The publican who repents from sin in deep regret goes home “justified.” The Pharisee who does not do so and thinks he has nothing ever to regret, goes home unjustified. (Luke 18:14.) What does Paul teach instead? Paul says you are “justified by faith apart from the works of the Law.” (Rom. 4:2.) "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Romans 4:5, KJV.) Once that happens, we have “peace with God.” (Rom. 5:1.) Once ‘justified’ in that manner, “we shall be saved from the wrath [of God] through him.” (Rom. 5:9.) Paul teaches a manner never to have regret again -- by the mere step of believing -- and you are justified while yet ungodly, i.e., unrepentant from sin. At least, this is how the young Luther and most construe Paul's meaning in Romans 4:5.
