Comments
The Israelite people were always referred to as the children of God which made them all sons and daughters of God. The kingdom was taken from some Jews[1] and appointed to other Jews[2] who became known as Christians in Antioch as more gentiles were grafted in.
The question of who is your Father is critical to understanding the gospel.
Verse 6 repeats again warning we saw in 1 John 2 that "whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him." which is said in several ways again until verse 10.
Verse 11 is telling us that the new covenant does not usurp the teachings of God from the beginning.
Cain and his city state was not The Way of God. The world made by men by its nature will hate you. And God will hate the deeds of the world of the Nicolaitan.
It it is not enough to "do no harm" but we must actively love our brother.
"Whosoever hateth his brother... hath eternal life abiding in him."
Verses 16-19 tells all Christians their duty is to serve one another, even laying down your life. Without the "deeds" we are not of the truth and therefore not of Jesus who was the truth.
All the way to verse 24 he again repeats that only those who "keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him."

Anomia

Matthew uses a Greek term which can mean iniquity or unrighteousness.[4] The term "anomia"[3] is commonly used by Paul[5] to express both the idea of iniquity or unrighteousness. And it also appears in Hebrews which traditionally is also attributed to Paul the Apostle.[6]

One of the most unique appearances of anomia[3] is in 1 John 3:4 where it is suggested that it appears three times:

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth <458> also the law <458>: for sin is the transgression of the law <458>.[3]
