Psalms 34
| outline |
| Testimony of Deliverance (vv. 1–7)
David vows to bless the Lord continuously, urging others to magnify God’s name by exalting the will of God in humility to it. That seeking the Lord results in deliverance from all fears which comes when we lack faith. The protection of his angel comes who respect Him by striving to do the will of God. |
| Invitation to Experience God (vv. 8–10)
To "taste and see" that the Lord is good is a matter of a direct line with him. Their exclusive refuge in Him lack no good thing as separated saints. The hunger of young lions is because the have not learned to hunt the way of the Lord but with the abundant provision of those who seek the Lord they may grow. |
| Instruction in Holy Living (vv. 11–14)
David teaches the "fear of the Lord" by advising disciples to guard their tongues, turn away from evil, and pursue peace. This practical holiness is presented as the evidence of reverence for God and the path to a good life. |
| Assurance of God’s Presence and Justice (vv. 15–22)
The Lord watches over the righteous and draws near to the brokenhearted, delivering them from all troubles despite their afflictions. The psalm concludes with the promise that the Lord redeems His servants and protects their bones, while evil slays the wicked. |
