Divine fire

"Divine fire" refers to fire that originates from the Nature of God's presence, plenipotentiary power, Holy Spirit, infinite judgment, original purification, or conformed approval. It is, from man's point of view, supernatural element of God's character—often described as a "consuming fire"[1]

The creative power and refining work of the uniquely Holy Spirit of God a provider of guidance through the light of revelation or wrath or consequences of sin and rebellion.

Fire in the Bible it may be realized on multiple layers either that fire is appearing or labeled as Divine fire or Strange fire:

Fire itself is seen in the text associated with the goodness of God and the wrath of His Judgement.

There was the Burning Bush of Exodus 3:2 and speaks to Moses but does not consume; There is the Pillar of Fire of Exodus 13:21-22; (also Exodus 14:24) that guided and protected them in the wilderness and at Mount Sinai in Exodus 19:18; and Exodus 24:17) the Lord gifted the Law.

  1. There is the rain of fire and brimstone upon . Genesis 19:24.
  2. Fire from the Lord burns the outskirts of the camp because some grumble. Numbers 11:1.
  3. There are 250 men consumed because of their involvement with incense. Numbers 16:35
  4. Nadab[2] and Abihu[3], the sons of Aaron offer strange fire in Leviticus 10:1-2.
  5. And of course Elijah calls down fire from heaven to consume captains and their men. 2 Kings 1:10-12

Covenant and Visions: Genesis 15:17.

From His presence

This happens right after Aaron and his sons complete the first offerings in the newly dedicated tabernacle. God sends fire directly from His presence (often linked to the glory cloud in the Most Holy Place) to consume the sacrifice. It shows divine approval and acceptance of the worship. The people respond with awe and worship.

Several other passages describe similar events with fire from God signaling His presence, judgment, or approval:

  • Leviticus 10:2 — “Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them [Nadab and Abihu], and they died before the LORD.” (This follows unauthorized “strange fire.”)
  • Numbers 16:35 — “And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the incense.” (During Korah’s rebellion.)
  • 1 Kings 18:38 — “Then the fire of the LORD fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.” (Elijah’s contest with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel.)
  • 2 Chronicles 7:1 — “When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.” (Dedication of the temple.)
  • Exodus 19:18 and 24:17 — God descends on Mount Sinai “in fire,” with the glory looking like a “consuming fire” to the Israelites.

Fire in the Bible often symbolizes God’s holy presence, purification, judgment, or approval (see also Hebrews 12:29 — “our ‘God is a consuming fire’”). The Leviticus 9:24 instance is especially direct because it explicitly says the fire comes “from the presence of the LORD.”

Other context (e.g., judgment, worship, or the Holy Spirit like the tongues of fire in Acts 2:3).

Is Strange fire and Divine fire different?

What killed Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5? It says it was the Holy Spirit but was it the same Strange fire spoken of in old?

And then there is Jesus who baptizes with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:
Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto [them] all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

So, is the fire representative of the Holy Spirit that can both bless and curse, heal or strike dead, or cast into a pit? So, is this Divine fire the same as Strange fire and our hearts make the difference?

This would make the smoke the product of the fire and agrees with the words of James 2:18 "Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works."

We may see the "smoke" or the "works" but God sees the heart Ecclesiastes 9:1 "For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, [are] in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred [by] all [that is] before them."

Just as the eighth day of Leviticus 9 the effects of the righteousness of Moses came to pass in Genesis 15:17 the prophetic vision of Abraham tells us "And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces."

The covenant promised the land to the seed of Abraham (the faithful) from Egypt(which is bondage) to a river which is Euphrates (which means fruitfulness).[6] But those who choose the way of Nimrod and the bondage Egypt and curse the Children of God may go the way of Nadab and Abihu, Korah, Sodom, and the whore.

The whore of prophecy and the whoredom of nations has to do with the means and methods of the provision for the people.

Those provisions of the Nimrods of the world have to do with the tables of rulers which are a snare because of their delecacies. Is it either by the fervent Charity of the Corban of Moses and the Corban of Christ or the legal charity of the Corban of the world. It is by love or force and covetous practices of the masses?
