Template:Babylon
A question that arose with Cain's first city State, with Nimrod's Babylon, with Pharoah's treasure cities and even with Caesar's Rome. What is Babylon?
- "Are men the property of the state? Or are they free souls under God? This same battle continues throughout the world?" Cecil B. DeMille in "The Ten Commandments."
If man is the property of the State this would bring us to an even more important question.
What is Redemption?
- "Redemption is deliverance from the power of an alien dominion and the enjoyment of the resulting freedom. It involves the idea of restoration to one who possesses a more fundamental right or interest. The best example of redemption in the Old Testament was the deliverance of the children of Israel from bondage, from the dominion of the alien power in Egypt." Zondervan's Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible, the word "redemption"
The ways of Babylon were and are to take your rest and then owe thy work, your labor... this is opposed to the Sabbath which is to do the work, do the will of the household and rest therein.
- "The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute." Proverbs 12:24
We see this in Re 18:4 "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, ..." This is not just being called out of sin but being called out of the sin of Babylon.
Babylon is an assembly too.
God calls men out to believe and do according to His way as we see in Ex 18:20:
- "And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do."
This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Ac 18:25
Ideally, God instructs the people for no man should have to teach his brother for all shall know the Father.
