Seir

Genesis 33:14 "Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir."

Seir, the metaphor and meaning

This is not the שֵׂעִ֖יר śê‘îr seen in Genesis 32:3 "...unto the land of Seir(שֵׂעִ֖יר ShinAyinYodReish), the country of Edom.(אֱדֽוֹם׃ ’ĕḏōwm AlefDaletVavMem)"
But what we see in the text שֵׂעִֽירָה׃ śê-‘î-rāh; ShinAyinYodReishHey.

Do these letters mean a mountain, a she goat, or shaggy creature, or, or what?

Saar to think

Since, the word seir or saar is from the base word Saar שָׂעַר‎ ShinAyinReish which has the meaning of think "to split open, reason out" and is found in some of the prophetic instructions of the kingdom:

Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee."

Hair on the Head

We also see the same letters form the word שָׂעַר‎ sa‘ar meaning hair of head;

  • or with other numbers said to just mean hair,

Storm and terror

  • or when numbered 08178 שָׂעַר‎ the same letters mean a storm, terror;

The door and the gate

  • or numbered 08179 the letters שָׂעַר‎ become a gate, door, city, porters;
  • “‭1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;” Genesis 19:1

Hundredfold

  • or given the number 08180 these same letters שָׂעַר‎ are said to mean a hundredfold,

Vile and horrid

Destinations and direction

Gates of Liberty or Bondage are passed through by our power of choice but often a lack of knowledge leads to the error of Balaam, which is the error of the Nicolaitan.

It may be reasonable to examine the underlying meaning of Seir as a destination which was also figuratively a gate. Lot had sat in a gate, but the gate Jacob would seek did not lead to bondage in Egypt, Sodom, nor back to Babylon where the people become human resources and become confused nor sit in darkness.

Jesus was said to be a door and he cast out the porters of the temple who were the Moneychangers of the tabernacle which was a place of sacrifice. Now there will be sacrifice on the Altars of Jacob where an entrance may be maintained.

What does the meaning of Seir have in common with the grayheaded, a shaggy goat, a terrible storm, a hundredfold, a gate of passage and the way you think and reason?

The Answer: Everything!

Seir is your journey, the cost of your choices, the hard knocks, the cold wind and darkness of the night, "and thus the whirligig of time brings in his revenges"[1] and may bring with it the wisdom. “‭29 The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.” Proverbs 20:29
