Like the servants of Abimelech while doing contrary to Melchizedek[1] and who filled in the wells of Abraham by providing for the people with a civil corban were the sons of Jacob dipping from to wells like Korah and Dathan with Moses?
Dathan in Numbers 16, was one of the leaders who rebelled against Moses and Aaron alongside Korah and Abiram. He and his followers challenged the authority of Moses and Aaron, claiming that all the Israelites were holy and that Moses had elevated himself above the congregation. This act of rebellion was seen as a direct challenge to God's appointed leadership. As a result, Dathan, along with Korah and Abiram and their families, was swallowed by the earth as divine punishment for their insurrection.
Dathan's wrongdoing was thus rooted in pride, rebellion against divinely ordained system set up by Moses and his altars, and inciting unrest among the people.
