Dominion

The word dominion is said to mean "Control or the exercise of control; sovereignty." and may include "A territory or sphere of influence or control; a realm." and also may be like, "A self-governing nation under the nominal rule" like "the British monarch"[1] or the kingdom of God.

Dominionism is "The theory or doctrine that Christians have a divine mandate to assume positions of power and influence over all aspects of society and government." and it may also be "The belief that God gave humans the right to exercise control over the natural world."[1] Dominion over the "natural world" is different than "power and influence over all aspects of society and government." Still there is "A tendency among some conservative Christians, especially in the USA, to seek influence or control over secular civil government through political action."[1]

Christian Dominionism is a political approach by some where what they call Christian faith is based on a literal interpretation of Genesis Chapter 1 verses 26 – 28 of the Christian Bible. [2]

Believers perceive themselves as the “chosen” or the “elect”, commanded by God to “subdue” the earth and “have dominion” over all living "creatures". But that biblical dominion did not include exercising authority over your fellowman.

Most of the articles talk about Christians as wanting to have dominion and are clearly designed to bash "Christians" as a threat to real freedom because they think that Christians are chosen to rule the world. Real Christians are not to be even "of the world" but that world was "an apt and harmonious arrangement or constitution, order, government".

Many religions in one form or another have this same thought from Jews to Muslims. Yes, some calling themselves Christians have thought that too. But if a Christian is a follower of Christ then we would want to ask Christ and not just someone who claims to be a Christian.

Some think that the goal of Christian Dominionism in the United States is to abolish Separation of Church and State, establishing it as a distinctively Christian Nation based upon Old Testament Mosaic Law.

Most Christians do not believe in Old Testament Mosaic Law but Jesus did because he understood it as it was meant to be before the twisting interpretations of the Pharisees. Modern Christians do not understand the Old Testament Mosaic Law nor do they understand the "Kingdom of God".

Dominionism is a broad term that contains many divergent groups "claiming a foundation in Christianity”.

All Christians are NOT Dominionists in the same way or meaning because according to Christ who came to set men free from the rule of man over man.

It is a growing movement supported by political Christians who teach that America is a nation built on a singular religion, Christianity – and all citizens are to be subject to laws and rules that are in accordance with their Dominionist version of reality. But Pure Religion is not the same as Public religion any more than fervent charity is not the same as Legal charity or the seeking the righteousness of God is not the same as the covetous practices of the world.

Political Dominionism can be an extreme version of false Christianity which has co-opted conservative politics in America which are in need of repentance.
