Jurisdiction

Jurisdiction as a modern word from Latin word juris meaning law and dictio meaning speech or 'declaration'. It can be used as a legal term for the legal authority granted to a legal entity to enact justice within a legal system.

The concept of jurisdiction applies at multiple levels like local, state, and federal governments.

Other Latin words like Lex, legis an also be translated law and is actually the word from which the word legal is derived. The word Lex, legis actually means to bind.

When that "legal authority granted" by people by their consent becomes a binding relationship we may say that jurisdiction is established.

In other words jurisdiction is often created by the process of granting by application or participation, oath or affirmation.

The Bible is a book about jurisdiction. The name of the Torah means law.

Abraham's family left the jurisdiction of Ur. Abraham left the Jurisdiction of Haran and the family of his nativity with "many souls". The brothers of Joseph sold him into bondage. In the Bondage of Egypt Israel was under the Jurisdiction of the Pharaoh. Moses through God removed the people who followed him from the jurisdiction of Egypt's corvee system.

Choosing King Saul in 1 Samuel 8 was also changing jurisdiction again. King Solomon began to lead the people back into another corvee system which Deuteronomy 17 forbids.

Of course Rehoboam would not release the people from their jurisdictional bondage. Even when Israel went back into civil bondage as a subject nations and human resources of another government in what was called captivity.

Even though they came out of bondage the people would again to return to that jurisdictional subjection under Herod through what he offered for the welfare of the people which was a snare as David and Paul explains. This was done through the Corban system promoted by the king and the Pharisees.

John the Baptist talked about another way through charity which was at the core of Jesus's kingdom of God and His righteousness. The Way of Christ led people out of the captivity and returned everyman to his family and to his possessions.

Even when Jesus told Pontius Pilate that his Kingdom was not of the world of Pilate that was clearly a jurisdictional statement.

Even Pure Religion was pure because it was not spotted by the jurisdiction of the world which was dependent upon the covetous practices that makes people merchandise and curses "children" just like the Corban.

From the beginning dominion is about jurisdiction.
