Creating graven images begins with an idea and is often a symbol represent institutions. While Religion was the way people took care needy of society it often became an ideology which became the foundation of institution created by men.
The golden calf was part of systems Proverbs describes as one purse created by consent nut hastened to shed blood.
Before such systems become a "snare and a net they capture the thinking of people as an ideology.
What we think we understand in our mind is limited by what we are willing to see in our hearts.
The flaming sword in the garden was meant to guide Adam & Eve back to the tree of life in the Garden of "paradise"?
The light drives those who will do not love the truth away so that the prefer the darkness.
How much truth are you willing to see? Listen to the Leaven of blood http://www.hisholychurch.net/audio/20220306leavenofblood.mp3

Ideology is "a system of ideas and ideals, especially one that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy."

A "system of ideas" is often constructed in our own minds with influences of others and bound together with our own ego.

Our personal dedication to an ideology may be a form of allegiance which keeps us from seeing anything that is contradictory to that which we have come to believe.

In the realm of such ideas facts may no longer matter. The person may become "ideologically driven".

What we are willing to see is determined by our personal levels of pride or humility or lack of the same.

Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge. God gave mankind the tree of knowledge because is knowledge is a valuable tool. But God also gave us the tree of life of which we may eat.

To create an ideology from the Empirical knowledge accumulated through our personal observation and reason can be done but it is an arrogant act of pride to imagine that we, as finite creations, can do so without bias prejudice.

What is often born of our personal prejudice is called our Ideology or our acceptable "science of ideas", meaning the study of our own ideas which we are willing to accept as true.

People may so completely taken by or with their ideology that they have constructed, at least in their own minds, that they are righteous. The will defend that ideology religiously though it may contradict the Logos of Christ.

Any one who presents a contrary view whether it is true or not becomes the enemy. Even the truth itself becomes the enemy and they prefer denial of fact rather than question their ideology.

That constructed ideology becomes an idol and even a point of almost religious worship or form of idolatry.

This advocated ideology may become a substitute for pure Religion and the Corban of Christ. Like the Pharisees they may assure themselves that they are righteous by their ideology while failing to attend to the weightier matters.

They may imagine that their ideology makes them righteous while condemning the world.

But Christ came that the whole world might be saved. He praised sinners and centurions, publicans and tax collectors, [[Pharisees who served in the Sanhedrin and Samaritans.

God does not judge as men do. His judgement is of the Spirit.
