Pathocrat
Pathocrat
A pathocrat is a person who rules or holds authority within a pathocracy—a system of government where a small, dysfunctional minority of individuals with severe personality disorders (such as psychopathy, narcissism, or antisocial personality disorder) seize power and control the society.
A pathocrat is fundamentally defined by the absence of a normal human conscience.[1] They are suffering from a personality disorders that is specifically considered to be a diagnosable psychopathy or malignant narcissism. They lack both the biological and psychological and mental capacity required to experience these empathetic emotions.
Originates
The term originates from the field of political ponerology, which is the study of how evil and macro-social injustice develop within governments and political systems. It was coined by Polish psychologist Andrew Lobaczewski in his foundational book, Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes.
Characteristics of a Pathocrat
Lack of Empathy
- They are completely indifferent to human suffering and view ordinary citizens merely as tools or resources to be exploited.
Deceptive Charisma
- They often use sophisticated manipulation, false promises, and ideological slogans to mask their true intentions and gain the public's trust.
Ruthless Ambition
- Their primary motivations are the total accumulation of power, control, and personal or material gain, entirely detached from moral or ethical boundaries.
Pathocrat Summary
In a pathocracy, an individual Pathocrat and their support team systematically reshape the government, its institutions, and the laws to reflect their own distorted worldview, their own imagined version of reality or truth.
They replace qualified, moral experts with other pathocrats or any easily manipulated person. They are always creating a top-down system where cruelty, corruption, and psychological manipulation become the cultural norm and legal M.O.[2].
