Bered
Bered
The Hebrew term Bered (בֶּרֶד) can be the proper name of a location or the son of Ephraim.
- Genesis 16:14 Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi; behold, [it is] between Kadesh and Bered <01260>.
- 1 Chronicles 7:20 And the sons of Ephraim; Shuthelah, and Bered <01260> his son, and Tahath his son, and Eladah his son, and Tahath his son,
It is the same Hebrew letters as we see in Bered בֶּרֶד as a proper name of a location or one of the sons of Ephraim.
Yet, we also see in barad said to mean of God’s judgment 01259.
- Psalms 18:13 "The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail [stones] and coals of fire."
And then their is the word given the number 01258 and said to mean Hail which is composed of the same Hebrew letters BeitReishDalet בָּרָד which are from an unused root meaning to be cold' which has the meaning of without heat.
- ב Beit Purpose: God's Dwelling Place Below - a house or God's house here. [household, in, into] (Numeric value: 2)
- ר Reish Process of Clarification The "head" or "beginning". Life's revelation. [Head... Person head highest] (Numeric value: 200).
- ד Dalet Selflessness – Charity, back and forth or through a door or pathway, to enter like a fish (Numeric value: 4)
"The Hebrew word "barad" refers to hail, a form of precipitation consisting of solid ice. In the biblical context, it is often associated with divine judgment and power. Hail is depicted as a tool used by God to demonstrate His might and to execute judgment upon the earth, particularly against those who oppose His will."
Also, the Hebrew word numbered 01261 which is also BeitReishDalet בָּרָד or barod is said to mean spotted or marked in some way and often translated grizzled.
Or as we see in 01262 barah ( בָּרָה) where Dalet is replaced with a Hey we find the meaning of "To eat, consume, choose".
This can give us a deeper insight to the use of the word in Genesis:
- Genesis 16:14 "Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi <0883>; behold, [it is] between Kadesh[1] and Bered[2]."
