Amathia

The Tree of knowledge is where the reason of man begins but without the tree of life to show us right reason in the light of the whole truth which is the Logos of Christ. How the reason of men makes sense to the foolish is well kept amongst the blind.

Living in the Age of Reason does not make you reasonable. You cannot wave the flags of fallacies and claim to be logical or profess critical thinking without the compassion, care, and Corban of Christ. Charity is a personal skill sets that most practiced contrary to the covetous practices of the world.

Amathia

Amathia is an Ancient Greek term that translates to "intelligent stupidity" or "willful ignorance," referring to a conscious choice to remain ignorant despite having the ability to learn. It highlights a specific type of ignorance that involves distorting knowledge rather than simply lacking it. It has been described as  “intelligent stupidity,” or “ignorance” in the Socratic sense, the opposite of sophia, i.e., wisdom.

In Greek mythology, Amaltheia (or Amalthea) is a prominent figure often depicted as the goat or a seanymph or Nereids who nourished the infant Zeus with her milk, saving him from his father, Cronus.

The Nereids as a sea nymph do not have milk and therefore do not nurse their young nor produce milk. There is observable mythology where the serpent is considered wise. The lack of warm milk in the myth suggest a wisdom lacking in compassion and may also be source of cold deception and manipulation.

The serpent of Amathia

The serpent of Amathia speaks from the smooth tongued deceivers who slithers in the Tree of knowledge and being blind and cold blooded stalk the foolish with fallacies of careless compassion.

The serpent is always a cold blooded creature that does not nurture its young with the milk of kindness and compassion. It is about its own survival and has no need to admit nor to submit to a higher moral power. By its nature it feels no need for a true perspective that comes with compassion for others. It cannot walk in the shoes of another for it has no feet.

It sees itself through its own vanity as beautiful already and see no reason to "Know thyself".

Socrates sees that for "parrhesia"[1] to be in a positive form of true boldness and confidence, there must be a formation and moral fortitude through the importance to ‘know thyself’, and the truth about oneself. To embrace or speak the truth one is better equipped to know that truth if they are more generally devoid of any self-delusion which is often rooted in or on self-flattery.

Hide in darkness

Were Adam and Eve really naked?
Was the tree of knowledge merely about flora or foolishness?
What were these two trees and are they still here?
Is the story of Adam and Eve the story of every man and woman?
If it is are we still committing that original sin and denying our part in the same daily sin which keeps us sitting in darkness?
What must we seek?
Do we need to return to divine compassion and learn to care without covetousness of the tongue of a snake, the serpent of Amathia.

If you are not willing to see the whole truth they will flee to the darkness and have to hide from the light that comes with it.

In other ancient allegorical stories like the serpent in the Tree of knowledge that give information but not true divine Wisdom..

the Tree of knowledge was a tree of foolishness that caused mankind to be cut off from divine inspiration and the light of true wisdom.

The bold and the brash

In the book "The Education of Children" by Plutarch (c.100 AD) the term "parrhesia" is when one expresses oneself freely through a bold but ignorant arrogance. He sees this as being nothing but “sheer vocal noise” if by “putting confidence in bluster”. (See Discourse and Truth, p.24).

This is what Plutarch calls a "lack of mathesis" – of learning or wisdom. In Greek mythology, the concept of "mathesis" (learning or knowledge) is linked with serpents primarily through their association with wisdom, prophecy, and rejuvenation, with the most prominent example being the use of a serpent to discover a life-restoring herb. This connection is often seen in figures like Asclepius and in stories involving the slaying of the Python at Delphi.

The bold and the brash are the beautiful in their own eyes.

This is why someone can learn or accumulate great knowledge but still remain a fool. Both Saul and Solomon had great knowledge and were given power to match by the people bund remained blind to their own foolishness.

There desire for power led to practices that turned to political policies that turned the people back to an entanglement with a yoke of bondage and loss of liberty and social degeneration.

Clement of Alexandria says in his Stromata that the Greeks derived this wisdom from the Hebrew scriptures, and in this connection cites numerous Bible passages to prove his point.

Ponting to the phrase "take heed to thyself", which is found in Exodus 10:28, Exodus 10:34:12; Deuteronomy 4:9.

Origen also claims that the Song of Songs, which contains the line: "If you do not know yourself, O fair one among women" (Songs 1:8, LXX).[2]

The entire Bible is written to give men insight into the nature of man and his relationship with other men, women, their institutions and of course God himself.

Ecclesiastes 7:22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.

Sun Tzu said Know the enemy and know yourself in a hundred battles you will never be in peril. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are certain in every battle to be in peril.

When in Rome do as the Romans. Rome fell because they let the immoral practice of corrupt cultures into their society. If you like the culture of Somalia go back to it or some place that likes and enjoy those cultural norms.Jesus was so clear . It is the instruction of the king Jesus that his followers were Not to be like governments that exercise authority but people claiming to be Christians refuse to see it. Matthew 20:25 "But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you:..." Mark 10:42 "But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you:..." Luke 22:25 "And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye [shall] not [be] so:..."Matthew 15:14 "Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recoveing of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, John 9:39 ¶ "And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind." Luke 6:39 "And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? 40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master." Acts 13:11 "And now, behold, the hand of the Lord [is] upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand."

Other Greeks and Romans seem to agree that parrhesia without overcoming ones own bias is foolishness

Democrats today are the worst threat to democracy. But any student of history should know that early Americans for the most part opposed democracy untill the 1900 because they knew they always fail

They fail because they also knew that as soon as they realize they can vote themselves benefits at their neighbors expense they begin a process that degenerates the masses as a moral society and the vast bureaucracy becomes a swamp and the leaders rule for their own enrichment.

I know people want to believe Trump is doing that but such accusations are clearly a projection by the most corrupt leaders in government today who are covering up their own graft.

People should see it but. Often do not because of their own covetous practices which Jesus, Paul, and Peter warned against. It is a classic case of the blind leading the blind and Robert Reich is one of the blindest.

He is a great example of what the Greeks call Amathia.
