Trespass offering

Trespass offering, or guilt offering, signified restitution for an inadvertent offenses or harm because of an improper interaction with a neighbor. By itself the offering made atonement towards God by benefiting all of society. But an additional one-fifth may be required as a sort of fine to compensate a neighbor adequately.

The sacrificial ritual was said to involved the slaughter of a ram, and was similar to that of the sin offering but we should know that through sophistry the ram his kidneys, liver, and rump are all symbolic of the process of contributing to society through sacrifice.

There are some special offerings that seem to be were required for the cleansing of a leper (Leviticus 14:12-20) or a defiled Nazirite (Numbers 6:12). These guilt offerings often were to be the province of the priests to become a wave offering which removed them from local control or bias and therefore were considered most sacred in character.
