  • 1 Timothy 2:1 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

The exhorting here is the word that means to call one or to summon them to come and do something.

  • 1 Timothy 2:2 For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

The word king in this verse is commonly translated king but can refer to Christ and even God. He is likely referring to the kings of other people and we no this by the word we see as authority. It only appears twice in the Bible.

Here and in 1 Corinthians 2:1 "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God."

Now we see in 1 Timothy 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

So the context of these verses is to establish that we should pray for kings in hope that they might be saved and because that is the character of Christ. We see the same thing in John 3:17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

The important thing to understand is that Christ came that you and the world might be saved. His kingdom was not of the world nor was the peoples religion suppose to be spotted by the world. The world the apostles are talking about was a particular world and we need to understand which one these references are to. There are 5 different words translated world in the Bible.

Part 6: This World video

If we read on in 1 Timothy 2:6 we see a reference to ransom.

  • 1 Timothy 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

The word ransom is from antilutron [1] which only appears once in the whole Bible.

There is another word lutron [2] a;so translated ransom which commonly the price paid for a slave.

You see the whole world had gone into bondage under the rulers they created. They had strayed from the ways of God and gone back into the bondage of Cain, Nimrod, Pharaoh and Caesar. They had been slothful in the ways of God and desired one purse, coveting their neighbors goods, and becoming resources of these crowned men.

Christ too was a king but he had no treaties with the world of Caesar yet Caesar would recognize His kingship and that recognition would be nailed to the cross and sealed in His blood.

  • Luke 23:38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Christ preached a form of government called the kingdom of God that operating based on faith hope and charity and the perfect law of liberty. The world operated it social welfare based on systems of one purse, coveting your neighbor's goods, sloth, avarice and men who called themselves benefactors but who exercised authority one over the other.

Those governments usually had the right to take from the people because people were greedy or gain and chose to sign up for systems o Corban that forced the contributions of the people.

This is why John the baptist also talked about Charity like Paul did and of course Jesus. The word Paul used that we see as charity is the same word we see Jesus use but is translated love.

This is why we see the Bible talking about the use of force in

  • Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence <βιάζω>, and the violent take it by force.
  • Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth <βιάζω> into it.

This word Greek word βιάζω or biazo os translated suffer violence 1, press and only appears in these two places in the Bible. They mean "to use force, to apply force"

They are referring to systems of Corban that get you to sign up and then force you to contribute. Herod had started doing it with his grand scheme of social welfare but Augustus Caesar has also started doing the same thing in Rome. These systems were called Corban.

These types of systems are as old as Cain and Nimrod and we see them mentioned as one purse in Proverbs 1:14 Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

They are also mentioned in Proverbs 23:2 And put a knife to thy throat, if thou [be] a man given to appetite.

They are all about coveting your neighbors goods or rights and asking men to force their contributions for your benefit with an exercising authority. Something we were told not to do from the beginning but the Modern Christians don't get. That may be because they pick and choose what they want to believe, read or see.

Jesus did not come so that we were free to sin but so that we were free to seek righteousness. If we repent like Christ, Paul and John and all the apostles said and seek righteousness of God we will bear the fruit o that repentance. The told us that in the the old [3] and new[4] testaments

That is why he said he was going to take the kingdom from those who would not repent and give it to those who would repent and bear fruit.[5] Then He appointed his government.[6]
