How are we Saved
Are we saved by faith or by works?
We are saved by grace as a result of our faith.
- Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
It is through faith you are saved. It is by God's grace which is a form of charity.
God is judge.
How do we know our faith is real?
How do we know we believe in the real Jesus with real faith in Him?
We must see evidence of that faith in the form of fruits. Those fruits should reflect the doctrines of Jesus too.
Jesus was going to take the kingdom from the Pharisees and give it to another because they were not bearing fruit.[1]
Jesus continues to explain that fruits are important because they are evidence of your faith and that it is real and not merely a product of your imagination and pride.[2]
- Luke 13:9 And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.
- John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
- John 15:8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
- Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth [it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Even healing people depended upon their faith which is not really just what you think but a compatibility of yourself with the spirit and virtue of Christ.
- Luke 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
- Luke 8:46... 48 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me... And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
- Luke 18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
Faith may not be what you think. It is a conviction that compels you to act.
Works are the fruit of faith. Works or fruit is how you shall know the faithful. No fruits or the wrong fruit and you know their faith is false.
- Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
- Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
So the idea that because we say works are essential has nothing to do with suggesting that we saved by our own works. Jesus was clear over and over that being a doer is not just a suggestion.
- Romans 3:27 Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
But that brings us back to the question, "what is Faith?"
Two hundred years ago the English word "faith" was defined as “Probity; good faith is the very soul of contracts. Faith also signifies confidence, belief; as, full faith and credit ought to be given to the acts of a magistrate while acting within his jurisdiction. Vide Bona fide.” So we see that faith is defined as probity. Probity was defined as “Justice, honesty. A man of probity is one who loves justice and honesty, and who dislikes the contrary.”
Real faith controls what you do in matters of justice and honor compelling virtue.
This is why James gives us the warnings about thinking we are faithful.
- James 2:14-17 "What [doth it] profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone."
He goes on and makes this abundantly clear...
- James 2:18-20 "Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"
- James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Real faith changes us. It is life that brings us to the ways of Christ...
- Malachi 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied [him]? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil [is] good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where [is] the God of judgment?
- Matthew 7:21 ¶ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
- Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
- Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
- Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
- Luke 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
How do we know we are saved
One common verse tells us that "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:"[3] But that one verse does not tell us if we are saved but those who truly believeth that Jesus is the Christ.

2. You have a new nature. Saying that it is your life that best reflects your love for God.
Have we confessed our sins
- 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
So what are the sins we must confess?
One is of course covetousness which is mentioned twice in The Ten Laws of God.
Then there is the traditional seven deadly sins of Lust (Wantonness, self desire, appetite of self), Gluttony (Self indulgence), Greed (hoarding for self), Sloth (physical or spiritual laziness), Wrath (hatred, anger, impatience, appearing as revenge, violence or even self-abuse), Envy (jealousy leads to covetousness), and Pride (hubris, vanity, arrogance, conceit, considered the deadliest because it rationalizes that all others vices or sins are acceptable). All these are about putting self first of others and are the antitheses of live they neighbor as they self.
These vices or sins are really the result of an absence of the traditional seven virtues of righteousness including Purity (honesty with self and others), Temperance (justice and honor of others), Charity (benevolence, generosity, sacrifice for others), Diligence (Persistence, effort, ethics, rectitude, probity concerning others), Patience (mercy, ahimsa or no harm, sufferance on behalf of others), Kindness (forgiveness, compassion, integrity to others), Humility (selflessness, bravery, modesty, reverence, altruism [4] in concern of others)
In every act that might be labeled sin there may be several of appearance of a lack of virtue. Sin is all about failing to actually and actively loving our neighbor as much as ourselves. If we do not love our neighbor unselfishly then are we not violating the second greatest commandment?
What would it look like if we put our own interests over that of our neighbor?
- Do we take or hope to take any benefit that might deprive our neighbor against their will?
Since Jesus was clear about keeping the commandments and not coveting but loving your neighbor and applying to the Fathers of the earth or to men who call themselves Benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other like other nations do then what would a sin against that command look like?
We also know that coveting our neighbor's goods or anything that is thy neighbor's is a sin, so what would that look like?
- Do we we ask men to force our neighbor to pay for our child's education by sending our children to public schools?
- Do we or will we ever depend on public health care or any social welfare offered by those Benefactors?
- Do we depend or will we depend on any benefit that comes from men who call themselves Benefactors but who exercise authority one over the other?
These would or should be clearly seen as sin but often the sin of Pride keeps us from seeing that we are forcing are neighbor to provide for us by joining or participating in these social welfare schemes.
Which brings us to other sins like having other gods[5] and making agreements with them[6], swearing oaths[7] and going under the power of others.[8]
If we loved our neighbor and were seeking righteousness would not we work diligently to offer others of our society an alternative through the practice of Pure Religion in matters of Health, Education, and Welfare a voluntary system of daily ministration through Faith, Hope and Charity by way of Freewill offerings of the people, for the people and by the people through the Perfect law of liberty in Free Assemblies?
If we are not then we are at least slothful and not diligent, striving or seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and are grieving the Holy Spirit.

What is a saved believer
The word "believer" only appears twice in the Bible.
First in Acts 5:14 "And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)" We see it translated from pisteuo πιστεύω a verb translated believe 239 times and believer once. It is from the noun for faith; it can mean "to think to be true" or "place confidence in".
We also see the word in 1 Timothy 4:12 "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation (conduct), in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
Here the word is pistos πιστός meaning faithful. It is defined "of persons who show themselves faithful in the transaction of business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official duties"
The word pistos does come from the word peitho πείθω which means "to persuade" or "be persuaded" or even "to trust, have confidence" but as an adjective it is defining some one who because he is convinced or convicted of Christ he shows evidence of the faithful in the transaction of business of Christ keeping the commandments of Christ.
Modern Christians often divest the word believer of needing to show the "execution of commands" of Christ nor even persuaded to seek to follow the ways he said to go and be. They seem to think that they merely have to be persuaded that they are saved believers in their own minds with no actual evidence discharged of their belief. They simply repeat their claim of belief in the finished work of Christ.
Paul in 1 Timothy 4:12 is clear that believers' should be an example of "in word, in conversation (conduct), in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
If they are not that example, we should be able to suspect, if not conclude, that they are not saved believers.
This required outward evidence of belief is consistent with the teachings of Christ who says we are to be doers of the word[9] and must bear the fruit of repentance[10], James' insistence upon works,[11] Peter in not coveting[12] or being entangled again with the elements of the world[13] cursing your children with debt.[14] and Paul[15]. <mp3player width="300">http://www.hisholychurch.net/kkvv/x1folder/131109-3diverslust-fr.mp3</mp3player> Download3
