Beasts

What are the beasts in the Bible?[1]

It can mean something alive, animated as if it is alive or controlled by something alive or a corporation (Golem), or government. The phrase "beast of the field" appears 50 times in the Bible.

Beast of the Fields

Genesis 2:19 "And out of the ground[2] the LORD God formed every beast[3] <02416> of the field <07704 הַשָּׂדֶה֙ (haś-śā-ḏeh)>[4], and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living <02416>[5] creature<נֶ֥פֶשׁ ne-p̄eš>, that [was] the name thereof."

The word translated beast is chay which normally ChetYod meaning live, life, alive.

Strong’s Hebrew 02416 (ḥay) is the primary Old Testament term for “living, alive, lively” and, by extension, “life.” Appearing in virtually every genre of the Hebrew Scriptures—narrative, law, prophecy, poetry, and wisdom literature—ḥay spans the entire sweep of biblical theology, from the first mention of “living creatures” in Genesis to the prophetic hope of “living waters” in Zechariah. Its frequent pairings with the divine name, with covenant language, and with imagery of vitality provide a rich tapestry of meaning for personal faith and public ministry.

But here in Genesis 2:19 it is spelled ChetYodTav

  • ת Tav is a Seal of a Higher kingdom or realm through faith. The paradigm keter–malchut “The Crown of Sovereignty” from the Tree of Life spiritually linking worlds or realms through an unseen doorway of faith. The Aleph & Tav are the first and last letters. [door sign cross seal] (Numeric value: 400)

Genesis 2:19 "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast[6] <02416> of the field <07704 הַשָּׂדֶה֙ (haś-śā-ḏeh)>[7], and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living <02416>[8] creature<נֶ֥פֶשׁ ne-p̄eš>[9], that [was] the name thereof.

And out of the ground[2], the LORD God formed every beast[10] <02416> of the field <07704 הַשָּׂדֶה֙ (haś-śā-ḏeh)>[11], and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living <02416>[12] creature<נֶ֥פֶשׁ ne-p̄eš>, that [was] the name thereof.

In V19 we see "God formed every beast of the field" where the word beast actually means something alive or that has life based the word HeyYod[8] but here we see and additional Tav of faith added to the end.[13] and the field is just on the land or in the country.

Genesis 2:20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet[14] for him.

Beast of Daniel

There are beasts in Daniel numbered in the Hebrew 02423 cheyva חֵיוָא‎ ChetYodVavAlef.

The "Ezekiel beast" refers to the four living creatures (cherubim) described in the prophet Ezekiel's vision (Ezekiel 1), which are composite beings with human, lion, ox, and eagle faces and four wings, moving like lightning to bear God's throne. These powerful, divine figures are often linked to the four living creatures in the Book of Revelation and symbolize God's majesty, intelligence, strength, and omnipresence, moving as directed by the Spirit without turning.

The Alef includes the idea of the The Paradox of the God and Man relationship demonstrated through the connection of the double inverted Yods as the divine spark of God and Man connected by a vav. In this unique word for the Beast of Daniel cheyva חֵיוָא‎, we see a Vav before the Alef that may suggest a division between the God/Man relation and the source of life, the tree of life.

Beasts of Revelation

In Revelation which include the Greek term therion θηρίον numbered 2342 which may mean an animal or wild animal but may be used as a metaphor to suggest "a brutal man" "savages" as a composite or group.

There is the Greek word ζῶον zoon which always translated beast and can be a living creature or creation.[1]

While אֲדָמָה overlaps with אֶרֶץ (“earth/land”) it is generally the nearer, humbler word, stressing the tilled soil from which humanity was formed and upon which covenant life is worked out.
