If in the "bondage of Egypt" 20% of the labor of the Israelites belonged to the government of  pharaoh and they called it slavery then because in most countries today more than 20% of the labor of the people belongs to the government then slavery is still legal. It was only "involuntary servitude" that is illegal. Voluntary servitude is still legal. So through covetous practices you can still become "human resources" or what Peter called merchandise.
The Bondage of Egypt was the result of eating at the table of the Pharaoh and going into debt where a portion of your labor belonged to the State. This is because the table of the authoritarian State is a Snare. Returning to the Bondage of Egypt is when the people are again entangled in the elements of the world and returning to The mire.
An ancient way to enslave a nation of people is to tempt them to with the covetous practices of socialism which that makes them merchandise and curses their children. This new status brought them into what was called Corvee bringing them under tribute. How it works is explained in: Employ vs Enslave. Seeking the kingdom of God is following the righteous Way of Christ and the perfect law of liberty.

Egypt

Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs. Millennia-old monuments still sit along the fertile Nile River Valley, including the colossal Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza and the hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs in Luxor. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks such as Muhammad Ali Mosque.

The word translated Egypt in the Bible is Mitsrayim from the Hebrew word matsowr רוצמ MemAyinVavReish[1] meaning besieged places or a place where we were besieged by masters.

It is from the Hebrew word tsuwr רוצ AyinVavReish[2] which is the Hebrew word meaning "to bind, besiege, confine". By adding the letter Mem which has to do with something that flows, the word is connected to words that also begin with the letter Mem, like Altars and Tribute.

In the Kingdom of God, the tithe flows through freewill offerings of charity of, for and by the people of society, but in the cities of Cain and Nimrod and Egypt they flow by force of the men who call themselves Benefactors and who exercise authority one over the other in the form of taxes. These men are the Fathers of the earth. The same was true with Herod's system of Corban, which John the Baptist and Christ opposed.

The Israelites went into bondage because they depended upon the Pharaoh to be their Benefactor. The Pharaoh had no authority over the people of all of Egypt[3] at first as a ruler. But when he offered benefits in hard times, he gained more and more power. Those who signed up for his benefits system became a part of his house[4], and he became the ruling father of the people.

They became legally enslaved by their consent accepting the Benefits of his government. In such systems, what should be for your welfare becomes a snare.

The Israelite people were in the Bondage of Egypt and owed tribute to the Pharaoh in the form of a Corvee service. If the Pharaoh exceeded what was "just, right and fair" that was called oppression.

That bondage in the beginning was just because Joseph's brothers sold him into bondage and so it was only right for them to go into bondage,too. As we judge to do to other become just if it is done by other to us.

That bondage of Egypt was simple and consisted of at least two elements.

The first, is they might have livestock and land but they did not own them to the exclusion of all else. They shared ownership in a sort of legal title. They had an "apparent title" but the pharaoh actually held what could be called the "equitable title" today but “carries no beneficial interest.”

Another element to their bondage is that the people did not own an exclusive right to their labor either. While the people still owned at least 4/5ths of their labor, at least 1/5 or 20% belonged to the pharaoh. We were told by God that we wee never to return to this type of relationship again.[5]


Egypt was a form of Government where the people were a part of a Corvee. God told His people (and us) to never return to Egypt nor were their leaders to do any thing to cause the people to return to that bondage.[6]

This was to be written down in their Constitution if they ever elected a leader who could rule over them.

  3. Originally the Pharaoh was not a ruler who could force contributions of the people. He was naked of authority. The Levites were also naked and they need the people to sew them "underwear", a limited covering.
