Some Steps

5 steps will help you to find out what to do next in your life.

Jeremiah 31:29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. 30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge. 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Ezekiel 18:2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge? 3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. 4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,|

1. Clear Your Mind by Doing Something.

“Not knowing what you want is a lot better than knowing exactly what you want but not being able to get it, at least you have hope.” —Unknown

How do you know what you want?

What is better?

What is worse?

How do you know which way to turn?

How do you know when you should go?

Do you have an appetite for the fruit of the tree of knowledge which is sweet in the mouth but bitter in the belly?

Or do you have patience enough to wait for the tree of life which bear better fruit?

Do you want what you want or do you want what God wants for you?

Do you desire the truth, including the whole truth about yourself?

  • "Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not." Proverbs 8:33

If you hear the Lord will you understand?

  • "And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not." Isaiah 6:9
  • "Be still, and know that I [am] God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalms 46:10

Learn to Be still and meditate upon that which is hidden in your own mind.

  • "And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse [it], and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took [it], to carry [it] out abroad into the brook Kidron." 2 Chronicles 29:16

Will you humble yourself before God and His will?

If you will turn away from iniquity and seek to be a doer of His word God's voice and spirit ill come to you.

  • "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear." Isaiah 59:2

Accept the idea that God is smarter than you.

  • "Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:... Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you." Jeremiah 5:21 ... 25
  • "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" John 10:27

Seek the patience of Christ.

  • "And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ." 2 Thessalonians 3:5

God wants you to learn to love. He wants to write His will upon your hearts and upon your mind.

  • "For this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 8:10-12
  • First forgive so that you may be forgiven.
  • Then love yourself so that you may equally love others?
  • Do you care for yourself so that you may care for others?
  • "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" 1 Corinthians 6:19
  • Do you feed the temple of your soul so that it may be a righteous habitation?
  • Do you diligently apply your hand to labor and the plow?
  • Do you need to clean up your act?

Prepare yourself, so that when you figure out what you should do, you can do it.

2. Take Action To Wake Up Your Conscious Mind.

“Self pity is a dead end road. You can make the choice to drive down it. It’s up to you to decide to stay parked there or to turn around and drive out” —Cheryl Stryed.

Stop giving power to what you think is your problems, and start trying to help someone else with theirs.

  • "Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?" Matthew 18:33

Do not be addicted to depending on others to do things for you.

  • "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] the LORD." Leviticus 19:18

Helping someone else, empowering others can change the flow of energy in yourself as it changes your focus.

3. Embrace the Power of Taking Small Steps each moment of each day

If you have started step one you are already eating and exercising, and your health should be getting better. You may need to revise those steps but you have the power to do so at any time.

If you have done step two you are thinking about others and their problems rather than dwelling on your own. Step three is to put action to what you are thinking.

To get momentum on your journey to finding out what to do with your life. Set two or three realistic goals which include helping others as much as you would want help, or to be helped, yourself.

Write down these goals to remind you. Set a time to check your own progress and success, and religiously return to review the plan.

Spend time and energy doing something of value to improve conditions in the world for you and others. Figure that whatever you do this month you will revise and do more next month.

4. Seek The Wisdom and Knowledge of Others Who Have Been There Before.

“The more extensive a man’s knowledge of what has been done, the greater will be his power of knowing what to do” —Benjamin Disraeli

This is why you gather with others in Congregations of Record who are also seeking to be Doers of the Word. You not only may be helped by their experience, you can start helping them by sharing your own.

5. Do Whatever It Takes To Get To Know YOU.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.” —Theodore Roosevelt.

To find where you need to go and what you need to do, you need to know where you are at and how you got there. Be willing to know the whole truth, so that you can provide for it, with steps 1 through 4.

This means you must be honest about yourself, your weakness and your short comings. Do this knowing that you have begun the process of change.
