Stomach acid needs to be in sufficient amounts, and BELOW a pH of 1 - otherwise stomach will not remain sterile. Only with pH of BELOW 1, can the stomach appropriately digest proteins, absorb minerals (like iron, B-12, etc.). Once pH is above 2-2.5 the stomach can't do that. |

Gout
