Humble^[1] is "having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance." or "of low social, administrative, or political rank."

Synonyms are meek, deferential, respectful, submissive, diffident, self-effacing, unassertive;

True humility is a willingness to put the lives and welfare of others before yourself. It is strengthened by the freewill offering of sacrifice for others in love and charity. The covetous practices of the world lead people to a haughty heart.

We see the word humble in Exodus 10:3 "And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble^[2] thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me." Exodus 10:3

This term anah^[2] is translated afflict 50 times and humble 11 but only appears as lêānōṯ in this one verse. The primitive root which is identical is also anah^[3] but is translated answer 242 times. The normal word for humble is Kana^[4] which is KafNunAyin and appears as humble 18 times, subdue 11, bring low 2, bring down 3, subjection once.
