There are a few different words translated confusion in the Old Testament. Many of them have to do with doing something shameful.
In Psalms 35:4 "Let them be confounded[1] and put to shame[2] that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion[3] that devise my hurt."
Here the word chapher[3] is translate confusion but in other verses it also is translated confounded and ashamed. In this verse there is the word buwsh[1] which is commonly translated ashamed but also shame 9 times and even confusion. In this same verse we the phrase "let...put to shame using the word kalam[2]. So all these words can include ideas like confounded, shamed and confused.
Some of these same words are repeated in Psalms 35:26 "Let them be ashamed[1] and brought to confusion[3] together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify [themselves] against me." Here we see a new word dishonour from a new Hebrew word këlimmah[4] that is related to Kalam[2].
