Cloud in Hebrew

One of the most common words translated cloud in the Old Testament is ‘anan[1] appearing more than 80 times. It is said to be from the verb anan[2] meaning "to make appear" or "soothsaying".

In the New Testament we see the word cloud consistently translated from the Greek word nephele [3] it is from the Greek term nephos[4] which appears only once but is also translated "cloud" but can mean a dense multitude.

There are other words like Nephthaleim[5] who was the sixth son of Jacob, the second child borne to him by Bilhah, Rachel’s maid servant. His descendants formed the tribe of Naphtali.
