Seven Symbols
- Canaanites, Amorites, Girgashites, Hittites, Hivites, Jebusites, and Perizzites are both as literal nations/peoples in the land of Canaan, and also as a symbol of those whose practices are in opposition to God. Their theological sense point to core issues like idolatry and injustice with ways of life that oppose God, including pagan worship, moral corruption, and spiritual unfaithfulness. The names can serve as “types” or “representations” of ungodliness.
