A hierarchy has rank but it may not have rank over people. The Church was said to be joint heirs. First Rome persecuted people who would not sign up to be a part of the Roman welfare state administered though their temples. When they went after the ministers and bishops of the Church and killed them they took the property they were holding. The Church appointed by Christ were able to get it back because they were joint heirs. People do not understand what the Church was doing and how it worked.

This all occurred before Constantine started his church.

The Church established by Christ was a real body which served the people in free congregations. Modern churches go to the governments that exercises authority for their welfare. No wonder the people are made merchandise and back in the bondage of Egypt.

Remember everyone who became a Christian no longer ate at the welfare tables of Judea or Rome that were funded with compelled offering. The Church was providing all the welfare, emergency relief for all Christians throughout the empire during some very hard times.

They did this through a network of ministers who were not tickling the ears of their congregation but actually providing the services of a government without exercising authority one over the other.
