Physics
The Stoics saw Physics was not just about modern science but encompassed metaphysics, theology, and understanding the entire natural world—how the universe works. It was linked with the divine Logos, and our place in it, serving as the foundational knowledge for living virtuously. It would of course included biology, psychology, and cosmology, explaining the interconnected, fated nature of reality that ethics then guides us to live in harmony with the unmoved mover of the universe.
Stoicism was fundamentally deterministic as a philosophy due to the observed chain of cause and effect generating fate beyond choice or desire. Modern scientific materialism seems to be evolving back to accepting there could be more subtle influences that seem to be more metaphysical because of the cosmic effects or influence from alternate dimensions or quantum mechanics.
Modern physics is normally is seen as a branch of physics developed from the early 20th century. It began to move beyond classical Newtonian physics. To explain phenomena at extreme speeds or tiny subatomic scales the theories of Quantum Mechanics with more discrete energy, light or wave-particle duality ads new perspectives. Einstein's Relativity is not seemingly absolute and is insufficient to address mysteries and behaviors.
Modern quantum theory has been meshed with theories like superdeterminism or David Bohm's "implicate order" suggesting an underlying interconnectedness or entanglement of all things. The Stoic called this sympatheia or the "sympathy of the whole" or even singularity ordered by the Logos.
The breath (Pneuma) or spirit of God may enter into man or be rejected but there is also Fire and Strange fire that may be related to the Cosmic Fire (Ekpyrosis) of the Stoic ideas that through a blend of pneuma and ekpyrosis producing a pattern of the cyclical nature of the universe and its underlying characteristics and substance.
There is a view of Continuum Mechanics and that of a smaller or more discrete scale suggested in the Quantum Grains theory.
The Global Consciousness Project (GCP) at Princeton University observed a "pattern" in random number generators (RNGs) during the 9/11 attacks suggesting a non-random deviations during moments of intense global emotion or trauma.
