Fruits

Choose fruits and vegetables which are the best source of energy, and use potassium permangnate or baking soda for cleaning. Do not peel carrots, as some of the most valuable food elements are near the surface of its skin. Especially do not chop off the green tops in carrots. This portion is rich in b carotene. The body utilizes this to manufacture Vitamin 'A', deficiency of which leads to night blindness, dry and rough skins, which becomes very susceptible to infection. b carotene delays the aging process. Recent research has also shown that it can help prevent lung cancer.

When a course of raw vegetable and fruit juice is commenced, some physical disturbances may arise. This is the result of a cleansing process taking place in the system. The juices extracted from green vegetables are generally too potent to be taken alone, so dilute all green juices with an equal amount of water or combine them with other juices.

Benefits of some Vegetable Juices

Vegetable Juices Whereas fruit juices are useful in quick rejuvenation of the system, vegetable juices are a bit slow but supply energy for a longer time. When you feel exhausted the best thing is to take a cup of fruit juice, but later you can take a glass of vegetable juice. Vegetable juices can be prepared from the following vegetables; Carrots, Beetroot, Ashgourd, Cucumber, Radish, Spinach, Palak leaves and other consumable green leaves.

Best of all is carrot juice. It contains every required nutrient and is rich in vitamin A. It is very good for skin and eye problems. It is also very good for soothing ulcers in the stomach and for growing children. It can be taken with lime or orange juice.

Beetroot juice is believed to improve blood. Ashgourd juice is very helpful in building nervous stability. I suggest that people with nervous disorders should take Ashgourd juice regularly everyday. I know a child in Hyderabad who was a slow learner and physically disabled. He improved tremendously with this juice. Now the child talks and moves around freely with an improvement of around 60%. Ashgourd has the highest prana and so paralytic patients can make very good use of it as well.

Beet Root: Helps in anemia, beneficial to women suffering from menstrual disturbances. One of the best liver, kidney and gall bladder cleansers.

Cabbage: Cleanser of mucous membrane of intestinal tract. Good for stomach ulcer, constipation and gum infections.

Carrot : Good digestive aid, endocrine tonic, skin cleanser, eye conditioner, a solvent for ulcerous and even cancerous growth. It is helpful in fighting infection.

Celery : Aids in clearing away the dead wastes which clog the tissues of the body causing arthritis, diabetes, coronary disease, varicose veins, kidney stones etc. Helpful to restore a balanced nervous system.

Cucumber: Natural diuretic, promotes hair growth, good blood pressure regulator, alleviates rheumatism by flushing out uric acid.

Lettuce : Natural tranquiliser, soothes stomach.

Spinach : Cleanses and cures constipation, heals the lining of colon and small intestine.

Sprouts: Extremely beneficial as they have enhanced nutrients in them. Tulsi leaves are extremely beneficial to the system. They cure skin diseases, relieve labour pains, ear pains, dysentery and many other problems. Juice of black tulsi (Krishna Tulas) leaves when put into the eyes is beneficial in night blindness.

A teaspoon of honey every morning with water clears the bowels, liver and lungs. Burns can be treated by smearing honey on the wounds. A spoon of honey in lime juice makes you slim. A spoon of pure honey with pomegranate juice is a good cure for cold and flu.

Milk Myths

The myth of milk being a complete food stands shattered by recent researches. Dairy products contain two elements-lactose and casein. The enzymes lactose and renin required to break up these, are absent in the human system by the age of three or four years. Over 98% of the human population is lactose-intolerant. Continuous ingestion of milk causes poor absorption of nutrients from food. Casein coagulates in the human stomach to form tough curds which are difficult to digest. The by-products of milk leave a great deal of toxic mucous in the body.

Pasteurization not only makes milk a dead food; it does not even remove the hair root, dirt or small insects. The chances of drinking contaminated milk when it is pasteurized are much greater than when it is raw. Calcium utilizable by the body, is obtained from green vegetables, fresh fruits, nuts, seeds and grains. It is a myth that milk provides calcium to the body. In fact, scientists have proven that milk removes (leaches) the calcium from the body. Enjoy nature and be healthy. Celebrate the beautiful existence bestowed on us!

Juices as our Diet All of us are already aware of raw food in the form of juices. Juices can replace the need of some of our regular habits of consuming hot beverages like coffee, tea or cold drinks and alcoholic drinks, etc. which we know very well, are harmful to our health.

As far as my knowledge is concerned juices can be divided into three varieties viz., (i) fruit juices (ii) vegetable juices (iii) sprouts, nuts & dry fruit juices. Fruit Juices

Juices of fruits contain all the necessary ingredients for our body. Depending on our need we can dilute the juices. They can be easily prepared at home as almost all homes have mixers or juicers. Fruit juices are easily digestible and even old people can enjoy them. I found that we can live totally on juices. People who are on fasting can break their fast with fruit juices like sweetlime, orange, pineapple, grapes or pomegranate juices which are very good.

Fruits like Banana, Chikoo, Pear, Guava, Apple, Mango, Papaya, Jamoon, Woodapple, etc., with pulp will be sumptuous and can replace a meal. People with skin and kidney troubles can easily tone up their system with fruit juices.

One of the myths that people have is that fruit juices are not good for diabetis.Specialists at Banglore have clarified and said that no natural sugar is dangerous for diabetis. It is only the additional synthetic sugar we add to the juices that can create trouble. Similarly the acids in the fruits are harmless. Same with the salts in the juices. They will not increase blood pressure. Hence people with similar ailments should avoid adding extra synthetic salts, sugars, and acids.

When we conduct AMC, I find that with juices as a diet, people's health problems disappear. Patients of diabetes find that they can completely stop taking insulin within two days. I myself could find the gas formation in the stomach disappearing. There is an enormous amount of rejuvenation in the system and the mind becomes very calm and cool. I am sure it will help in cases of hypertension as well. Juices are very helpful for mediators. For people who complain of difficulty in settling down of mind, I suggest,a diet of fruit juices.

How many times can juices be taken in a day ? In what quantity can juices be consumed ? What time gap should one keep in between taking juices ?

We can take juices as many times as we feel like. Normally one big glass of juice of any fruit will be able to hold hunger for 3-4 hours. It is always advisable to take one glass at a time. So 4-5 times of taking juices is enough for a day of fruit diet. No other food is required. Juices are to be taken very slowly, sip by sip. As the proverb say, "Eat the juices and drink the solids." Gulping down the juices won't be helpful and is a mere waste.

Juices of the greens can be used regularly. They supply chlorophyll and enrich blood. Patients of anaemia are suggested this. Lettuce or spinach juices regularly in combination with Beetroot is an additional advantage. In my opinion any diseases can be cured just with the proper use of juices. If you are on juice diet you will never suffer from any health or spiritual problem. Http://www.ssy.org/nfood.htm

Many people with mild to moderate high blood pressure do well on a combination of lifestyle changes along with herbal and nutritional supplements.

Hawthorn Berry-relaxes blood vessel walls and reduces blood pressure. Commonly used by physicians in Europe for hypertension and as a cardiovascular tonic

Ginkgo biloba-not only improves memory but relaxes artery walls leading to a reduction in blood pressure. Dandelion Leaf-used by many practitioners as a natural diuretic. One of its benefits is that it does not cause a loss of potassium and magnesium unlike some pharmaceutical diuretics.

Potassium/Magnesium/Calcium-all are important as minerals in helping to reduce blood pressure. Can be taken separately or as part of mineral formulations. Those on potassium sparing diuretics should not supplement potassium.

Coenzyme Q10-one of the top supplements for the heart and cardiovascular system.
