Barbara Thiering is an Australian nonfiction writer, historian, theologian, and Biblical exegete specialising in the origins of the early Christian Church.
Dr. Barbara Thiering was an active member of the University of Sydney's School of Divinity for twenty-two years and a full-time writer and researcher.
In books and journal articles, she challenges Christian orthodoxy, espousing the view that new findings present alternative answers to its supernatural beliefs.
Her analysis of the archeological record has been rejected by many scholars in the field not because of her research but because of her conclusions concerning miracles.
Her dating of the Dead Sea scrolls has found a wider acceptance.
